Marlene’s wishes were to have the following obituary.

Sunrise, June 18, 1939 – Sunset, January 2, 2025.

When I must leave you for a little while, please do not grieve and shed wild tears and hug your sorrow to you through the years. But start out bravely with a gallant smile; and for my sake and in my name, live on and do all things the same. Feed not your loneliness on empty days, but fill each waking hour in useful ways.

Reach out your hand in comfort and in cheer, and I, in turn, will comfort you, and hold you near, and never, never be afraid to die, for I am waiting in the sky.

Afterglow

I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one.

I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.

I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the way.

Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days.

I’d like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun.

Of happy memories that I leave when life is done.

Per Marlene’s wishes, there will be no calling or service. A private burial will take place in the Jacksonville Cemetery, Phoenix, NY at a later date. To share a memory or condolence, please visit: doughteryfuneralhomes.com

  1. Miss Marlene, you have been in my life for years. We didn’t get together in the past few, though wouldn’t know it
You always had the back to fall back in to a comfort feeling. Like putting on a favorite blanket.
You will be missed. Fly high Miss. You deserve to rest and be free if pain.
