Geneseo: Butch passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2024, at Highland Hospital, Rochester, NY. He was born on April 18, 1943, in Wayland, NY. Butch is survived by his wife, Bonnie (Nisbet) Wager, sons, Benjamin O. (Jennifer) Noragong-Wager, Todd M. Wager. Brothers, Leonard (Dorothy) Wager, Thomas (Carolyn) Wager, and sister-in-law Karen Wager. His grandchildren, Mary and Anna Noragong. Pre-deceased by his parents, Leo and Velma Wager, and brother James Wager.
Butch joined the Air Force after he graduated from Wayland High School and spent time in Texas. Butch went to work at Kodak as a film slitter and always helped on the family farm. He was always a caring person. He moved back to the family farm to help care for his ailing parents so they could stay at home. In 1988 he was able to move into his dream log cabin surrounded by acres of hunting land.
Butch made friends wherever he went. He was handy in the kitchen and often made gallons of potato salad and dozens of deviled eggs for gatherings. He loved being outdoors. Gardening, golfing, fishing and, hunting kept him outside in all weather. He especially liked to take time and teach the skills of hunting and fishing to his nieces, nephews and, sons. Gardening was something that he took pleasure in, showing his granddaughters how to plant a garden complete with sunflowers and strawberries.
In recent years Butch had honed his skills in Trivia knowledge regarding Presidents, States and, sports. He looked forward to matching wits with his friends at his son’s brewery every Thursday. Butch was always eager to share with great pride, the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren.
Family invite you to a Celebration of Life for Lawrence (Butch) T. Wager on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at NoBS Brew Company at 3474 Bronson Hill Rd. Livonia NY 14487 from 2:00p.m. to 5:00 p.m. There will be a military honors ceremony at 2:00 p.m. and the memorial will commence after that. Snacks and drinks will be provided.
