Kevin P. Leslie – March 28, 2019

 

Bristol/Honeoye:  March 28, 2019 at age 64 years.  Predeceased by his son Brandon Leslie and parents Herbert & Jeanette Leslie.  Survived by his sons; Kaleigh Leslie-Taylor of Syracuse and Keegan Leslie-Taylor of Honeoye; sisters Cheryl Siple and Sandra (Timothy) Cannon, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Kevin was born on August 31, 1954 in Rochester, NY to parents Herbert and Jeanette (Watson) Leslie.  He served his country as a Sergeant in the US Army and specialized in testing and repairing guided missiles.  Kevin also attended MCC earning his degree in electronics and worked in several fields including security systems and truck driving.

Naaman Ralph Barnhart “Slim” ~ March 26, 2019

Geneseo:  At age 79, Slim passed away peacefully with his family by his side on March 26, 2019 at his home in Geneseo.   He was born in Rochester, NY to the late Naaman and Eliza Barnhart.  Slim is survived by his wife of 47 years; Barbara Barnhart, his children; Kevin (Julie) Barnhart of Conesus, NY., Jacquelyn (Joseph) Bixby of Corning, NY., Jeffrey (Rose) Barnhart of Lakeville, NY., Karin Oyer of Hornell, NY., and his 16 grandchildren; Kyle, Kassandra, Gabrielle, Tylor, Jessica, Emily, Kayla, Mackenzie, Alexandria, Dylan, Elizabeth, Amanda, Rose, Danielle, William, and Katelyn, along with his 13 great-grandchildren. Slim’s family would like to give a special thanks to: Livingston County Hospice.

For many years, Slim was a welder by trade for Stone Conveyor in Honeoye.  He excelled at many jobs along the way, before going to work for Atlas Van Lines as a mover and truck driver.

Bambi Lynn Woolston “Bam” ~ March 22, 2019

Avon:  Bambi Lynn Woolston, who devoted her life to caring for her children and helping others who needed help taking care of themselves, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2019 at Strong Memorial Hospital.

“Bam” was born in Warsaw, Wyoming County, to the late John and Sylvia Woolston.

Bam worked as a daycare provider for Annie’s Ark and went on to care for her own children and others as a self-employed daycare provider.  She later spent the next 17 years working for the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation as a nursing assistant, where she retired in 2016.

Bam also pursued interests in gardening, sewing, and spending summers on Conesus Lake – but there was nothing she enjoyed more than spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children, Ryan (Liz) Witherow of Avon, Patrick (Nicole Robinson) Witherow of Rochester, and Jeffery (Meghan DeWinde) Witherow of Conesus; her grandchildren, Brooke Witherow and Carter Witherow; her siblings, Brenda (Alan) Hettrick of Dansville, Chris Woolston of Conesus, and Brian Woolston (Susan Guess and Mayson) of Leicester; and her aunts; Sally Witter and Ruth Witter; and her beloved dog Lily.

Robert A. Connors “R.A” – March 22, 2019

 

Honeoye – With great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather on Friday March 22, 2019 at the age of 85 surrounded with love from his family. Bob was born in Rochester, N.Y on December 29th, 1933 and was predeceased by his father William and mother Florence (Renouf) Connors, brother Elmer (Virginia) Connors.  Bob leaves behind his beautiful wife of 63 years, Shirley (Jenks) Connors. He is also survived by his 6 children, Scott Connors of Hemlock and Arlene (Dave) Spike of Bloomfield, Bonnie Connors of Rochester, Brian (Chris) Connors of Hemlock, Cindy (Mike) Bock of Honeoye, Nancy(Craig) Hommel of Bloomfield along with 8 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren, and along with many nieces and nephews.

