Andrew P. Temple ~ March 11, 2020

Andrew P. Temple, 29, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 in Canandaigua, NY. 
 
Born in Mineola, NY, to loving parents Roxanne and Arthur Temple, he always knew the importance of being close to family. He is survived by his brother Arthur (Shannon) Temple, his sister Amy (Joshua) Edwards, his grandparents Ruth and Warren Draper, and nieces and nephews Riley Temple, Alley Kernaghan, Lilly Temple, Rose Edwards, and Alexandria Edwards. 
 
Andrew will be most remembered for always having a smile on his face.  Andrew was a 2009 graduate of Honeoye.  While in school, he participated in Cross Country Track and Indoor Track. As an adult, he enjoyed Frisbee golf and playing Fantasy Football. He loved his dog, Bella. Andrew loved festival music, professional football, and would talk your ear off about Professional Wrestling or the UFC. There were many hobbies Andrew enjoyed in his life. He excelled in Martial Arts and obtained his Third Degree Black Belt in Tatsu-Do Karate. He held Black Belts in both Aiki and Iai Jut-Su. He was often used as a Uke by Soke Cavalier. In Karate, this is a respectable position.  He also spent time in the summers fishing with his family. It was a known fact that he would catch the biggest bass on any fishing trip. His nieces and nephew enjoyed spending time with their Uncle Andrew.  He was always willing to wrestle with them because it was something the kids loved. Andrew is loved and adored by his family.
 
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, March 15, from 1 to 4 at the American Legion at 4931 County Road 36 (West Lake Road) in Honeoye

William H. Woodruff “Woody” – March 9, 2020

Lakeville:  March 9, 2020 at age 81.  Woody was born on August 14, 1938 in Rochester, NY to the late Theodore and Grace (Tanner) Woodruff.  Predeceased by son Scott in 2014 and daughter Michelle in 2019.  Survived by his wife of 25 years Laura Woodruff; daughter Cheryl (Steve) Baker of Rochester and son Thomas Newcomb (Lois Baker) of Hornell; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and his beloved pets Muffin Man and Mitsy.

Woody attended Livonia Central School District and later joined the US Navy from 1956-1962.  He served as a Boilerman Petty Officer 2nd class on the USS Cony and the USS Kidd.  After his time in the Navy he returned to Lakeville, NY and for many years was a roofer for several contracting companies.  The most recent was Finger Lakes Roofing in Fishers, NY.

Shirley May (White) Long ~ March 9, 2020

Livonia: At age 91, Shirley passed peacefully on March 9, 2020. Predeceased by her husband, O. Richard Long Jr. Survived by her loving daughters; Karen (Dan) Finch and Nancy (Brian) Greenwald; grandchildren, Matthew (Anne) Finch, Michael Finch, Jonathan (Jackie) Finch, Adam Greenwald, Amy (Tom) Langworthy; and felt blessed to enjoy her many greatgrandchildren.

Shirley lived a life dedicated to her daughters and her husband. She was a loving mother, grandmother and “Grammie” to her ever-growing family. She was a hostess extraordinaire, welcoming her children, extended family, and friends into her and Richard’s home and also into their cabin, “Grandpa’s Park,” in Prattsburgh, NY. She worked several jobs that allowed her to always be home with her school age daughters including school crossing guard and part time sales person at Sibley’s Downtown. For over 25 years she worked at Monroe High School in Rochester, NY where she was a paraprofessional and served as president of the paraprofessional’s union.  Shirley rose to be a leader in all her volunteer organizations, jumping in with both feet and accepting any responsibility that would cause the organization to be of service to the community.  She was a devoted member of Emmanuel and Grace United Methodist Churches in Rochester and, more recently, the United Methodist Church of Livonia. She lived her life with an open heart and an open home.

Calling hours will be held at the United Methodist Church of Livonia, 21 Summers Street, Livonia, NY on Wednesday, March 11th, from 4 to 7p.m. Shirley’s funeral service will be held at the same location at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 12th.  Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Livonia, NY.

Richard E. Thurber – March 8, 2020

Conesus:  March 8, 2020 at age 96.  Dick was born on February 5, 1924 in Bradford, PA to the late Frederick and Lena Thurber.  He was predeceased by his loving wife Grace (Klossner) Thurber.  Survived by his brothers-in-law; Harold (Patricia) Klossner of Geneva, Roger (Sue) Klossner of DeWittville, Carl Klossner of Romulus; and sisters-in-law; Beverly Gardner of Berkshire, and Carol Ann Tyo of Shortsville.  Several nieces and nephews.

