Bonita Springs, FL/Conesus Lake: On Thursday May 20, 2021 Eileen Mary O’Brien – Stokes, 77 years old, took her last breath within this world, surrounded by those she loved. She has now begun her eternal life where the Lord has called her home.
Eileen Mary O’Brien-Stokes was born on September 17 in Rochester, New York to the late William and Alberta O’Brien. She was raised among six children in Rochester and graduated from Our Lady of Mercy high school. Eileen attended Brockport College and for a period of time taught grade school. She soon became very busy raising and unconditionally loving her three children. She would later join the Department of Social Services in Canandaigua, New York and eventually retire form there as the Director of Office for the Aging.

Eileen was married to her soul mate, David, for more than 30 years. They shared a love and a passion for life like no other. They traveled many places together, shared a delicious meal, and were always visiting the local movie theatre for the latest feature. They doted over one another each and every day and remained fully committed to their beautiful marriage.

David and Eileen moved to Florida nearly 20 years ago and continued the quest of building relationships with different people and joining community activities and organizations. Eileen belonged and ran several book clubs, would oversee her “Knit Wits” knitting group, helped organize a monthly Euchre Club gathering and could always be found at her local communities’ “Ladies Night Out.” She made many friends and her loyalty to those she loved will forever be missed.

Eileen is predeceased by her step-daughter; Sheryl A. Stokes and by her sister; Margaret Jacobs. Eileen is survived by her one true love, David, and her three fiercely independent children: Analisa Dominic (Kevin Bailey); Kevin Dominic (Beth); Jennifer Dominick (Jim); Jeffrey Stokes (Lin). The most precious of those she has left behind are her eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild. She is also survived by three amazing sisters Sharon Griffith (Cliff); Susan Radcliff (Mike), and Mary Ellen (Terri) Lee.

Canadice:   Andrew passed away from Covid related complications Sunday, May 16, 2021, at age 62. Predeceased by his father Daniel A. Dragone.  He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Crystal (Fite) Dragone: his loving children Trip Grant, Corey Grant, and Shanna (Khoa) Diep; his loving grandchildren, Joshua Diep and Zachary Grant; mother Marie (Aha) Dragone; brothers, Stephen Dragone, Daniel C. Honeoye Lake: At age 97, Dorothy (Dottie) passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at her home on Honeoye Lake on Sunday, April 18, 2021. Dorothy Ann Isaac Gotham was born in Rochester, NY, on August 6, 1923 to the late Joseph and Elsie Ritz Isaac. She was predeceased by Clinton O. Gotham, her loving husband of 55 years, and her 6 siblings.

Dottie was a 1944 graduate of the UR School of Nursing and retired as an Infant Education Teacher from the Onondaga County ARC of Syracuse where she lived for 45 years. She loved to garden, cook, sew, quilt, relax on the lake, and spend time with her family and friends. Dottie was famous for her homemade lemon meringue pie and her love of all things chocolate, especially dark chocolate.

Livonia, NY/Rochester, NY:  James “Jimmy” Wesley Stiner, 41, of Livonia, NY,  passed away from a heart attack on Saturday, April 17, 2021.

Anyone who had the honor to meet Jimmy would tell you that he was larger than life and one of the kindest souls to walk this earth. He always had a smile on his face and was always checking in on everyone he knew to make sure they were doing well. Jimmy loved to listen to music and dance and was especially fond of The Grateful Dead, Phish, and Twiddle. He was also a big Pittsburgh Steelers fan through and through. He was pure light and love in a world of increasing darkness. He will be sorely missed.

Jimmy worked for the local bricklayer union, BAC Local 11, for 15 years after graduating from Livonia High School in 1997. He suffered from a long-term addiction to drugs and alcohol, which led to his eventual rehabilitation in 2019. Since then, Jimmy worked steadily with Foodlink in Rochester, preparing and packaging food for local schools and helping distribute food to those in need in the greater Rochester area. Foodlink provided Jimmy an opportunity to get back on his feet through their Fellow program, and he was the first person in New York State to be licensed as a chef journeyman. Jimmy was so proud of the skills he learned there and the steps he was making in life. Above all, he was so proud to stay clean. It is a true irony of life for a heart attack to have taken him, just as he was beginning to truly thrive in society.

