Sherry L. (Estey) Gallagher ~ January 30, 2025

Canandaigua: Our beloved Sherry gained her wings on January 30, 2025. She was born November 13, 1956, to Donald and Marlene (Quayle) Estey.  Sherry was predeceased by many friends and loved ones. Most notably, her infant son, Brian Jacobson (1976)  She is survived by her loving partner Terry Lincoln; mother Marlene Smith; and sons Andrew (Hedy) Jacobson and Kelly (Tiffany) Jacobson. Sherry was a proud grandmother to Cody (Tamara) Jacobson, Emma, Paige and Benjamin Jacobson. She was very excited at the news that her first great-grandchild (Baby Joy) is expected in August. Sherry is survived also by brothers Tom (Joanne) Estey and Richard Jenner; sisters Susan Becker and Donna Jean Ochs;  her nieces and nephews, Briana (Quinon) Collins, Amanda Estey, Chelsea (Hannah) Becker, William (Amanda) Becker and Christopher (Brenna) Becker; three great nieces/nephews, beloved aunts and uncles as well as many, many cousins and friends.

Sherry’s main career was as a Real Estate Broker for nearly 50 years. She began in the 70s with Hugh Turner of RiCo Realty in Victor, working until her last days for Larry Magguilli of Hunt Real Estate ERA. She loved real estate and spoke fondly of those she worked with through the years. A few of Sherry’s great passions were her family, Elvis, Bruce Springsteen, dogs (her latest was Darryl the rescued pitbull), the family farm, and cows!  Oh how she loved the cows.  Each was named and as “Dr Sherry” she helped bring several of the calves into this world. Her favorite was Rachel – a beautiful brown Highlander.  Sherry’s walls, bedding and clothes were adorned with pictures of Highlanders.  Her “Rachel” blanket traveled with her to each chemotherapy and radiation appointment. Sherry never lost her beautiful smile or amazing sense of humor – “dancing” in her hospital bed and making jokes with loved ones. Memories of her love and laughter will carry us through.

The family would like to thank Clifton Springs Oncology and Radiation department, the staff and volunteers of Light Hill Hospice Home and a special thank you to Jeff and Elaine Jacobson for their support in her last days. Too numerous to mention are all those who provided meals and gifts to brighten our days as we cherished the moments with Sherry.  Thank you all!

A celebration of Sherry’s life and love is planned at the family farm this Summer. Arrangements entrusted to Dougherty Funeral Homes, Livonia and Honeoye.

Ruth Marie Allen Campbell ~ January 27, 2025

Bristol: Ruth passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025, at age 88. She was born on August 18, 1936, and grew up on a farm in Bristol. Her parents were Gordon B. and Clara T. Allen. She was always proud to say she attended the District #5 one-room schoolhouse for several years until Honeoye Central School was constructed. Another prominent feature of Ruth’s early life was when she began studying to become one of Jehovah’s Witnesses when she was only 13. Eventually, the majority of her family became baptized Witnesses and Ruth was proud to see several generations of her extended family follow her example.

Ruth married Bruce C. Campbell of Cheshire on July 17, 1954, at the Granger Homestead in Canandaigua. They built a home on the Allen family farm where they raised their family and lived out their lives together. Bruce died in 2019. Ruth leaves three children: Kim (Linda) Campbell, Linda (David) Werder, and Mark Allen Campbell, along with six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Ruth enjoyed life in Bristol – even co-authoring two local history books in the 1990s on early life in the town. She had a lifelong love of art. Many of her watercolors of Roseland’s carousel, as well as many other local scenes, were obtained by art collectors. Ruth and Bruce enjoyed studying the Bible with numerous individuals over the years. She spent decades as a loving housewife, mother, and grandmother.

Burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Bristol, NY will take place privately and at the convenience of the family. To send a condolence or share a memory please visit: www.doughertyfuneralhomes.com

Ralph Chandler Parker III – January 27, 2025

Livonia:  Ralph C. Parker of Commercial Street in Livonia, NY passed on January 27, 2025 at age 86 years.  He was born on October 11, 1938 in Portsmouth, VA to the late Ralph C. Jr. and Marta (Aspegren) Parker.

He is survived by his brother Herman “Hap” (Lisa Okoniewski) Parker of Flourtown, PA; niece Suzanne Parker of Utah; sister-in-law Karen Okoniewski of Buffalo, and many friends in the Livonia Community.

Ralph owned and operated the Livonia Inn and the Livonia Lumber Company for most of his life, making friends and memories along the way.  The Inn was a regular location for nightly dinners, happy hours, and bringing people together.  It was there where Ralph loved to host his famous corned beef and cabbage dinner on St. Patrick’s Day, which always brought in a big crowd.  He often invited groups to the Inn: card players, musicians, political group meetings, and it was certainly the place to go after a sporting event.  He always welcomed and knew almost everyone there.

What most people didn’t know was that Ralph’s father was in the Navy, so every two years he would move to another naval base. He ended up going to seven different schools before spending a brief time at college, and then heading to California, to sail and surf on the ocean water he loved. This led to meeting many wonderful women from around the country, whom all adored him, as did the various horses and dogs he befriended. We know that dogs in particular are very good judges of character! Eventually moving back east, he joined the Rochester “Bachelors Club” and remained an active member for many years. Upon coming to Livonia to take over the Stewart lumber company, he found a place and people that he loved and never left.

He was a member of the Livonia Rotary Club for 57 years!  Ralph joined on January 15, 1968 and was recognized for being a 50 year member on January 15, 2018.  He was always proud of his involvement in Rotary and the motto of “Service above Self.”

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Saturday, May 10th, from 1pm-5pm at the Livonia Inn, 17 Commercial Street, Livonia, NY. At 1:30pm there will be time to remember and share memories of Ralph. Memorial contributions may be made in Ralph’s Memory to the Friends of the Livonia Public Library, PO Box 202, Livonia, NY 14487.  To send a condolence or share a memory please visit:  www.doughertyfuneralhomes.com

She is survived by her son; James Francis Sr.; brother; Harvey (Pat) Gumaer, and grandson; James Tears Jr.

Marlene’s wishes were to have the following obituary.

Sunrise, June 18, 1939 – Sunset, January 2, 2025.

When I must leave you for a little while, please do not grieve and shed wild tears and hug your sorrow to you through the years. But start out bravely with a gallant smile; and for my sake and in my name, live on and do all things the same. Feed not your loneliness on empty days, but fill each waking hour in useful ways.

Reach out your hand in comfort and in cheer, and I, in turn, will comfort you, and hold you near, and never, never be afraid to die, for I am waiting in the sky.

Afterglow

I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one.

I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.

I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the way.

Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days.

I’d like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun.

Of happy memories that I leave when life is done.

Per Marlene’s wishes, there will be no calling or service. A private burial will take place in the Jacksonville Cemetery, Phoenix, NY at a later date. To share a memory or condolence, please visit: doughteryfuneralhomes.com

His passion for photography allowed him to freeze those moments in time, sharing his unique perspective with all of us.  Brian also was an avid traveler and race fan, and of course, he loved all his dogs.

Brian’s bond with his wife and son was unbreakable and filled with love, warmth, and countless beautiful memories. Kathy and Avery were his world, and in them, he found his greatest happiness. Brian’s generous love was extended to his parents, siblings, his whole family, and all his friends— and he made so many precious memories with all of them.

Brian fought valiantly against cancer, never allowing it to overshadow his love for life. His strength and resilience were a testament to his character, reminding us all to cherish our time together. Throughout his journey, Brian’s strong faith remained a guiding light, reassuring him and those who loved him that he would one day be reunited with Jesus in heaven. We Thank God for the eternal hope of everlasting life, where all pain is ended.