Bob served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1951-1954 including service on the USS Leyte.  Bob was a lifetime member of the Honeoye-Hemlock American Legion Post as well as a member of the Flying Farmers Association, Honeoye Chamber of Commerce, Richmond Town Cemetery and President of the Honeoye school board.  Bob and Shirley were owners/operators of Robert A. Connors Paving Inc. for decades as well as many other business ventures along the way such as Connors Sand & Gravel, Springwater Peat, RA Connors Inc. (sales of motorcycles, snowmobiles, tractor) before finally retiring and spending their well-deserved winters in Florida and traveling cross country with friends.  Bob had a passion for photography, woodworking, stock car racing and loved spending summers residing in the 1000 islands enjoying his fishing.   Bob cherished the time he spent with his family the most, taking the grandkids on trips that were both fun as well as educational, holiday gatherings, birthday celebrations, and family picnics.  Bob’s curiosity and zest for life inspired so many and will continue to do so as his legacy lives on thru the lives of each and every one of us that he touched.

George T. Schuster Jr. – March 20, 2019

Livonia:  George T. Schuster Jr., of Richmond Mills Road, passed peacefully on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at age 88.  He was born on March 16, 1931 in Dansville, NY to the late George T. Sr. & Marie (Kervin) Schuster.  In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his wife Joan M. Schuster, sister Kathryn Walrath and brother Vince Schuster.  Survived by children; William (Mary) Schuster of Livonia, Robert (Midge) Schuster of Americus, GA, Kathleen (Jeff) Dodsworth, Daniel (Laurie) Schuster, Kevin (Karen L.) Schuster, Karen A. (Christine) Schuster and Mary Ann (Gary) Benedict all of Livonia. Grandchildren; Michael Schuster, Brittany Snyder (Dylan Tucker), Brandon Snyder, Matthew (Caroline) Schuster, Sara Schuster (Jack Yancey), Kaitlin Grouse (Matt Bullen), Kevin Grouse, Jenna Dodsworth (Devan Sutton), Daniel (Jennifer) Schuster, Robert Schuster, Scott Schuster, Nicole Benedict and Thomas Benedict; great-grandchildren, George Bullen and Finnola Schuster; sisters, Rose Joyce, Rita Schuster, Barbara (Richard) Nowakowski and Alice-Ann Schuster; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

A 1949 graduate of Livonia Central School with an Agricultural Science degree from Alfred State in 1951, George fulfilled his passions for farming. He was a third-generation dairy farmer taking over Schuster Farms in 1968 and operating the homestead for over 40 years. Married to Joan for 53 years, they had 7 children in 8 years and he still found time to give back to his community. He was a committee member of the Farmers Home Administration, a charter member of the Livonia Ambulance and a member of the Livonia Fire Department for over 65 years. In 2013 he was chosen as Livingston County Citizen of the year. He served on the Town Board for 32 years and was a proud member of the Historical Society.  George served as ambassador of the Annual Rotary Farmer’s Dinner where he received the honorary Rotary award in 2019. He was inducted into the Livonia Athletic Hall of Fame and was a member of the Livonia Sports Fan Club. Athletics were his greatest pass-time whether it be a Livonia high school event, an Alfred football game, watching Syracuse or an NFL game on the television. He lived life to its fullest both at work and play, always with a smile on his face and a “have a happy” comment to cheer your day.

Jean A. Smith (Minosh) ~ March 18, 2019

Conesus Lake:  Jean passed peacefully on March 18, 2019 at age 71.  Survived by children;  Floraine “Flo” (Jerry) Marble, Charlene “Char” (Gerald) Presler, and Jamie Smith all of Conesus; grandchildren, Jennifer Marble-Hayes, Josh Marble, Zaine Presler, LeAnna Presler, Miranda Presler, James Hapke, Joel Smith, and Jayden Smith; great-grandchildren, Michael, Mason, Jaime, Jackson, Logan, Norah, Macie, Nick, and Keagan; her sister Helen Hildreth and many dear family & friends.

