Lakeville:  At age 88, Thelma passed away on October 19, 2019 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY.  She was born in Rochester, NY to the late Loren and Thelma Springett.  Thelma was predeceased by her husband Sherwood Hanna.  Survived by her daughter; Kathi (Lou) Lozier, her brother; George (Marie) Springett, her 6 grandchildren; Jaimi (Gideon) Bratcher, Kara Ferner (Tim Ochs), Candi Holbert (Craig Robinson), Lore Lozier (Peter DiBona), Maranda Lozier (Brian Skinner), Keefe Lozier ( Gabrielle Bell-Gill), her 9 great grandchildren; Aidan, Tristan, and Aubrey Bratcher, Willow Belke, Noah Malone, Paige Skinner, Skylar Ferner, Alex Provost, Julian Lozier and her sister-in-law; Elizabeth (Michael) Weiss, along with her nieces, and  nephews; Jeff ( Judy) Springett, Dawn Springett, David (Ann) Weiss, Sue (Tom) Stuber, Nancy (Phil) Campbell, and cousins.

Thelma was always doing something productive. She was well known for her bread, and cookie baking, making sure there were cookies in the cookie jar. She was a Girl Scout leader, and had  many badges earned by her scouts right from her kitchen, or backyard. She had a love for animals, especially her cats. There was at least one cat in the house  for most of her life. Thelma enjoyed reading, sewing, dyeing, spinning, weaving, crafting, gardening, and quilting. She was a member of the Fiber Arts Guild, and the Stitch and Dine Quilt Club. Thelma sold Avon Products for many years. She was involved with her church’s many ministries. She was  especially involved with the Mummers, which was the theatrical group from her church. She shared her strong faith in our Lord Jesus with people far beyond her family! Her strong prayer life touched people all around the world, and her example will be remembered by many, for many years. She now looks forward to seeing all her brothers and sisters in Christ again soon.

Services were held privately at Mt. Conesus/Geneseo:  Rodney went to be with the Lord on October 24, 2019 at age 83.  Predeceased by his loving wife Mary E. Shank, parents George and Lena (Rojahn) Shank, brother Jeffrey Shank, and grandson Damian Morton.  Survived by daughters; Cindy (Laverne) Morton of SC, Wendy Axtell of Rochester, and Sharon Shank of Geneseo; grandchildren, Shane Morton (Tasha Barger), Nathaniel Axtell, and Cooper Davis; great-granddaughters Lilia and Damilynn Morton.  Rod is also survived by many other loving family and friends including his nieces, nephews, cousins, and his church family at the Conesus United Church.

Rodney was born in Gettysburg,PA May 29,1936. Rod and Mary were happily married for 56 years. He was proud of the Forestry degree he earned from Penn State and remained an exuberant Nittany Lions fan. Rod worked for the Boy Scouts of America for 31 years, in 14 different assignments. Rod and Mary could be found working in their garden, enjoying their dogs , watching the wildlife from the deck. Also enjoying great meals with family and friends. His family and church community were such an important piece of his life.

Geneseo: At age 79, Carl passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 20, 2019 at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mt. Morris with his family by his side. He was born in Hornellsville, NY to the late John Hogan and Norma Miller. Carl is predeceased by his step father; Arthur Miller and his step mother; Barbara Hogan.  Survived by his beloved wife (Bride) of 57 years; Beverly Hogan, his children; Carl Hogan Jr. (Kimberly Millett), Kelly Hogan (Ken Alexander), his grandchildren; Justin (Emily) Dean, Joshua Dean, Ashley Dean, his great granddaughters; Madisyn Gresty, Trinity Dean, his siblings; Fred (Carol) Miller, Jack (Debbie) Hogan, Bill (Melissa) Hogan, Mike Hogan, Dave (Brenda) Hogan, Debbie (Dennis) Slocum, Steve (Cindy) Hogan, and Becky Hogan, along with his many nieces, nephews and cousins.   Carl was looking forward to meeting his great grandson, Conor Dean (Jan. 2020).