Jimmy is survived by one son, Joshua Wesley Stiner of Brighton, who was the love of his life, and his reason for living and staying sober, and former wife Amy Giebel of Brighton. He also leaves behind his parents, James Stiner, of Nauvoo, PA and Cindy Graham, of Liberty, PA; his brother, William (Jessica) Stiner of Pittsburgh, PA; his grandmothers, Tracy Ladue of Rochester and Wanda Graham of Liberty, PA; aunts and uncles Heather, Bob, Rick, Pete, and Gina; cousins Darick, Jesse, and Sloane; and many chosen family members and friends whom he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers Melvin Graham of Liberty, PA, James Stiner of Canton, PA, and Robert Ladue of Rochester and uncle William.

Livonia, NY:  At age 96, Mary passed peacefully on April 16, 2021 at the MM Ewing Continuing Care Center in Canandaigua , NY.   She was born on March 4, 1925 in Buffalo NY to the late Frank and Jennie (Gugino) Muscato.  Survived by son George (Sandy) Harvey; grandchildren, Kristin (Pedro) Citan, Tim (Penny) Hensler, Carol (Mike) Dotterweich, and Christine Hensler; 9 great-grandchildren; brother William (Barbara) Muscato; many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

Mary graduated from Hemlock School and later joined the Women’s Air Force during the Korean Conflict.  She always enjoyed being with family, being “Grandma Mary” and always had a faithful pet by her side.  Mary had a variety of careers.  One of her first was as a telephone operator.  She worked many years for Taylor Instrument calibrating barometers.  Other jobs included making circuit boards for Cunningham Corp. and as a machinist for Gleason Works and Crosman Arms.  Her favorite position was doing detailed craft work part-time for Smidgens in Lima, which she did until she was 90.  Along the way she also went to nursing school and was an LPN nurse.  In her spare time she was a talented artist and known for her cross stitch creations.  One of her joys was creating cross stitch pictures, bookmarks and ornaments which she generously gave to family and friends.

Conesus, NY:  Daniel “Dan” Raymond Mulvaney II, 58, of Conesus, NY passed away from a brain aneurysm on Friday, April 16th, 2021.

Ask anyone in Livingston county (and the surrounding counties, too!), and they’ll tell you exactly what kind of man Dan was. He was a friend to all, always putting everyone else before himself. He was always willing to lend a hand, and he was always the first to ask how he could help.

Dan was a 1981 graduate of Livonia where he played football, volleyball, and sang in the Chorus, all while working to learn the ins and outs of the family farm. He was also a graduate of the two-year Agricultural Science program at Alfred State University in preparation to take over the farm.

He went on to run the family farm for nearly 40 years, milking cows twice a day, baling hay, harvesting crops, welding and fixing his own machines— 18 hours a day with no vacations. But the chores were never a chore for Dan— he loved being outside and was extremely proud to carry on the legacy of Mulvaney Farms. Even after making the decision to transition away from dairy farming, Dan maintained the land and the crops in partnership with his friend Adrian.

Dan was a lifelong resident of Conesus, and in 2019, he went to work for the Town Highway Department. This transition allowed him to continue working outside in the community he loved, while also affording him more flexibility in his schedule. He used that new schedule to his advantage, traveling to Europe, Chicago, and on many more local trips on the motorcycle with his beloved wife, Nancy.

His new schedule also allowed him to take up camping. Some of his fondest childhood memories were of camping with his parents and seven siblings, and he was able to rekindle that love in adulthood. Thanks to the guidance of his friends the Strollos, Sparks, and Loseys, he became an avid camper across the Finger Lakes region.

Dan loved everyone he met, but he held a special love for his children and especially his grandchildren. Of all his jobs throughout his life, his most cherished role was being “Papa Dan.” Tea parties in tiaras, hide and seek, flying kites, petting cows, and jumping in puddles were just some of his favorite activities. His home became known as “The House of Yes.”

Dan was predeceased by his father Daniel Mulvaney, his mother Shirley Donovan Mulvaney, and his dear cousin Jack Allen.

Livonia:  At age 84, Reggie passed away at Edinburg Regional Medical Center in Edinburg Texas on Wednesday, April 14,2021.  He was born in Rochester, NY to the late Reginald & Margaret Lynn and is also predeceased by his sister Joanne.  Survived by his loving wife of 64 years; Mary Lynn, his children; Joanne Neu and Christopher Lynn, his sisters; Donna and Margaret, and his grandchildren; Christopher (Val) Lynn, Killian (Caroline) Neu, and Devlynn Neu, along with several great-grandchildren.

Reggie loved gardening, hunting and fishing. He was also an artist with many talents, his paintings and sculptures are scattered all over the US, Canada and Mexico. Reggie was a Navy veteran and retired from Rochester Telephone. He & Mary loved both their homes in Livonia and McAllen Texas, where they were surrounded by wonderful friends.  They loved travelling the country and visiting Canada and Mexico in their motorhome.  Reggie loved Livonia, and was an active member of the Livonia Alumni Association.

