Joanne L. Semmel (Ferrell) – May 31, 2020

Geneseo:  At age 80, Joanne passed peacefully on May 31, 2020 in Warsaw, NY.  She was born on April 29, 1940 in Warsaw, NY to the late James E. and Thelma L. (Goldthwait) Ferrell.  Joanne graduated from Perry High School in 1958.  She married Wayne G. Semmel on November 7, 1959.  Joanne retired from Livingston County Counseling Services as the Administrative Officer in May 2002.

Predeceased by son Roger Semmel on April 25, 2020.  Survived by her husband of 60 years, Wayne G. Michael S. Cary – May 26, 2020

Honeoye/Canandaigua: At age 60, Mike passed peacefully at home on May 26, 2020.  Predeceased by his father Paul Cary.  He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Cindy (Deveans) Cary; son Shane Cary (Sarah Walford) of Bristol; granddaughters, Lexi, Lucy, and Laynie Cary; his mother Jackie (Alan) Flandro of Newark; siblings, Chris (Ann) Cary of Newark, Patrick (Barb) Cary of Clifton Springs, Julie (Patrick) Carr of Clifton Springs, and Alan (Diana) Huizinga of Canandaigua; also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Mike graduated from Honeoye Central School Class of 1977.  He was married to Cindy for over 42 years and dedicated to his family.  He enjoyed spending time with his 3 granddaughters and having fun with them as “Papa.”  Mike was a hard worker and worked with his brother for many years in the painting business.  He loved gardening, his dogs, and in his free time he liked to fish and have a good time.

John Torregiano “Magic Man” ~ May 26, 2020

Conesus: May 26, 2020 at age 58. John was born on May 27, 1961 in Rochester, NY to the late Leo and Dorothy (Kramer) Torregiano. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his sister Cheryl. Survived by his siblings; Lynn Law of FL, Vic
(Leah) Torregiano of GA, and Leo Torregiano of FL; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Also survived by his girlfriend of many years, Tracy Mosman of Conesus.

John, always known as “Magic Man”,  practiced and entertained with magic from a young age, specializing in the slight of hand. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians and with his unique sense of humor he enjoyed making
people smile and laugh. His creativity extended to his love for music and for years he performed in a band. He loved GOD and had a deep appreciation for all his friends and family including his pets.

Richard R. Sales “Dick” – May 23, 2020

 

Geneseo:  Dick passed peacefully at his home on May 23, 2020 at age 80.  He was born on January 1, 1940 in Boston, Mass to the late Robert and Dorothy (Olney) Sales.  Predeceased by his brother Joe Sales.  Survived by his wife of 53 years Barbara (Perry) Sales and sons; David Sales and Josh Sales both of Geneseo; grandchildren, Zachary and Lily Sales; sister Sue (Randy) Thomas, and many other loving family and friends.

Dick and Barb were married on July 1, 1967 and they celebrated 53 years of marriage.  He loved to travel and they visited many places over the years.  They went on many cruises and snorkeled in many interesting places.  For the past ten years Dick and Barb traveled to New Mexico during the winter months.  He and Barb liked the climate, the beauty of the landscape, and learning all the history held there.  Dick worked at Rochester Products for over 25 years, retiring in 2000.  He loved the water and spending time on Conesus Lake.  He enjoyed boating, sailing, motorcycling, reading, and having a good time.  He was a proud friend of Bill W. for the last 35 years.

Ivan C. Bell ~ May 20, 2020

Penn Yan: At age 72, Ivan passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at Solders and Sailors Hospital in Penn Yan. Ivan was born in Newark, NY to the late; Harold and Almina Bell. Ivan is survived by his sister; Diantha E. Tadder of Penn Yan, NY his niece Leslie (Michael) Dauphinee of Conesus, NY, grand nephews; Edward Bell, Shawn (Melissa) Martin, Dakota Dauphinee, and Thunder Dauphinee, along with several other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ivan’s sense of humor was unmatched and loved to make everyone smile. He had a huge heart and loved to help anyone who needed it. Ivan enjoyed relaxing in his recliner, watching his favorite movies and reading books. He will be greatly missed.

Wally Van De Bogart – May 18, 2020

Honeoye/Canandaigua:  Wally passed peacefully on May 18, 2020 at age 90.  He was born on June 25, 1929 in Batavia, NY to the late Wilbur and Carrie (Hilchey) Van De Bogart.  Predeceased by his loving wife Fran (Angelo) Van De Bogart. Survived by his  cousin Bob (Linda) Finger, sister-in-law Kathi Czebatol and brothers-in-law, Ralph Angelo, Bill Angelo, Rick Angelo, and Jake Angelo.  Also survived by many loving family members including cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many dear friends.

Wally was married to Fran for over 50 years and they loved to travel.  They lived on Honeoye Lake for many years and later in life moved to The Villas At Canandaigua.  They enjoyed many trips to Marco Island, FL and Myrtle Beach, SC.  Wally retired from Gleason Works in Rochester, NY.  For the past year Wally resided and made many friends at Quail Summit in Canandaigua, NY.

Gwendolyn E. Hanna “Gwen” – May 11, 2020

Avon:  At age 85, Gwen passed peacefully on May 11, 2020.  She was born on July 20, 1934 in Theresa, NY to the late John and Margaret Estes.  Predeceased by her husband Theodore “Ted” Hanna in 2018.  Survived by children; Robert Feely (Lauri Nevol) of Henrietta, Lori (Mike) Bailey of Webster, Nanette Wong of Canandaigua, and Onnolee Hanna; grandchildren, Hillary (Terry) Niver, Amanda Doyle, Shannon Feely, Allison Feely, Thao Hanna, Rachel Wong, Jason (Angel) Wong, and Carlyn Nevin; 11 great-grandchildren; sister Judy (Russ) Waltz; and many other loving family and friends.