If you knew Carl you knew he was an Irish farm boy at heart who dedicated his life to his family, his community, and his country. He spent 35 years serving this country with nothing but pride and honor. While serving in the US Army he was also a volunteer fireman for both East Avon and Henrietta, and Scout master while Carl Jr was a boy scout. Nothing mattered more to him than his family and friends, except maybe a cold pint of Guinness.  Ask any of his kids or grand-kids and they’d tell you how all of their friends called him their dad/grandpa.  He was like Santa Clause for the neighborhood, only much cooler.

Floyd was born in Rochester, NY on February 26, 1930 to parents Ward & Hazel (Murney) Embling.  He graduated from Avon Central High School and later served our country in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict where he was stationed in Guam.  After his military service he married Bev in 1954.  They celebrated a life-long marriage and he loved to tell the story of how he asked for her hand in marriage.  Floyd retired from SUNY Geneseo where he was a facilities supervisor on the campus.  After retirement he has a second career working at the Hillside Children’s Center on Monroe Avenue in Rochester, NY.  Floyd had a green thumb and loved to garden, enjoyed wood working, NASCAR, and watching baseball.  He liked to watch TV, disliked commercials, and used the mute button often!  Floyd was a quiet type of man and generally stayed to himself, but given the chance he could carry on a great conversation with the best of them.  He was a resident at Pinehurst Senior Living in Honeoye Falls, NY for the past several years.  He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.

Livonia:  On October 17, 2019, at age 83, Paul passed peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family.  Predeceased by his parents Everett & Gertrude Jones and brothers Dick and Bruce Jones.  Survived by his wife of 63 years Barbara (Farrell) Jones; children, Patty (Dave) Crabb, Dan Jones, Linda (David) Shaw, and Kathy (Brian) Hoyt; grandchildren, Kari (DJ) Polmateer, Courtney (Shawn) Philbin, Matt (Jessica Badlam) Crabb, Kelly (Mike) West, Chelsea (Matt) Metzger, Michael (Margaret) Crabb, Allison Shaw, Justice Hoyt, Danielle Hoyt, and Garrett Hoyt; great-grandchildren, Quinn, Sophia, Meredith, Beatrice, Jack, Sullivan, and Jovie; brother Gary (Betty Jean) Jones; sisters-in-law June Jones and Marcia Jones; and brother-in-law Bill (Nettie) Farrell.  Paul is also survived by many other loving family and friends including nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Paul was always busy! He began working on the Jones family farm at the age of 10 and never stopped working hard.  Paul loved building and remodeling any and everything!  There was never a building that could not be remodeled. Many homes in Lima were built or remodeled by Paul.  As a young man, Paul earned his private plane license and enjoyed many a fly-in breakfast. In his later years, Paul enjoyed traveling all over the US.  Paul and Barb enjoyed many trips to the New England states to see the colors, visits with friends in the mid-West and their yearly winter trip to their home in Florida. In the past few years, Paul and Barb were able to visit grandchildren in Colorado and California.  Sports were always a topic of conversation when you talked with Paul.  He played sports as a young man and enjoyed watching sports as he got older. Paul loved watching all his grandchildren play sports and he was always their number one supporter.  Grandchildren visits to Florida often included a MLB spring training game.  Paul enjoyed any MLB game but told his grandchildren he especially liked a game that the Yankees lost. No matter where he was, Livonia or Florida, Paul had his woodworking shop all set up. He enjoyed making wooden toys, bowls and any wood project his family wanted. Having two or three of every tool was always a must!  When not working in the workshop, Paul was found restoring old tractors.  Anytime he spotted a tractor, especially an old beat-up one, it was an automatic purchase. Paul even cleared the overgrowth of his back lot just a few weeks ago with a restored tractor.