Dick was a resident of Conesus, NY for many years, was a retiree of R.C. Shaheen Paint Co., Rochester, NY and proudly served in the US Army Air Force during WWII.

Mary Minster ~ March 7, 2020

Hemlock: At age 79, Mary passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Highland Hospital in Rochester. She was born to James and Elizabeth Deemer in Rochester, NY. Mary is predeceased by her husband; Ronald Minster, her brother; Billy Zimmer and her friend, Daniel Parsons.  Survived by her children; Ronald Minster, Lisa (Keith) Larson, Eilene Ganshaw (Michael Fuoco), her grandchildren; Candace Robinson, Brandi Swift, Megan (Tom) Leavy, Kelsey (Cody) Stidfole, Kerstyn Ganshaw, and her 6 great grandchildren; Aubreigh Swift, Brayden Wixom – Ganshaw, Cole Swift, Declan Stidfole, Kinsley Stidfole and Remi Leavy, along with several nieces, nephews and sister-in-laws.

Sandra L. Potter “Sandy” – February 29, 2020

Livonia:  February 29, 2020 at age 58.  Predeceased by her father James Knight.  Survived by her children; Bobby Potter of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Paige Potter (Andrew Temperato) of Livonia; grandchildren, Leila, Braxton, Ashton, Riley, Nina, and Jaylen; her mother Connie Knight; siblings, Melinda (Michael) Hampton, Stephanie Knight, Cindy Knight, Steve Knight, and Rick Knight.  Also survived and loved by many other family and friends.

Sandy was born on April 27, 1961 in Decatur, Illinois to parents James and Carmen Knight.  She was very artistic and her interests included spirituality, nature, and the study of our universe.  She loved to spend time with her family, friends, and her beloved dogs Peechu and Bentley.

Ronald J. Osipovitch – February 28, 2020

Geneseo:  February 28, 2020 at age 78.  Predeceased by his son Michael Jon Osipovitch, parents Alexander and Ann Osipovitch, and his brothers, Alexander Osipovitch Jr. and Gerald Osipovitch.  Survived by his daughters, Christi Kelly (Pat Ross) of Greece and Debbi (Kenneth) Schmitt of Avon; sister Cheryl (Charles) Gordinier of Williamson; his loving soulmate Marylou Krywe of Geneseo; daughter-in-law Lisa Isler; grandchildren, Richard (Bridget) Rampello, Melissa Rampello, Matthew, Daniel, and Brandon Schmitt, Jonathan, Robert, and Taylor Osipovitch, and great-grandson Paxson Rampello.  Also survived by his aunt Alice Bakewicz, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many close friends.

Gerald R. Preston “Big Jerry” ~ February 22, 2020

Geneseo/Fowlerville: At age 76, Jerry, a beloved father, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at his home in Geneseo surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Batavia, NY to the late James R. and Esther Preston. Jerry was predeceased by his brother; James Preston. Survived by his children; Wendy Preston of Mt. Morris, Tammy (Philip) Schultz of Geneseo, Holly Preston of Avon and Jerry (Michelle) Preston of Retsof, his siblings; Diane (Ronald) Mason of Perry, Jack Preston (Pat Corcimiglia), along with 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Big Jerry was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, friend and dog lover with an outgoing personality who was always smiling.  He loved to laugh, was easy to talk to and he was always willing to help someone in need.  Jerry was a hard worker, but he liked to have fun too, he loved to play pool and enjoyed a refreshing Diet Pepsi at the bar.  Big Jerry will be greatly missed by all.

Thomas W. Gendreau ~ February 17, 2020

Honeoye, NY:  February 17, 2020 at age 63.  Predeceased by his father Bob (Elaine) Gendreau, his mother Chris Flora Kurtz, and his brother Bob Gendreau.  Survived by children; Gabriel (Molly) Gendreau of Strafford, NH and Chelsea Gendreau of Schoharie, NY; sister Louise Boyd of Honeoye, half-sister Sandy (Dan) Cook of Charlottesville, VA, and former spouse Sherry Gendreau of Livonia.  Also survived by many other loving family members, neighbors and friends in the Honeoye Community, and his dog Otis.