He was probably known best for his gardening and flower beds which he took great pride in. When you drove by his house you absolutely knew what house it was by the different flower and rock gardens. Most of all Reggie loved his family and absolutely adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know him.

Livonia:  At age 81, Lance passed peacefully at home on April 11, 2021.  He was born on February 14, 1940 in Penn Yan, NY to the late Rudolph Sr. and Florence (Sperbeck) Parker.  Survived by his wife of 60 years, Nancy (Farnbaugh) Parker and children; Lance C. Parker Jr. of Livonia, Fred Parker of SC, Celeste (Patrick) O’Dea of Livonia, and Julie (David) Neal of VA; grandchildren, Cory Parker, David Parker, Jessica (Stephen) Clayton, Shaun O’Dea, Ryan O’Dea, Chelsea O’Dea, Matthew Neal, Christopher Neal, and Devin Parker; great-grandchildren, Hunter Wasko, Alexander Clayton, and Harper Clayton; twin brother Vance (Sandy) Parker, brother Rudolph Jr. (Jackie) Parker, and sister-in-law Danielle Farnbaugh; also survived by several cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and his church family at the Lakeville UCC.

Lance graduated in 1958 from Thomas Edison High School in Elmira Heights.  In 1959 he joined the United States Coast Guard, married his wife Nancy in 1961, and was honorably discharged in 1963.  He was stationed on the USCG Westwind an icebreaker in the Arctic Circle.  Lance then attended RBI earning his associates degree in accounting.  He retired after 30 years of service with Xerox in Rochester, NY.

Over the years Lance participated in many sports and coached Little League Baseball, Vince Lombardi Football, Junior Bowling, and Girls Softball, positively impacting hundreds of young lives.  He was a world class hugger who never treated anyone as a stranger.

Livonia, NY:  At age 86, Anita passed peacefully at home on April 11, 2021 on her father’s birthday.  She was born in Rochester, NY to the late Michael and Lena (Provenzano) DiBella.  In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her daughter Michelle Stefano.  Survived by her husband of 64 years, James V. Stefano Sr. and children; Jim (Virginia) Stefano, Jr. of Livonia, John Stefano of FL, and Gary (Concordia) Stefano of NJ; grandchildren, Leanne (Eric) Bohannon, Jeanne (Don) Brown, Cheyenne Michelle Stefano, Dakota Stefano, Cole Stefano, Nicolena Stefano and James Stefano; great-grandchildren, Gianna, Maria, Clara, Mark, Donald Jr., and James; sister Barbara (Patrick) Fornataro and many loving nieces, nephews, in-laws, caring cousins, godchild Kelvin Dowd and her friend Grace Dowd who pre-deceased her.

Anita was born and raised on Sherman St. in Rochester and was closest to her sister Barbara, cousin Diane and her Uncle John and Aunt Cutchie Provenzano.  She attended Nazareth Academy, where many of her classmates became lifelong friends, and graduated from Rochester Business School.  Anita met Jim on a blind date, were married in 1956, and built their home and raised their children in Henrietta.  She became a medical secretary for the Rochester Ophthalmological Group for many decades, making forever friends with Kim Walker, Chris Jones and Mary Hopp (deceased), and Mary’s sister’s Ann Barbato and Evelyn Thompson (both since deceased).

Anita and Jim moved to Livonia in the 70’s making that their home, and had one of the first Bed and Breakfasts in the area in the late 1980s. They built a new home in 2006.  Anita made their homes always open to their neighbors, many new friends they made over the years, and to her extended family, in-laws, nieces and nephews.  Her grand daughter Jeanne moved across the street and was like a daughter to her and Jim, and she was closest to her niece Patti Fornataro.

Anita and Jim traveled to many destinations with one purpose in mind, to visit family and friends.  Anita always had a camera in-hand to capture and keep those moments close to her.  The phone calls never stopped at the house nor did the flow of great Italian food and her special Sicilian Pizza recipe handed down from her mother Lena.  Anita helped her son Jim capture her “secret” minestrone recipe in her final days.   Her neighbor Sheila Wolf later became her special caregiver in her home, which was her final resting place after a progressive battle with congestive heart failure.  A special thanks to Dr.’s Andrew Wolfe and Ryan Nelson for their outstanding personal care over the years.

