H. Christopher Heim ~ April 25, 2022

Avon: Harold Christopher Heim (Chris), 66, passed away peacefully after a courageous 3.5 year battle with pancreatic cancer on Monday, April 25, 2022 at the Teresa House in Geneseo. He was born on March 22, 1956 in Muncy, Pennsylvania to the late Harold and Stella Heim. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Alice, his children Dwight (48 of Saint Augustine, Florida) and wife Kelly, and Kristen Drummey (40 of Sudbury, Massachusetts) and her husband Alex, his grandchildren April (26), Elyse (15), Noah (14), Jack (12), Lucy (10) and Katy (7), and countless relatives and friends whose lives he touched in immeasurable ways.

While he lived out his final days in Avon, Chris’ heart never left the ball fields of Fairport, nor his lakeside home in Livonia, NY. The type of fisherman that always had a story bigger than the fish at the end of the line, Chris was the embodiment of the idea that the journey is more important than the destination.

Chris was a people person, through and through, and spent his working life in sales of all kinds – real estate, car sales, pizza, records – you name it, he sold it – but his professional pursuits were always primarily about finding connections with other people.

His true passion was for his children and their hobbies, and most days you could find him coaching football, basketball, baseball and softball. While his commitment to coaching outlived his own children’s athletic careers, he continued helping other kids develop in their sport at HAC for many years before turning to watching his grandchildren compete at their chosen craft – be it surfing, hockey, baseball, or softball, in person and then over the computer when he could no longer travel. Keeping up with their athletic endeavors brought him genuine joy and helped foster a strong connection with each of his children and grandchildren.

Always more concerned with the comfort of those around him than himself, Chris’ final days were spent entertaining his loved ones with stories of his past, hopes for their futures, and promises to look out for all from above.

A Memorial Service will take place at 11AM on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 5015 Lakeville Road in Geneseo, NY.

Memorial Contributions may be made to: Wilmot Cancer Center (urmc.rochester.edu), Juvenile T1D (www.jdrf.org), and/or Teresa House of Geneseo NY (teresahouse.org).

Michael R. Marshall – March 24, 2022

Conesus Lake:  At age 87, Mike passed peacefully on March 24, 2022.  He was born on February 19, 1935 in Rochester, NY to the late Michael and Ardeth (Doe) Marshall.  In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother Keith Marshall, sister Ardeth Marshall, and niece Victoria Simpson.  Survived by his wife of 68 years, Janet (Rossborough) Marshall and children;  Michael (Trish) Marshall of NC, Karen (Art) Bernecker of Retsof, and Molly (Greg) Berger of Conesus; grandchildren, Melissa (Aram) Kazazian, Rebecca Marshall, Matthew (Colleen) Marshall, Michael (Suzanne) Marshall, Emily (William) Schroeder, Kaitlyn (Ben) Ogburn, Mitchell (Lindsay) Berger, Zachary Berger, Aaron Berger, and Andrea (Jason) Sorg; 15 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Judy Marshall, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Some knew him as coach, but his family referred to him as Grampy.

If there was ever a sporting  that his children or grandchildren were in you could be assured he was sitting in the stands, cheering them on. After the event there was much talk and strategizing over a beer and then of course, just 1 more.

He and his brother Keith were passionate about coaching Vince Lombardi football for 10+ years. He also loved to plan days of blackberry picking, trips to Florida, and fishing trips. Especially the Lantern Lounge derby’s with his kids and grandkids.

He was everyone’s Santa. Every year he would have multiple requests from various nursery schools to come and be Santa. He got such enjoyment out of keeping that magic alive. He would ask each kid if they had been good all year and then would carefully listen to what they would like. But he especially enjoyed seeing their eyes light up when the much anticipated Santa arrived

But most of all he cherished his family. Showing us all each and everyday that we were his priority. He taught us all the importance of family.

He was very generous to offer his babysitting, watching endless cartoons, prepping the boat for whatever that days outing would be, his endless teasing which no one and nothing were off limits, but most of all his patience. He always said “I am not in a hurry I can wait all day.”

You never doubted his unconditional love. We thank you Grampy and are forever grateful for the life lessons you taught us. You will be missed for sure but never forgotten. We will pass on the lessons you taught us to our kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.

We love you so very much but are thankful you are at peace.   Cheers and here is to “Just 1 more!”

A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at 2pm on Friday, July 1, 2022 at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home Inc., 21 Big Tree Street, Livonia, NY.  Following the service friends may gather at the Lantern Lounge in Livonia.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Livonia Ambulance, PO Box 8, Livonia, NY 14487 or Livonia Rotary Club, PO Box 307, Livonia, NY 14487.  To send a condolence or share a memory please visit:  www.doughertyfuneralhomes.com