Gwen worked for the Rush Henrietta School District and then worked for Hammer Lithograph, a printing company in Rochester, NY.  She used to go bullhead fishing with Ted and she loved to feed and watch birds.  Gwen was a very strong and loving mother and wife and was also very kind and caring.  She loved family and especially to see her grandkids.

Teressa M. Martin ~ May 6, 2020

Geneseo:  At age 95, Teressa passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehab in Mt. Morris, NY.  She was born in Austin, PA to the late Pasquale and Rita Severino.  Teressa is predeceased by her husband; Charles Martin.  Survived by her children; Linda (John) Fritz of Bandon, OR., Dennis (Adrian) Martin of Buffalo, NY, her grandchildren; John Fritz, David Fritz, Scott (Lacey) Martin and Mark (Mandy) Martin, Great Grandchildren  Maggie Martin, Ian Martin, and Beau Martin, plus nieces and nephews.

She lived for her family and being a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, cleaning,baking, working in the yard,  fishing, traveling and seeing the country. Her and her husband Charles enjoyed many good and happy years camping, boating, and RVing. They spent warm pleasant years  of Wintering in Florida with their Motorhome, and enjoyed  and gathered many good friends and good times. She always loved a good debate, conversation or argument, especially if it was about politics.

Monica G. Carey (Gaffney) – May 6, 2020

Henrietta:  Monica passed peacefully on May 6, 2020 at age 92.  She was born on March 9, 1928 to the late Bart and Mary (Finnegan) Gaffney.  Predeceased by her husband James J. Carey and brother Bill Gaffney.  Survived by her daughters; Barbara Carey of Olympia, WA, Mary Ellen (Lewis) Whipple of Webster and Susan (Steve) Carey-Friedrich of West Henrietta; grandchildren, Erin (Brian) O’Neil, Lindsay Whipple, Eric Smith and Naomi Smith; great-grandchildren, Logan and Connor O’Neil; brothers, Jack (Carolyn) Gaffney and Jim (Gloria) Gaffney; and many nieces & nephews.

Monica grew up on a farm in Rush, NY and graduated from Rush High School.  She attended Rochester Business Institute and later worked Eastman Kodak Co.  She was a devoted mother, grandmother and homemaker, her family was everything to her.  Monica married James J. Carey in 1950 and they celebrated close to 60 years of marriage before Jim’s passing in 2009.

Jean F. Dembosky ~ May 6, 2020

Canandaigua: At age 91, Jean passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2020. She was born in Pottsville, PA. Jean was predeceased by her husband; Edward Dembosky. Survived by her daughters; Celeste (Richard) Williams, Barbara (Charles) Braun, her granddaughters; Kristen Williams, Jill Williams, Kara (Aaron) James, and Monica Braun, her brother; Lenny Jukus, along with her great grandchildren; Greyson James, Lena James, Everett James and Evelyn Williams.

Jean enjoyed being taking an active role in her senior community.  She was a longtime member of the Livonia Senior Club and the Livingston County Senior of the Year.  The only thing that was more important to Jean was her family.  Saying Jean was a dedicated, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, certainly is an understatement.  Jean loved being with her family and wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world, well except for maybe a good potluck.  Her love and sense of humor will be greatly missed.

Allan F. Sears “Al” ~ May 2, 2020

Avon, NY/Newtown, CT:  At age 75, Alan passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 2, 2020 at the Avon Nursing Home.  He was born in Santa Clara, CA to the late Leroy and Emley Sears.  Survived by his wife; Beverly Sears, his children; Alan (Ann) Sears, Tammy Richardson; Melissa (Shawn) Perkins and Teresa (Hayden) Morris, along with several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Allan was a very humble, loving, funny, and dedicated father and husband.  Everyone knew him as Al.  He loved his family dearly and always made sure they were taken care of.  He worked very hard in the construction business and built houses for a living.  He always had a great reputation in the construction business.  He would always make sure the job was done right before he left to go to the next job.  Everyone loved and respected Al.  Al joined the United States Army and served for 3 years.  He earned his honorable discharge.  Al loved to play golf in his free time when he wasn’t working and enjoyed fishing and camping out by the lake.  Al was known for cooking for an army.  He loved to cook and always made enough food to feed an army.  He will truly be missed but we will always remember his humbleness in life and how good he treated people.

Anna M. Schunk “Ann” ~ May 1, 2020

Lima: At age 83, Anna passed away peacefully on Friday, May 1, 2020 at Highland Hospital in Rochester. She was born in Canandaigua, NY to the late Ralph and Theresa Angelo. Anna is predeceased by her beloved husband of 62 years; Donald Schunk, her sisters; Frances Van De Bogart, Rachel Harris Thayer and her brother; Thomas Angelo. Survived by her sons; Michael Schunk (Maureen Fenti), Mark (Robin) Schunk, her siblings; Kathy Czebatol, Ralph Angelo Sr., William Angelo, Richard Angelo, and Jake Angelo, her grandchildren; Krista (Christian Donner), Brianna (Jeff Dougherty), Trisha (Anthony Fredenburg), Justin (Carol Schunk), and Shane, and her great granddaughter; Eliza, along with several nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Anna was very community oriented; she was the VP of the Lima Senior Association for many years, volunteer for the election board and a driver and scheduler for FISH.  Anna was always the first to lend a hand, she will be greatly missed.