Beverly A. D’Aprile (Kuslik) – March 18, 2019

Canadice/Geneseo:  Bev passed peacefully on March 18, 2019 at age 79.  Predeceased by husband Gus. Survived by children; David (Katie) D’Aprile, Karen (Paul) Roche, Linda (Dave) Polizzi, Thomas D’Aprile, and Theresa (Brian) Denney; grandchildren, Joseph and Thomas Polizzi, Daniel Roche, Brooke and Jake D’Aprile, and Grace and Sophia Denney, sister Janet (Eric) Von Reyn, aunt Helen McCombs, and several nieces and nephews.

Bev graduated from SUNY Brockport and taught briefly before resigning to raise the family. Bev loved animals, especially her miniature schnauzer “Fritz” and her family, dearly.

Dorothy A. Redding “Dot” ~ March 17, 2019

Victor/Dansville:  Dorothy “Dot” Redding of Victor, NY passed away on March 17, 2019 at the age of 82 at Hope Hospice, Fort Myers, FL surrounded by beloved family members.  She was born Dorothy Ann Verrelli on August 29, 1936 in Bradford, PA, daughter of Italian immigrant Louis Gino Verrelli and Mary (Ross) Verrelli.

After graduating from St. Bernard’s High School in Bradford in 1954, she became a legal secretary until her marriage to David J. Redding on June 7, 1958.  In 1960 they settled in Dansville, NY where her husband established a Chiropractic Practice and they resided for 39 years.  Dorothy’s passions were her family, being a homemaker mother of their five children, and helping others.  She was a Girl Scout leader, religious education teacher, and she volunteered at the churches she attended: St. Mary’s in Dansville, St. Catherine’s of Siena in Mendon, and St. Patrick’s in Victor.  She also served on the Board of Clara Barton Red Cross Chapter #1 in Dansville, delivered Meals on Wheels, volunteered at soup kitchens, sponsored the education of many children in developing countries, and went on Christian missionary trips to Mexico, Guatemala, and Jamaica.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters Marie Sankner, Helen Jensen, and her brother Louis Verrelli.  She is survived by David J. Redding, her husband of 60 years; by her children Mark (Patty) Redding, Victor NY; daughter Lisa Redding, Lima NY; daughter Karen (Jeff) Molyneux, Centennial CO; son Gary (Darla) Redding, Victor NY; and son David G. (Kris) Redding, Lake Wylie SC.  She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

John L. Johnston “Smokey” ~ March 13, 2019

Canandaigua:  At age 81, John passed away peacefully on March 13, 2019 at F. F. Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua.  He was born in Canandaigua, NY to the late Clarence and Jane Johnston.  John is predeceased by his daughter Cheryl Cooper.  Survived by his wife of 35 years; Marion Johnston, his children; Keith (Stacey) Johnston, Renee (Mike) McMeekin, Douglas (Cindy) Ace, Kristy Lisk (Conway), his sister; Joy Kessler, his 16 grandchildren and his 11 great grandchildren.

John was an Army Reservist who served his country from 1958 to 1962.  Once out of the reserves, he became a career carpenter who spent nearly 50 years working for Frank Marianacci, Inc.   John really enjoyed going on fishing trips up to the 1000 Islands and was very passionate about sharing the message of Jesus along with spending time with his family.  He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather and will be greatly missed.

Raymond E. Philipson “Ray” – March 12, 2019

Livonia:  Peacefully at his home on March 12, 2019 at age 77.  Predeceased by his parents Edward and Julia (Ryan) Philipson.  Survived by his wife of 53 years Edyth “Edie” (Costello) Philipson and children; Scot Philipson of Livonia, Diane (Scott) Ackerman of Livonia, and John (Jen) Philipson of CO; grandchildren, Jack and Max Ackerman.  Also survived by his sister-in-law Helen (David) Miller; nephew Bryan (June) Miller, niece Donna (Les) Barstow, and many dear friends.