Tom was a very active community member, frequently donating his time to help others and make a difference. He was a longtime member of the Rotary club, serving as president of the club and camp director of Camp Honeoye. Tom spent several years as a local business owner, owning and operating TWG Machine, and was a member of the Chamber of Commerce. He was a motorcycle enthusiast, especially loving Harley-Davidson and Norton bikes. Friends and family appreciated his witty humor and loving heart.

Judith L. Davis – February 13, 2020

Livonia/Williamson:  Judy passed away on February 13, 2020 at age 78 years.  She was born in Chester, PA to the late Robert and Elizabeth Wright.  Predeceased by her husband Rev. George V. Davis Jr. and son David M. Davis.  Survived by her sons Robert (Tammy) Davis of Conesus and James (Peggy) Davis of Elizabeth, CO;  grandchildren Kendra (Dylan) Gibson, Rachel (Walker) Haynes, Stacee (Richard) Muolo, Haylee (Brandon) Reynolds, Chrissy (Doug) Nelson; 11 great grandchildren and predeceased by one more waiting for her in heaven; sister Penny (Calvin) Reuss and brother Robert (Geraldine) Wright; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Judy was an important part of Livonia Community Church, alongside her husband, for 26 years.  She loved everyone unconditionally and could light up a room with her beautiful laugh and smile.  She had a love for life and is now spending her days again with the love of her life.  Until we meet again our beautiful angel.

Manchester:  At age 64, Thomas passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 7, 2020, while camping in Canaseraga, NY, doing what he enjoyed most.  He was born in Kingston, NY to the late Donald and Mary Kelly.  Thomas is predeceased by his sister; Betty Rose Herting.  Survived by his beloved wife of 13 years; Christine Wells Kelly, his step-children; Michael (Tiffany) Wells, Michelle White, his grandchildren; Michael Wells, McKenna Wells, Maleah Wells, Wyatt Wells, Jacques – Anthony Cooper, Jon White, his sisters; Nancy (Dr. Robert) Bostrom, Donna (Alan) Wegman, Meghan (John) Lodge, and his brother-in-law; Ken Herting, along with several nieces and nephews.

Margaret M. Moran “Peg” ~ February 5, 2020

Livonia/Conesus Lake:  At age 87, Peg passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at Highland Hospital. Predeceased by her parents Thomas and Elizabeth Gill, her brother and sister Thomas Gill and Ruth Cartier, and grandson Casey Moran.  Survived by her sons, Tom (Kim), Shawn, Brian (Wendy), Pat (Melissa); grandchildren, Brenden, Shane, Katie (Balcerzak), Megan, Riley, Bailey, Haley, and Jameson, and 8 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Mary, Claire, Rita, and Patsy, along with many friends and fellow bingo players.

Nanna’s greatest joy was being with her family she was an amazing mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, as loyal as they come. It wasn’t uncommon for her to give a referee a hard time for a bad call against one of her boys at a football game.  Nanna loved sitting with her sister Patsy looking out the window at the ducks swimming on Conesus Lake.

Edward Geer Lewis “Ed” ~ February 4, 2020

Canandaigua: At age 70, Ed passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at the F.F. Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua, NY. He was born in Canandaigua, NY to the late Norman and Edith Lewis. Survived by his wife; Betsi Wahl/Lewis, and his siblings; Elizabeth Diefendorf, Allen (Laurie) Lewis and Donald Lewis, along with many nieces and nephews.

Raymond F. Blackmer – February 3, 2020

Richmond, NY:  Ray passed peacefully on February 3, 2020 at age 89.  Predeceased by his wife Jean (Allen) Blackmer in 2005.  Survived by sons; Carl (Kim) Blackmer and Tom Blackmer (Lisa Andreotta); grandson Makar Blackmer; great-grandchildren, Grace and Gavin Blackmer; siblings, Myron Blackmer, Max (Barbara) Blackmer, and Sandy (Ed) Gates.  Also survived by several cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Ray was born on June 16, 1930 in Canandaigua, NY to parents Charles and Esther (Francis) Blackmer.  He was a life-long resident of Richmond and graduated from Honeoye School in 1948.  He married Jean on August 25, 1951 and they celebrated 53 years of marriage before her passing.  Ray was an airplane pilot, instructor, and was a past member of the International Flying Farmers Association.  Besides his career in farming he was also a truck driver and bus driver.  Ray loved his family, the land, and John Deere tractors.