No one had a bigger heart than Paul.  He was always available to help any and every one.  Service calls on many appliances were made at all times of day and night, a helping hand was leant for any project and money given anonymously for anyone who needed a bit of help.  Paul spent many hours working with friends at Vitale Park to create Freedom Point to be sure that it was always in beautiful condition and welcoming to visitors.

Paul’s 84 years were full and he thought life could never be better than right here with his family!  Everyone looked forward to visiting Paul; you were always guaranteed a huge bowl of warm, buttery popcorn fresh from the popcorn machine.  It did not matter if it was after Thanksgiving dinner, Sunday afternoon football game, or an evening baseball game, popcorn was always ready. Paul loved his wife dearly, along with his son and three daughters with all his heart. But his proudest moments were when he talked about his greatest loves his 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Each of them provided Paul with entertainment, laughs, extra tight hugs and love beyond measure! Paul’s love for all his family will forever be in our hearts.

Dunedin, FL:  At age 98, Emma passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 10, 2019 at Sun Coast Hospice in Palm Harbor, FL.  She was born in West Sparta, NY to the late Roy and Sarah Popple.  Emma is predeceased by her husband; Charlie Taft, her brothers, Ray Popple and Donald Popple.  Survived by her daughters, Patricia (Bural) LaRue, Sharon (Pete Zirpoli) Staudinger-Zirpoli, Linda (Dennis) Truelson, her grandchildren; Todd (Jill) Staudinger, Scott (Gina) Staudinger, Sarah Truelson, her sister; Esther Shimwell, and her 3 great grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.

Emma grew up on a farm overlooking Conesus Lake and graduated from Geneseo High School in 1938.    After High School she worked various jobs including being a nanny in NYC and a hairdresser in Livonia, where she met the love of her life, Charles.    In 1942 Emma and Charles were married in Chicago where he was stationed while serving in the US Navy.   Later that year when he was sent to serve overseas she moved back to Livonia to the Taft family home on Commercial Street, where she lovingly raised her family and lived for the next 57 years before moving to Florida in 1999 to be with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Emma was an active member of The Livonia United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School, was a member of the church Woman’s Group and a Rotary kitchen volunteer.   When she moved to Florida she attended church at the Kirk of Dunedin, where she was an associate member.

Emma was an avid golfer and belonged to the Livingston Country Club where she was a member of the Ladies League.   When she moved to Florida she was very active, taking daily walks, attending and participating in community activities and made many new friends.

Above all else Emma was a loving, dedicated Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother.   She cared for her family deeply and left a lifetime of love and memories that will be cherished by all of those who were lucky enough to be raised and guided by her loving, kind soul.   She lived a long and wonderful life, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Conesus, NY:  9/5/1929 – 10/15/2019.  Shirley passed peacefully at home on October 15, 2019 surrounded by loving family.  We had recently celebrated her 90^th birthday.

She is predeceased by husband Daniel Raymond Mulvaney in 2007, her parents Vincent and Helen Rosebrugh Donovan, her sister Sarah “Aunt Sally” Pifer, special nephews Jack Allen, Mike Mulvaney and special niece Nancy Pifer.

Shirley graduated from Geneseo Central School and Rochester Business Institute.  She worked at Fanny Farmer Candy after graduation.  She met Dan at the rehearsal for her cousin Jean’s wedding to Dan’s brother Dick.  They married in September 1950 and raised 8 children on the Farm.  After Dan lost his arm in a farm accident 60 years ago life changed.  He went to work at Industry and mom returned to the workforce when Bob started school.  She was hired by Chet Haak to work at the Security Trust bank in Livonia.  When she retired from there she went to work at Livonia Central school to handle Student Activities funds.

She was also involved with St. William’s Rosary Altar Society, St Matthew’s Martha Ministry, Greeter and Eucharistic adoration, Conesus Democrats, Livingston County Democrats, Ganeasous History Keepers, and Cemetary Association.

She loved going to lunch with the Senior Citizens, the LCS retirees, the Geneseo girls, and especially with her cousins Kay and Bob and families.

