Georg was born on April 26, 1966 in Albany, NY to parents Heinz and Irina Heck.  He grew up on the Catskill Game Farm in Catskill, NY.  Georg’s dad was the director there and although Georg spent much of his time caring for the animals this is where his love of ‘big trucks’ began.  At the age of 18 he got his Class A CDL and started moving zoo animals across the US.  Georg decided that he should get his degree in zoology to follow the footsteps of his father and grandfather.  Georg graduated from SUNY Oswego in 1988 and worked in the zoo industry for many years.

Although Georg enjoyed working at the zoo, he could not get ‘trucking’ out of his blood. He went on to spend 15 years in freight sales before deciding to start a trucking company of his own.  In November of 2012 he started Blue Heron Logistics along with his wife Kim.  Georg loved the industry! He could not wait to find a new customer to show them how great the trucking industry can be.

Georg lived for his family and friends.  He was an amazing father and husband.  Georg was honest, funny, emotional, caring, and loyal to a fault.  If you needed his help, or even if you did not, he was there to lend a hand and give you advice.  He loved posting jokes on Facebook and was well known for I-W-F-D (it’s what’s for dinner).  In his very short life Georg was able to touch so many lives.  He will truly be missed.
