Conesus: At age 82, Roger passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, April 4, 2025, at his home in Conesus. He was born on July 5, 1942, in Rochester, NY to the late Paul J. Damon and Geraldine Palma. He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Michele F. Damon, and his daughter, Barbara Damon. Survived by his sons, Paul (Beth) Damon of Rochester, James Damon of Rochester, Michael (Michelle) Damon of Livonia, Christopher Damon of Spencerport, his half-brothers, Tim (Janet) Damon of Livonia, and Darryl (Jennifer) Damon of Naples, FL, his grandchildren, James, Jr., Sarah, Melanie, Nicolas, Aaron, Luke, Abbey, Jacob, Rebecca, Elizabeth, Alison, and Emily, his many great-grandchildren, along with several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Roger met the love of his life Michele at a school sock hop, after a few years of courting they went on to have a long and happy marriage and settled down in the Town of Gates where they raised 5 children. Roger joined the Gates-Chili Fire Department in 1969 and served as Lieutenant, Captain, and Battalion Chief at Gates Station 2 from 1978-1983. They moved from Gates to Conesus Lake in 1985 where he bought Michele her dream home on East Lake Rd. Roger retired from the Gleason Works in Rochester, NY in 2004 after over 42 years of service. 20 years as a Supervisor where his leadership was admired by all who worked for him. Roger and Michele became empty nesters and moved further south in 2005 to his current residence on East Swamp Rd to enjoy a quieter life of hunting, wood working and lazy days together. They loved to host family events at Camp Nomad. After his beloved wife Michele passed in 2010, Roger joined the Conesus Fire Department in 2011 where he served as a Fire Commissioner until 2016, he also served as a Director and Treasurer until 2021. He was most recently honored with Life Membership and spent a few years on the Fire Police Squad. Roger was a dedicated family man, husband, father and Firefighter. He was a faithful steward to the communities he lived in.
Friends and family are invited to call from 10 AM – 1 PM on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home, 21 Big Tree Street in Livonia. A Firefighter Code F will commence at 1pm followed by a prayer service. Interment will take place privately at White Haven Memorial Park in Pittsford, NY.
