William A. Thomas – November 2, 2016

Honeoye/Livonia: November 2, 2016 at age 57 years. Survived by his wife of 37 years Lisa and children; Billy (Jennifer) Thomas and Laura Thomas (Matt Hance); grandchildren, Aurora Hance and Andrew Thomas; parents, William & Jean Thomas; siblings, Sharon (Brian) Johnson, Rosanne (Ralph) Smith, and Scott Thomas (Erika Harp.) Also survived by sister-in-law Reneé (John) Conner, many nieces & nephews, cousins, and friends.

Bill never let anything stop him. He was deaf from early age but managed to have a very successful career in commercial HVAC. When he found out he had a cancerous tumor in his lower left leg and there were two options for treatment: one was a very lengthy process to try to possibly fix his foot and ankle with a very small percent of success or amputation – he told the doctor to just cut the leg off.

He was a hard worker and played hard as well. He loved anything with steam and mechanical. Combine both, and he was a happy camper. He was a railroad historian and collector of railroad memorabilia. All family vacations were planned around historic scenic railroad lines and excursions. Even when he was courting Lisa, their dates usually involved trains.

Bill’s Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 5th, at 10:30am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 8961 Main Street, Rte 20A, Honeoye. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Bill’s memory to the Livonia Ambulance, PO Box 8, Livonia, NY 14487. To send a condolence please visit:

Moore (Marilyn) of Leicester, and Gregory J. Moore (Grace) of Tidioute, Pennsylvania; four granddaughters: Mari Beth Merriman (Scott) of Pewaukee, WI, Ann Jones (Andrew) of Annapolis, MD, Kristin Bosko of Youngsville, PA, and Kimberly Thomas of NC; two grandsons: Clint Moore (Misty) of Youngsville, PA, and Patrick Moore of Leicester, NY; sister-in-law, Helen Macauley, four great grandsons, three great granddaughters, one niece, one nephew, two great nieces, and six great nephews. Agnes was preceded in death by her husband, Lester D. Moore; parents, David and Matilda Macauley; two brothers, James and Clair Macauley; daughter-in-law, Toni Ann Moore.

She was blessed to have a long life spending time with family and friends and she truly loved life, especially living on the family dairy farm. Agnes was a longtime member of the American Legion Auxiliary (The world’s largest women’s patriotic service organization.) Some of her favorite childhood memories were of her friendship and adventures with Barbara Woodward, especially the time they met Amelia Earhart at the Leroy Airport. In later years, Agnes enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a loving and proud daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. She had a passion for crochet, reading, baking, swimming, horseback riding, travelling and tending to her rose garden. Her father David (a professional horse trainer for The Woodward Family of Leroy, NY, as well as journalist, Arthur Brisbane, of Manhattan, NY) owned a farm and multiple racehorses of his own, which contributed to Agnes having a lifelong love of horses. She will be remembered by all who knew her as always having a positive outlook on life. Even during times of adversity her motto was, “This too shall pass.” Agnes also believed that you should never go to bed angry, breakfast was the most important meal of the day, and her personal faith in God was her daily guide for living.

A private memorial will be held by her family at a future date. Memorials may be made to The EquiCenter, at The William & Mildred Levine Ranch, 3247 Rush-Mendon Road, Honeoye Falls, NY 14472. To send a condolence please visit:

Alfred W. Cratsley “Al” – September 15, 2016

scan0002

Honeoye: September 15, 2016 at age 85 years. Predeceased by siblings; George, Irene, Leslie, Earl, and Helen. Survived by his wife of 66 years Lena “Jane” (Rowley) Cratsley and children; Bonnie Thayer, Bruce Cratsley, Betsy (Don) Shaw, and Brian Cratsley. Grandchildren; Raphael, Adrian, Todd, Tammy, Benjamin, Emily and 5 great-grandchildren. Also survived by his twin brother Arthur (Priscilla) Cratsley and many nieces and nephews.

The youngest of seven children, Al and his twin brother Art were born on September 14, 1931 to Walter and Carrie Cratsley at their homestead on Cratsley Hill Road in the Town of Canadice. In 1937 they moved to a farm house on West Lake Road where Al spent the rest of his childhood. As time went on he met the love of his life, Jane Rowley and they got married on June 13, 1950. Al and Jane purchased some property from Al’s dad on West Lake Road, built a house and there they raised their four children.

Al and Jane were a team – they worked together throughout their marriage. In the early years, they owned an excavation business – installing wells, driveways, septic systems and breakwalls all around the area. After injuring his back, Al moved onto roofing & siding starting Twin Home Improvement with his brother, Art. When Art left the business, Jane took over helping Al well into the 90’s. In 1965 Al continued his dad’s dream and he and Jane opened Cratsley Bait Farm, renting boats and selling live bait and tackle. They also wholesaled their bait to area retailers. When they could no longer run the business, they closed it and started selling gourmet meats door to door for Anchors Away. They would drive all around the southern tier and northern Pennsylvania using Al’s natural selling ability.

Al had several interests and belonged to several organizations. He was an avid sports fan and hated missing a game of Syracuse Orange basketball and Boston Red Sox baseball. He had a love of country music and attended every concert of his favorite artists in the area for many years. Al enjoyed fishing and hunting his whole life. He was chairman of Region 8 fish committee of NYS where he helped to write fishing regulations in the Finger Lakes some of which are still in effect today. Al was also a member of the Genesee Valley Trappers Association and held high honors for his fur trapping in his early years. Al belonged to the Richmond Fire Department & Ambulance Squad and just celebrated his 50th year as a member this past February at their banquet and he was a long standing member of the Northern Central & Western New York Firemens Associations.
