Livonia/Canandaigua: At age 92, Virginia passed away peacefully, at the home of her granddaughter Julia Loyd, with her family by her side on Sunday, January 19, 2025. Virginia was born on July 13, 1932, in Canadice, NY to the late Howard and Blanche Whitney. She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 69 years, Thomas L. Sargeant, her son-in-law, Charles Deller, her grandson; Richard Britton, and great-grandson; Jerry Britton. Survived by her daughters; Barbara Deller of Lima, NY, Sharon Sargeant of Avon, NY, Linda (Armando) Alvarado of Chicago, IL, and Amber (Jeff) Savage of Rushville, NY, her sister, Betty McLean, her sisters-in-law, Susan Wright, and Lois Whitney, her 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, along with several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Virginia and her husband Thomas had their own iron ornamental company in Livonia for many years. She was also an inspector at Ritter Dental and a cafeteria worker at RIT.
Virginia was a member of the Covered Bridge Association. She and Tom traveled to several states to see many bridges.
Virginia enjoyed playing Bingo, gardening, and canning, but what she loved the most was spending time with her family.
In keeping with Virginia’s wishes, no formal funeral services will take place. A private graveside service will take place at Covered Bridge Evergreen Cemetery in Springwater, NY.