Ray lived his entire life in the Livonia area.  His childhood was spent in Livonia Center, graduating from Livonia High School and then Alfred Tech.  He was a self-employed plumbing and heating contractor for many years before moving on to capital project manager for Livonia Central and Wayne BOCES.  Ray loved to hunt, was a beekeeper, and greatly enjoyed working on his Christmas tree farm.  Living on Conesus Lake, he enjoyed all lake activities including teaching his grandsons to fish.

Martin L. Johnston “Marty” ~ March 7, 2019

Conesus:  Marty passed away, at age 74, on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at the Vincent House in Wayland.  He was born in Warsaw to the late Otis and Ruth Johnston.  Marty is survived by his wife of nearly 30 years, Sharon Nichols-Johnston, his daughter; Tracy (Michael) Powell of Bath, NY, his son; Mark (Rebecca) Johnston of Willow Spring, NC, his sister; Val Bradshaw of Mt. Morris, NY, his grandchildren; Kristy Powell, Michael D. Powell, Martin Johnston, and Emily Johnston.  Predeceased by his granddaughter, Hope Elizabeth Johnston, his siblings, Ivan Johnston, Robert Johnston, David Johnston, Kenneth Johnston, Patty Collister, Sheila Johnston, Collette McTarnaghan, June Mills, and his special nephew; Ricky Johnston.  Marty will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and his many nieces and nephews.

Marty is a military veteran who served his career in the Armed forces, and Army National Guard.  He served overseas in the Desert Storm Gulf War 1990-1991.  Marty retired and remained active in the community. He served on the Hemlock Fair Board of Directors for 25 years.

Bruce Carlton Campbell – March 5, 2019

Bristol/Honeoye:  March 5, 2019 at age 83.  Bruce was born on November 20, 1935 and grew up on a farm in Cheshire.  He graduated from Canandaigua Academy in 1953.  He married Ruth Allen of Bristol on July 17, 1954, and soon began building his own house in Bristol for his growing family and lived there for 60 years.  Bruce worked for Stone Conveyor and then Stone Construction in Honeoye as a skilled metal worked until he retired.

Besides his loving wife, Bruce leaves three children; Kim (Linda) Campbell, Linda (David) Werder, and Mark Campbell, along with six grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.  His hobbies included: gardening, genealogy, and crossword puzzles.  Bruce was an original member of the Canandaigua Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses when the congregation was formed in 1944 and continued as such until his death.

Erik T. O’Brien – March 3, 2019

Hemlock:  Erik passed unexpectedly on March 3, 2019 at the age of 39.  Survived by his mother; Cathy Deveans, his sister Bridgette (George) Blair, his niece and nephew; John and Abby Blair.  Erik is predeceased by his father David O’Brien.

Erik had a love for music, fishing and his dog, Mick.  Playing with his niece Abby and watching his nephew Johnny play sports meant the world to Erik.

Herbert F. Mason “Herb” – March 2, 2019

Canadice:  Herb passed peacefully at his home on March 2, 2019 at age 91.  He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Caroline (Paeth) Mason and daughters; Lisa Mason of AZ, Cindi (Dan) Lynch of Lima, and Tricia Mason of Canadice; grandchildren; Dan Lynch of Rochester and Cristie Feldman of AZ; great-grandchildren, Makayla and Colin Feldman.  Herb is also survived by many loving neighbors and friends including his close family friend Raymond Nichols.

Herb was born on November 28, 1927 in Marilla, NY to parents Floyd and Esther (Seeger) Mason.  He enlisted in the US Navy during WWII and served honorably from 1944-1947.  Herb was an electrician for many years, was a member of the IBEW Local 86 and also belonged to the Masonic Social Lodge # 713 in Kendall, NY.

Bonnie Drake ~ February 28, 2019

Springwater:  Bonnie Drake passed away peacefully the morning of February 28, 2019.  She fought strong for many years in her battle with cancer.  Our warrior now has peace.  Bonnie is survived by her husband Emery “Butch” Drake; daughter Missy Drake; son in law Doug Burns; brothers in law, Ed Drake and Jerry (Caroline) Drake; and nephew Jason Robb.
