Howard M. Ayers, 61, died peacefully July 11, 2010, surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his parents, George S. & Vera N. Ayers of East Avon. Howard is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Wanda Rookey Ayers; Daughter Tammy (Robert) Davis of Conesus; Son, Steve Ayers (Michele Colligan) of Springwater; Beautiful grandchildren, Kendra, Rachel, Chris, Matthew, Kimberlee & Sean Colligan; Brother-in-law, Arthur L. (Jane) Rookey of Syracuse; Nephews, Michael, Jonathan & Alan Rookey; Other loving family members, including Glenda Walkley Ayers, and all his friends & fire department families.
He enjoyed camping at Skybrooke in Dansville, with dear and supportive friends. Howard was a volunteer fireman for 41 years, serving East Avon for 5 years, Lakeville, 36 years and served as Fire Chief, and most recently Springwater. He held many positions throughout his firefighting years, recently reaching his goal of becoming a committee member of FASNY. He was a life member of the Livingston County Volunteer Firemens Association, served as president and life member of the WNYVFA, life member of Livingston County Fire Chiefs Association, & charter member of the Lakeville Fire Dept. Exempt Club. Howard will be sady missed by all whose lives he touched so very deeply.
Friends may call Tuesday, 6-9 PM & Wednesday, 2-4 & 6-9 PM at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., Routes 15 & 20A, 21 Big Tree St., Livonia, where services will be held Thursday at 11 AM.
