Richard E. Thurber – March 8, 2020

Conesus:  March 8, 2020 at age 96.  Dick was born on February 5, 1924 in Bradford, PA to the late Frederick and Lena Thurber.  He was predeceased by his loving wife Grace (Klossner) Thurber.  Survived by his brothers-in-law; Harold (Patricia) Klossner of Geneva, Roger (Sue) Klossner of DeWittville, Carl Klossner of Romulus; and sisters-in-law; Beverly Gardner of Berkshire, and Carol Ann Tyo of Shortsville.  Several nieces and nephews.

Dick was a resident of Conesus, NY for many years, was a retiree of R.C. Shaheen Paint Co., Rochester, NY and proudly served in the US Army Air Force during WWII.

A graveside service will be held at 11:30am on Saturday, March 14th, at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Rte 417 West, Bolivar, NY, with military honors.  As Dick was a lifetime member of the Springwater American Legion Post, 7998 School Street, Springwater, NY 14560,  memorial contributions may be directed there in his memory.  To send a condolence or share a memory please visit:  www.doughertyfuneralhomes.com

  1. I just saw that Richard passed. I am so sorry to hear this. He and my mother, Catherine Flaherty Gustafson, were very good friends since high school. Richard was a very special person.

  2. So sorry to hear! Dick was a wonderful person! A life member of our Post 905 in Springwater. I was able to spend the day with Dick last year at the Memorial Day parade in Waterloo.