The family wishes to thank the aides and nurses at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, Memory Lane, for the care and compassion they showed Ray.

Shirley Ann Rutherford (Stubbe) “Grandma Ruffel” – January 25, 2020

Conesus Lake:  Shirley passed peacefully on January 25, 2020 at age 88.  Predeceased by her husband Richard E. Rutherford and brothers Jack, Ray, and Mal Stubbe.  Survived by her children; Ronald (Cheryl) Rutherford, Thomas (Jennifer) Rutherford, Donald (Diane) Rutherford, Susan (Michael) McManus, and Judy (Thomas) Keysa (Ruffel); sisters, Pat (Larry) Zimmer, JoAnn (Bill) Andraszek, and Diane DeMark; sister-in-law Joyce Stubbe; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.  Also survived by many other loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

John H. VanDerMeid Jr. “Jack” – January 22, 2020

 

Livonia:  Jack passed peacefully on January 22, 2020 at age 94.  Predeceased by his parents John H. Sr. “Bud” and Dorothy VanDerMeid and his brother Paul VanDerMeid.  Survived by his loving wife of 63 years Nancy (Price) VanDerMeid and children; Stephen (Deanna) VanDerMeid of Cooper City, FL and Karen Coleman of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren, Vanessa VanDerMeid, Erin VanDerMeid, and John Coleman; siblings, Thomas (Phoebe) VanDerMeid of Rochester and Doris Rahn of Brockport; sister-in-law Ginger VanDerMeid of Pittsford; several nieces, nephews, and many dear friends in the Livonia Community.

Jack was born on January 27, 1925 in Livonia, NY to parents John H. VanDerMeid Sr. and Dorothy (Humphrey) VanDerMeid.  He graduated from Livonia High School and joined the US Army in 1943 during WWII.  Jack proudly served in the D-Day invasion landing on Utah Beach in Normandy.  He served in the Infantry and was assigned to the 4th Division as a heavy machine gunner.  The 4th Division helped liberate France from the German forces.  Jack was honorably discharged in 1946 and received several WWII Medals.

After WWII, back in Livonia, NY Jack worked for Walter “Bus” Meyer Chevrolet and later as a Rural Mail Carrier for the United States Postal Service, from which he retired.  Jack was married to Nancy Anne (Price) VanDerMeid on June 16, 1956.  He was a 73 year member of the Harrison Lee American Legion Post 283, a recipient of the Livonia Senior Citizen of the Year, and received several veteran awards over the years.  He was a dedicated friend to the Union Cemetery in Livonia where he along with a group of veterans, boy scouts, and friends would mark every veterans grave with a flag on Memorial Day.  He was also well known to have his home and lawn looking perfect, he was often seen on his John Deere tractor, sometimes daily!

Joyce S. Walkley ~ January 22, 2020

Gasport/Conesus Lake: At nearly 92, Joyce passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at her home in Gasport, NY. She was born in Rochester, NY to the late Frank and Mary Sherwood. Joyce was predeceased by her husband; William Walkley, her step-mother; Dora Richardson and her sister; Phyllis Bow. Survived by her children; Robert (Sue) Walkley, Charlie (Christine) Walkley, Barbara (Clyde Messer) Walkley, Sally Dedicke, her grandchildren; Greg (Justina) Walkley, Janelle Walkley, Scott Walkley, Keri Walkley, Andy Walkley, Christopher Walkley, Alex Dedicke and her great grandchildren; Xavier, Averie, and Zachary.

Joyce enjoyed spending time at her home on Conesus Lake, whether taking a dip in the lake, entertaining her family and friends with a large meal including her 3rd of July parties, or just taking time to relax and soak in the sun.

Joyce enjoyed socializing with her friends, whether it was hosting a Bridge party or going to a Bridge competition, bowling with her league, walking around Geneseo with her sister or simply running into her friends at the grocery stores.  She lit up a room and always made people feel welcome.  “She danced around the world” to Big Band Music.

Joyce loved to help others; she was very instrumental in helping veterans with her position at the VA. A member of the Ladies Auxiliary with the Conlon Mulvaney American Legion in Conesus.  Amongst all of her passions, she mostly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.  She will be greatly missed.

