Conesus: On Saturday, January 4th, Ronald “Ron” Steenblok, passed away unexpectedly, at the age of 69. He was born in Bowral, New South Wales, Australia to Udo and Grada Steenblok, who predeceased him, as does his sister Sandra. Family was the most important thing to him, and he was always happiest when he could be with the ones he loved. Ron is survived by his wife Debra Steenblok (nee Pavone), children Brad Steenblok (Zamira), Cassi Steenblok, Justine Donohue (Daniel), and grandchildren Gabriella Steenblok, and Hannah, Joseph, George, Laura, and Michael Donohue, along with many cousins and nieces and nephews.
After traveling the world, Ron moved to New York Mills, New York as a boy. He loved America and became a naturalized citizen, spending the majority of his life in the Greater Rochester Area where he built his home in Conesus. He worked for 30 years at Eastman Kodak in the transportation department until he retired in 2003. After starting his own business he returned to his passion of driving and making deliveries, working for FedEx before retiring officially in February 2020.
Ron loved the outdoors including camping, fishing, hunting, and gardening. He had an incredible sense of humor and would light up a room with his jokes, quick wit, and ability to talk to anyone. Ron valued his faith in God and was a member of Calvary Chapel in Groveland and has been an active member in the community previously serving as a Boy Scout Leader and member of the Conesus Town Board for many years.
Family and friends may call on Friday, January 10th, from 4 pm – 6 pm at the Kevin W. Debbie I’m so sorry for your loss. Ron was a good and funny man. When they first moved to Rochester we got together a couple of times. When they lived in Utica we would go vist with them at the house of the good shepherd, for the holidays. I remember ice skating with Ron and Sandy on the rink that Ron built in the back. I have the memories in my heart. Ron is with his mom, dad and sister in heaven.
Debby ,
I’m so sorry to hear of Ron’s passing.
You and your family are in my prayers.
Please reach out if you need anything.