Livonia: October 13, 2019, at age 86 years, peacefully at his home. Predeceased by his wife Rae Elaine Brol “Susie”, three infant children; George, Elizabeth, and Joseph; parents Walter and Julia Brol, 10 siblings, and daughter-in-law Mary Ann Brol. Survived by children, Paul (LeeAnne) Brol of Henrietta, Raymond (Karen) Brol of Canadice, Timothy Brol of Springwater, and Pamela (Jeffrey) Dailey of Avon. Jerry was born on March 24, 1933 in Great Valley, NY to parents Walter and Julia (Puvel) Brol.  He attended Salamanca High School and later joined the US Air Force serving active duty from 1952-1956.  Jerry served during the Korean Conflict and also served in the reserves until 1960.  He enjoyed gardening, smoking his pipe, and attending church.  He was an usher at St. Matthew Catholic Church for many years.  Jerry retired from Agway in Hemlock, NY where he was the manager and later retired from Eastman Kodak, Rochester, NY.

Conesus:  At age 66, Brenda passed away peacefully, with her family by her side on Monday, October 7, 2019 at her home in Conesus.  She was born in Watertown, NY to James and Viva Hall.  Brenda was predeceased by her father; James Hall, her sister; Gloria Tabor, and her sisters-in-law, Debbie and Ruth Hall.  Survived by her mother; Viva Hall, her children; Shawn Race, Joette Nagle (Travis Pragle), her grandchildren; Britni Nagle (Nick Breedlove), Austin Nagle, Renne` Kennedy, and her siblings; James Hall II, Bonnie (Joe) Goutremount, Jack (Val) Hall, Cynthia (David) Howard, and Richard Hall (Mel), along with her many nieces and nephews.  Brenda was loved by her family and friends very much and she will be greatly missed.

Brenda loved to travel and visited 28 states.  Tennessee was by far her favorite.  She was intrigued by the paranormal, she traveled to many haunted locations to conduct investigations. She enjoyed giving to others, especially during the holiday season.  Brenda loved enjoying natures beauty, but there was something about the beauty of a Daisy that she cherished.  Brenda’s final words were that she was at peace with God.

Livonia Center: At age 77, Joe passed away with his family by his side on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at Highland Hospital in Rochester, NY.  Joe was born in Rochester to the late George and Gertrude Hynes.  Predeceased by his siblings, Gertrude Hoban, Norma Sotir, and Owen Hynes.  Survived by his children; Terry (Tyan) Hynes of Seattle, WA, Sergeant First Class Edward (Cherina Perimon) Hynes of Anahuac, TX, Bob Hynes, Johanna Hynes, and their mother Mary Hynes; his grandchildren; Fiona and Owen Hynes, Lucien Hildreth, Murphy Hynes and their Mother Michelle Struble.  His siblings; Monica (Ralph) Boss, George (Peg) Hynes, Jim (Judy) Hynes, his brother-in-Law; Alex Sotir, and his sister-in-law Pat Hynes, along with many nieces, nephews as well as great nieces and nephews, and lovingly cared for by Amy Hendrickson.

Joe lived a full life, he spent his youth pushing boundaries, and he was fond of telling those stories to his family and friends.  One of his favorites was how at the age of 4 or 5 he managed to convince his older brother to try on their fathers Police issued hand cuffs.  Unfortunately, their father was on a hunting trip with the keys so when the boys could not get the cuffs back off, their mother had to take them to the station to have the desk sergeant remove them.  Joe felt it was a personal triumph that his older brother had to go to the police station shirtless in a snowstorm to get the cuffs removed.  After graduating high school Joe enlisted in the Navy to travel and see the world.  Upon completion of his service he returned to Rochester and became a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.  As an electrician Joe was know as a mentor to many young apprentices, we believe it was during this time that he coined one of his favorite sayings “I can’t believe I taught you everything I know and you still know nothing.”  This was Joes trademark always willing to help, and always ready with a witticism and probably a criticism or two.  For as all who knew Joe can attest Joe had never been wrong in his life, at least according to Joe.  After retiring from the Union Joe became well known a local grocery store where he would spend his days supporting education by playing scratch off lottery tickets for up to eight hours a day.  While some may say that this was an issue to those of us who knew him best it meant he was easy to find.  His son who served in the Army used to state that he would come home on leave drop his bags at the house then head to the customer service desk at West to say hi to Dad.  He spent so much time at that counter scratching tickets that his oldest and youngest sons had to take their future wives and the mothers of their children to the store to meet Joe.  Where it is rumored, he may have even stopped scratching for a second to say hi, though some doubt that was the case.