Geneseo: At age 65, Gary passed away at his home in Geneseo on Saturday, April 10, 2021. He was born in Rochester, NY to the late John and Lucy Jager. Survived by his beloved wife of 42 years; Laurie Jager, his devoted children; Taylor Jager (Katie Walrath) and Brianna Jager (Nick Bruno), his brother; John (Gail) Jager, his sister; Sandra (Brian) Conheady, his mother and father-in-law; Earl and Beverly Ruf, his brothers-in-law; James, Tommy, Steven (Denise), Jerry (Kathy) Ruf and his sister-in-law; Sheree Ruf, along with several nieces, nephews and friends.

Conesus, NY:  April 8, 2021 at age 64.  LaVern was born on June 23, 1956 to the late Archie and Shirley (Waldon) Boylan.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers John and Greg Boylan.  Survived by his sister Deb (John) Cosco of East Rochester and nieces, Chelsea Cosco and Kaylee (Brian) Matzen, friends, his church family, and his beloved pets Gabriel and Michael.

Lima, NY.  On Tuesday, April 6, 2021, Trijntje (Thea) Bodenstaff, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at the age of 94.

Trijntje Blaauwbroek was born in Oosterwolde, Friesland in the Netherlands on January 12, 1927, to parents Harm and Ebeltje (Vonk), as the only daughter in a family of four sons.  After enduring many excruciating years in the Netherlands under Nazi occupation during WWII, Trijntje emigrated to the United States of America with her husband and infant daughter on May 6, 1949.

The traumas presented by suffering under Hitler’s control instilled in Thea a profound appreciation for the country that she now called home and the American freedoms that it provided.  She was unwaveringly grateful for the opportunity to vote, never neglecting a chance to exercise this privilege or speak to others about the need to appreciate this liberty.  Despite her failing health, Thea insisted on completing her ballot in November 2020, proudly demonstrating that her voice mattered, after experiencing a regime that had silenced her views as insignificant.  Thea’s deep-rooted patriotism was a hallmark of her character and, whether waving a flag at a parade or saluting the soldiers that liberated her hometown, she was eternally grateful for the country that had adopted her as its own.

Thea was married to the love of her life, Herman Bodenstaff, for 44 years.  After emigrating to America, Thea and Herman settled and raised three daughters in the Rochester area.  She was a skilled homemaker and an active member of the community, participating in PTA and enjoying many years as a Girl Scout Troop leader.  For over 30 years, Thea volunteered at the Rochester General Hospital Oncology Center, finding immense joy in attending the needs of the patients and assisting the staff.  Her childhood aspiration was to become a nurse, but the occupation of her home country stipulated that she use those nursing skills for the Nazi regime, something she refused to do.  Her morals led her to sacrifice that dream until she found an outlet at the RGH.  Recognized as ‘Volunteer of the Year’ for her work at the hospital, she stated, “I love people.  You get so much out of what you put in.  We just all need to show each other more love.”

An avid gardener and nature enthusiast with unsurpassed skill, Thea’s beautiful gardens and talented green thumb were the envy of many.  She remained active in bowling leagues, Women’s Life Benefit Society, Silver Sneakers exercise group, wood carving, painting and the Lima Golden Agers.  She was a masterful knitter, spending many hours crafting hats for newborns at area hospitals or designing sweaters and blankets for chilly family and friends.  She also held a passion for traveling the world and appreciating the intense beauty to be found, despite the early hardships she had endured and evil she had seen.  Never willing to turn down an adventure, Thea’s 94 years were focused on imparting love, enjoying her family and appreciating the world around her with every moment that was granted to her.

Thea was predeceased by her husband, Herman, and daughter, Evelyn Kirkwood.  She is survived by her daughters Nancy (Joe) Barkan of Geneseo, NY, Louise (Richard) Utter of Salem, SC, son-in-law Jim Kirkwood of Lima, NY, grandchildren Jim (Julie) Kirkwood, Kim Barkan, David (Anna) Kirkwood, Kristy (Nick Warner) Barkan & Jeff Barkan.  Also surviving are five great-grandchildren; Lucy, Molly, Freddy, Kate & Henry, of whom Thea was exceptionally proud.  Thea leaves behind many nieces, nephews and relatives both in the USA and the Netherlands.  The family would like to also thank Thea’s devoted friend, Mrs. Margaret Paradise, for her support and friendship.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the family will be holding an outdoor celebration of life at an undetermined date in the Summer of 2021.  Details will be forthcoming.

A private graveside service will be held in the future at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Livonia, NY.

In addition, the family would like to acknowledge the exceptionally caring and skilled staff at the Avon Nursing Facility for the wonderful comfort and love they have provided Thea during such a difficult year.  We are overwhelmingly grateful to all of you.