A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 2PM at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home, 21 Big Tree Street in Livonia. Friends and family are invited to arrive at 1PM.  There will be a celebration gathering at the Conlon Mulvaney Legion Post, 6317 Marshall Road in Conesus.  Interment will take place at Arnold Cemetery in Conesus, NY in the Spring with a date and time to be announced at a later point.   In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution may be made to: Your local pet shelter. Eugene G. Struble “Gene” – January 22, 2020

Livonia/Geneseo:  At age 85, Gene passed peacefully on January 22, 2020 at Light Hill Comfort Care in Canandaigua, NY.  Gene was born on June 14, 1934 to the late Edwin and Josephine (Trahan) Struble.  Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Louis and Bernard Struble.  Survived by his wife of 29 years Donna (Marriott) Struble and children; Holly (John) Phillips, Linda (Geoff) Calderwood, David Struble, Daniel (Ramona) Struble, Jennifer (Thomas) Hayes; step children, Kelly (John Tallie) Youngblood, Shelly Winslow, Kevin (Diane) Youngblood, Sean (Katharine) Youngblood, and Shannon Youngblood; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Gene graduated with degrees from both Morrisville College and RIT and worked as an Automotive Engineer for General Motors. He enjoyed competitive shooting, hunting, camping, fishing, playing Euchre, tinkering with cars, RV traveling and spending time with his grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday, January 28th, at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 6591 Richmond Mills Road, Rte 20A, Livonia, NY.  After the mass a luncheon will be held in the community room, followed by burial at Canadice Hill Cemetery, Canadice, NY.  Memorial contributions may be made in Gene’s memory to Light Hill, 5160 Parrish Street Ext., Canandaigua, NY 14424. Marjorie C. Thomas (Crandle) ~ January 18, 2020

Livonia:  At age 94, Marjorie passed peacefully on January 18, 2020 at the Teresa House in Geneseo, NY.  She was born on April 13, 1925 to the late James and Hazel (McKee) Crandle.  Predeceased by her loving husband of 72 years Max E. Thomas, brothers; Gerald, LaRue, James, and Robert Crandle and sister Helen Ayers.  Survived by her children; Bonny (Cork) VanDerMeid of Livonia, Debbie (Ron) Baker of Fairport, and Larry (Sue) Thomas of Honeoye; grandchildren, J. Scott VanDerMeid (Dr. Shinji Sato), Brent Baker, Justin Baker (Dianna Wilson), great-granddaughter Alayna Baker,  Christopher Thomas, Michael (Alisha) Thomas, great-grandson Giovanni Thomas; sister Phyllis Arnold; sister-in-law Joannie Crandle; brother-in-law Alvin (Francis) Thomas; and several nieces & nephews.

Cynthia L. Klein (Noaker) – January 19, 2020

Penfield:  Cynthia L. Klein (Noaker) of Penfield, NY passed peacefully in her sleep on January 19, 2020, she was 63 years young.  Cindy was born in Canandaigua, NY and graduated Canandaigua Academy in 1975. She worked at Canandaigua Winery / Constellation Brands retiring after 42 years of service starting in the Cellar / Bottling room moving to forklift driver and ending her career in transportation.

She was predeceased by her mother Shirlee (Catlin – Cofield) Noaker, father Robert Noaker Sr. and brother James J. Cofield.  Survived by her husband of 24 years Andreas Klein; sisters, Susan Read of Honeoye, Kelly (Noaker) Wachs of Atlanta, GA; brothers, Dan A. Noaker and Kevin E. Noaker both of Penfield, and Robert Jr. (Tammy) Noaker of Gorham; and her “Sister from another Mother” Donna Temple of Farmington; neices, Christina M. Noaker of Farmington, Alison Wachs of Pheonix, AZ; and nephew Jesse Pitkin of Simpsonville, SC.

Cindy’s life was illuminated by beauty, driven by hard work, and filled with unconditional love for others.  If she saw an opportunity to help someone or simply to brighten their day, she made it happen.  It didn’t matter where she was or who you were to her, a friend, a stranger or even a stray animal lost and alone.

Cindy was a multi-talented person earning her the family nick name of “Martha Friggin Stewart” the only thing is she was ten times better than Martha.  Her cooking was beyond compare and she was always treating her family and friends with her marvelous cuisine. Her gardens were on a level of the Home and Garden caliber. She could fix a hem, sew a missing button or make you a whole suit.  But most of all her personality was like no other.  Her radiant beauty was unlike any other.  She warmed any room and made you feel safe and comfortable. Her memory will continue to comfort us all in the years to come.