Honeoye:  Eric (at age 80) and Gail (at age 70) passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September, 24, 2019.  Eric was born in Birmingham, England to the late Walter and Alice Ann Higham and Gail was born in Rome, NY to the late Gilbert and Myrtice Lyndon.  Eric is survived by his sister; Irene Marsh of High Wycombe, UK, his nephew; Andrew P. Marsh and Gail is survived by her brother; James M. Lyndon of Greensboro, NC., her sister-in-law; Dorothy A. Lyndon and his niece and nephews; Christopher (Angie) Lyndon, Amy (Matthew Riell) Lyndon and Matthew (Chele DeRider) Lyndon.

Honeoye:  At age 90, Bruce passed peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 1, 2019, after a full and happy life.  He was born in Rochester, NY to the late Alexander and Jessie Campbell.   Bruce was predeceased by his brother, Alexander “Sandy” Campbell Jr.  He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Survived by his wife Dorothea “Dotty” of 69 years, their children: Sharon (Hank) VanderTang, Cathy, Bruce (Katherine), Laurie (Rich) Gamrod, Kevin (Maria), and Denise (Ric) Skinkle; grandchildren: Alec, Molli and Brooke Campbell, Jessy (Wesley) Wiggins; Alexandra, Victoria and McAndrew Gamrod; Brittany (Robbie) Mackness, Katie (Christian) Marquez and Morgan Campbell; Meg and Craig Skinkle; three great grandchildren: Madison, Elyse, Maverick, and beloved nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Beverly Holland of Oregon and Virginia Koch of Canandaigua.

Bruce graduated from John Marshall HS in 1946, before moving to Honeoye Lake. He joined the US Army and served during the Korean War. After the war, he returned to his career at Eastman Kodak Co., retiring in 1984.  Bruce enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren; traveling in their motor home, camping, renovating houses, and supporting them on the sidelines; leading them with wisdom and encouragement.

Bruce was an active member in the Honeoye community, being a 70 plus year member of the Richmond Fire Department, a member of Masonic Lodge 619, a 29-year member of the Ontario County Planning Board, a member of the Richmond Zoning Board, the Honeoye-Hemlock American Legion 1278, Honeoye United Church of Christ and the Honeoye Historical Society.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, October 7, 2019 from 4-7 at the Kevin W. Livonia:  October 1, 2019 at age 86.  Predeceased by her husband Stephen C. Sheila was born on April 10, 1933 in Rochester, NY the third child of Patrick and Amelia Cleary.  She attended Mercy and Blessed Sacrament High School and graduated from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing, Elmira, NY Class of 1954.  Sheila married Stephen Kozak in 1970 and they moved to Conesus Lake where they built their home and raised their family.  Throughout her nursing career she worked at hospitals and nursing homes but her favorite was taking care of the priests and brothers that resided at St. Michael’s Mission overlooking Hemlock Lake.  After retirement she and Steve traveled to Alaska and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Geneseo/Lakeville:  September 29, 2019.  Beloved father, grandfather, teacher, and football coach, died after an extended illness.  Predeceased by father, Harry Seeley, and mother, Helen (Crandall) Seeley, of Wellsville, N.Y.  Survived by wife, Marilyn (Finn) Seeley; son, Scott Seeley, daughter, Stephanie (Michael) Pizzo; grandsons, Luke and Jacob Seeley, and Michael Pizzo, Jr.; Brothers-in-Law, Rick (Sue) Finn, Thomas (Jane) Finn, and Sister-in-Law, Maureen (Finn) Rohde; nephews, William Rohde, Sean, Patrick, and Michael Finn, Ryan and Josh Finn, John Costik and Fr. Michael Costik; nieces, Jennifer Rohde, Michele (Costik) Pettis, and Chantal (Costik) Travaglini; and several grand-nephews and nieces, friends, extended family members, and many former students and players.

