Franklin “Frank” E. Tucker ~ January 22, 2025

Clifton, NJ: At age 82, Frank passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mt. Morris, NY. He was born on April 27, 1942, in Coudersport, PA, to the late Franklin “Bub” Tucker of Eulalia, PA, and Alta Marie (Thompson) Tucker of East Orange, NJ. Frank is predeceased by his sister, Janice (Richard) Adamson of Livonia, NY, and is survived by his niece, Carrie (Robert) Whitehead of Honeoye Falls, NY.

Frank was, as some have described, a Renaissance man, having vast interests and hobbies. He was an avid genealogist, tracing his family’s lineage to Charlemagne. He served in the United States Air Force Drum and Bugle and played trumpet. He was an Amateur Radio (HAM) operator, K3GDX, and made his own computers. He helped boost the city of Clifton’s radio signal and, if the city or anyone needed something rewired or a wire harness made, Frank was the man to call. He dabbled in leather working and stained glass and most of his life he worked as a pinball, cigarette machine, and jukebox repairman. As Roger said, “If he was your friend, he was your friend for life.”

A private graveside service with military honors will take place at Union Cemetery on Big Tree Road in Livonia, NY on April 25th, 2025. A memorial and celebration of life will take place in Clifton, NJ at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) of NJ, http://cliftonnjcert.com/donate/ To share a memory or a condolence, please visit: www.doughertyfuneralhomes.com

  1. I met Frank when he moved to NY to be with his sister. I will remember fondly our afternoons geocaching with fellow cacher Karen Rowley

  2. I am Frank’s first cousin, who grew up living on the same street during our childhood. We spent many days together wandering the hills of Potter County, PA. and just doing what childhood friends do. Besides being cousins, we were also close friends. We were in the HS band, played many trumpet duets together for HS functions. He was always witty, with a smile and a joke or two. I lost touch with him when we moved to CO in 1976. I did get a chance to see both Frank and his sister in 2021 when we went back to Rochester to visit my sister and her husband. I feel responsible for not reaching out to him more after we moved. He was a kind man, and I will miss him. May God grant you rest, my Cuz

  3. I met Frank when we both turned up as volunteers for the town of Clifton NJ. They wanted some hams to join the Office of Emergency Management. Frank was a great asset to the organization. His technical and mechanical abilities were better than most and he had a great sense of humor. After Frank was moved to an assisted living home in NY State, we communicated a few times over the years. I’ve missed him since I moved out to Arizona and will always miss my friend. Together with me, Paul, Pat, and Frank, we made a formidable com team. Rest in peace, my friend. Condolences to his good friend, Roger.

  4. Frank was foundation member of the Clifton OEM Communications team for over 20 + years and was a member of Clifton’s 1st CERT class.
