William A. Brown of Geneseo died Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at Highland Hospital. Bill was born August 14, 1932 son of Roland and Elizabeth Hall Brown. After serving in the Navy during the Korean War, Bill worked as a Foreman for Rochester Telephone Corp. He enjoyed flying and building model airplanes, model trains, and was an antique wooden boat enthusiast. Bill, AK2D, was a Ham Radio Operator. He was an avid gardener, handyman, took pleasure in fishing and playing euchre. He loved Conesus Lake, The Gulf Coast of Florida and would search the beaches for shark teeth and sand dollars. Bill cherished his walks with Duncan.

Bill was predeceased by his parents, brother Ralph Brown; brother-in-law Robert T. Griffin; sister-in-law Virginia A. Scott; and brother-in-law Donald Herring. Annie L. Oldershaw, age 56, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2010, surrounded by her loving family. Annie was a librarian in the Irondequoit Public Libraries for over 25 years before moving to Livonia where she operated an online used book store and enjoyed walking her dogs Copper and Patrick.

She is survived by her long-time partner, Jim Mayo, parents Peter and Marion Oldershaw of Seabright, Nova Scotia, Canada, sister Eileen McKelvey (John) of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and niece Laura Catalano (Jeff) of St. Louis, Missouri, her great-nephews Robbie and Charlie, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Francis H. Jischke of Lakeville, NY and New Smyrna Beach, FL, passed away Feb. 3, 2010 in Floriday at age 89. Fran was predeceased by his wife June, and son Jerry. He is survived by sons; Jack (Deb), Francis C. “Lanny” (Sandi), Kenneth (Jo Ann), Mark, Craig (Jackie), Daniel (Kim); 17 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; close friend Rita.

For many years, Fran worked as a mechanic for Ridge Lumber. He raced stock cars at the Monroe County Fairgrounds, Hemlock Fairgrounds and at a dirt track in PA. He was one of the drivers in the early years of NASCAR and he raced once on Daytona Beach. He loved to hunt, fish and go camping. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Constance ” Coonie” Mothorpe 82 years of Lakeville died Sunday night, July 11, 2010 at Teresa House in Geneseo. She was born in the Bronx, NY the daughter of Theodore and Clara Schwartz Piehnik. Howard M. Ayers, 61, died peacefully July 11, 2010, surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his parents, George S. & Vera N. Ayers of East Avon. Doris M. “Dorie May” Duger of Avon died Thursday July 8, 2010 at the home of her daughter after a lengthy illness. She was born in Avon, NY May 29, 1924 the daughter of Burrell and Mary Fridd Jacobs. M. Helen Belmont, 82 years, of Canandaigua, formerly of Honeoye, died unexpectedly July 4, 2010 at FF Thompson Hospital, in Canandaigua. She was born in Rochester, NY November 21, 1927 the daughter of Harold and Marie Turner. Helen had previously worked at Eastman Kodak Co. She was a member of the Home Bureau in Greece, and St. John the Evangelist Church in Greece. Helen was a member of the PTA at Honeoye Central School, St. Mary’s Church in Honeoye, along with the Altar and Rosary Society. She also attended St. Mary’s Church in Canandaigua and the Chapel at the VA Hospital in Canandaigua. Her children remember her as the “Best Mom Forever”.

A Navy Veteran, Tom was past owner of Network Industrial Tire. Previously employed by Swiftlift, working in the forklift industry for many years. He was a past member of Livingston County Farm Bureau Board of Directors, Livingston County 4-H Leader, Hemlock Fair Board, RARA (N2CPD).

Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching the wildlife on their 62 acre property. He also assisted Donna and Andrew with their Day Old Pheasants. Tom liked baling hay much to his family’s dismay. He will miss teaching his grandchildren about natures wonders.

Conesus: David F. Nice, 59 years, of Conesus died Sunday, June 27, 2010 at his Conesus home following a long illness. He was born in Dansville, NY, August 10, 1950, the son of Donald Nice and Barbara Smith Fowler. David was a US Army Veteran serving his country from 1970 until his discharge in February 1973. On June 17, 1978 he married the former Laurel Holbrook. An electronics technician, he was employed by the US Postal Service prior to his retirement. David was a long time member of the American Legion. He was predeceased by his mother, Barbara Smith Fowler, sister Lizbet Faine, and step-father John Fowler.

William R. VanDerMeid, 85, of Livonia June 23, 2010. Bill was born August 22, 1944, the third and final son of Clarence and Florence Clapp VanDerMeid. He and his brothers, Edward and Robert grew up on Main Street, Livonia. They worked with their father on the family farm which consisted of 40 acres of the rich muck land in South Livonia, growing celery and onions there for shipping all over this country.

After graduating from Livonia Central School, Bill spent time at Cornell Univeristy, continuing to work with his father. He married his school sweetheart, Shirley on March 1, 1947. Bill and Shirley raised their two children on Main Street Livonia. Bill worked for a while at Kodak, but hated the commute. He purchased additional muck land, growing potatoe and other crops for Western New York stores. Later, Bill sold and repaired dairy equipment for DeLaval all over Monroe, Ontario and Livingston Counties, eventually oning his own lawn moving business.

Survived by his wife of 63 years Shirley VanDerMeid. Son James (Shirley) VanDerMeid of Wayland and daughter Lynda Robinson of Livonia. Grandchildren: Michael (Shamrock) VanDerMeid of Livonia, Nicole VanDerMeid of Frederick, MD, Timothy (Cassandra) Robinson of Avon, Daniel (Justine) Robinson of Summerville, SC and Kristina Robinson of Ft. Terry Michael Leonard of Honeoye: June 14, 2010 at age 63 after a courageous and inspirational fight against cancer. Terry was predeceased by his parents Verne and Dorothy Ide Leonard. Caledonia: June 1, 2010 at age 30 years after a courageous fight with cancer. Survived by husband, Michael C. Bartgis and son Tyler Bartgis. Parents Thomas and Mary Lynne Seifert and brother Timothy Seifert.

Cathy was a graduate of Caledonia-Mumford School continuing her education at Genesee Community College and Roberts Wesleyan College where received her bachelors in Business Administration. She was an employee of Paychex working in the human resources department. She married Michael Bartgis and they had their son Tyler who is now five years old.

While attending college she worked part time at the gym and became very active in physical fitness. Even after being diagnosed with cancer she ran many marathons and kept herself busy. She loved to run, bicycle,, workout, and spend time with her family and friends. She was truly optomistic and always thinking of others besides herself. She loved animals and being outdoors. She lived for her family, Mike and Tyler, everyday…..they were the highlight of her life. She was a voice and advocate for cancer awareness. She attended many seminars regarding her illness….she tried to be an inspiration to others! She spent many hours in Chemo treatment at the Pluta Cancer Center. The family wishes to extend sincere thanks and appreciation for all the tender care and loving compassion given to Cathy. Also thanks are extended to Dr. Brian Yirinec and nurse Gail who took great care of her.

Cathy was always supported by her husband Michael, son Tyler, her parents Tom and Mary Lynne, and brother Tim. She loved to be a Aunt to her nephew Brayden.