Fred graduated from Wellsville High School and SUNY Brockport with a bachelor’s degree in Education; he completed his post-graduate work at SUNY Geneseo.  Fred taught Mathematics for 33 years, 28 at Geneseo Central School. As Head football coach at Geneseo HS (NY), from 1970 to 1981 he coached teams to two Livingston County Division 1 Championships, four Livingston County Division 2 Championships, and one undefeated season; Fred won two R.T. French Coach of the Year Awards, and led the team to a final State Ranking of #4 [small school poll (NY) before the playoff system].  He also originated the tradition of the annual Valley Ball rivalry game between York and Geneseo, a tradition that continues to this day.

Livonia:  Peacefully at home on September 28, 2019 at age 91.  Predeceased by her husband Arthur Schultz, son Mark Schultz, daughter-in-law Vicki Schultz, grandson Keith Turnbull, parents George & Carrie Rath and 11 siblings.  Survived by children; Douglas Schultz of IN, Terry (Sue) Schultz of NC, Susan (Michael) Hoag of Dansville, Shari (Joseph) DeTar of Leicester, Stephen (Laura) Schultz of York, and Shellie (Brad) Shellenbarger of Livonia; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law Leticia  “Teecie” Schultz; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and many other loving family and friends.

Laurie was born in Hamlin, New York and graduated from Brockport High
School in 1945. She was the eleventh child of George and Carrie Rath. She
worked at Duffy Motts in Hamlin and The Prudential Insurance Company in
Brockport. She married her perfect match, Art Schultz, on September 10th, 1949
at St. John’s Lutheran Church where she was baptised and was a member. She
began married life on the Marine Corps base at Quantico where Art was stationed
and she worked as a secretary. They eventually moved back to Hamlin and later to
Leicester where they raised their seven children. Their retirement years were spent
in Grove at “The Cabin” where they lived until 2003 when they moved in with
Shellie and her family in Livonia. Besides raising her children, Laurie was a Den
Mother, Sunday School Teacher, SUNY Brockport Librarian, St. John’s School
Room Mother, Charter Member of the Hamlin VFW’s Ladies Auxiliary, part time
Legal Secretary for Mr. Butterfield in Brockport, full time Legal Secretary for
Barrett Quirk in Geneseo, Champion line worker, babysitter, member of Genesee
Valley Rotary Camp Kitchen Staff and Teacher’s Aide at Dalton Elementary
School.

Laurie was a woman of great faith and a member of St. Paul Lutheran
Church in Angelica and Epiphany Lutheran Church in East Avon. She was an avid
reader of the Bible and was always praying for or looking for ways to help others.
Laurie was known for her great cooking and baking. She was especially famous for
her desserts of cream puffs, pastries, pies and cookies. The grandkids remember
her for her smiley toast. She liked to sew, knit, draw and paint. She enjoyed
games, especially Euchre and BINGO.

The Schultz Family would like to thank everyone for their love, prayers and
support during this difficult time. We especially want to thank Livingston County
Hospice (Tami Couburn and Karrie) who made it possible for us to carry out her
wish to leave this earth peacefully in her home. We are also thankful for her aides
Paula Murphy and her “Pal Val” Valeria Biracre. Thanks also to the medical
professionals who helped along the way, especially Dr. Aguirre’s office. Laurie
will be remembered as a positive, happy, funny, strong woman who was a privilege
to know.
