Martin L. Johnston “Marty” ~ March 7, 2019

Conesus:  Marty passed away, at age 74, on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at the Vincent House in Wayland.  He was born in Warsaw to the late Otis and Ruth Johnston.  Marty is survived by his wife of nearly 30 years, Sharon Nichols-Johnston, his daughter; Tracy (Michael) Powell of Bath, NY, his son; Mark (Rebecca) Johnston of Willow Spring, NC, his sister; Val Bradshaw of Mt. Morris, NY, his grandchildren; Kristy Powell, Michael D. Powell, Martin Johnston, and Emily Johnston.  Predeceased by his granddaughter, Hope Elizabeth Johnston, his siblings, Ivan Johnston, Robert Johnston, David Johnston, Kenneth Johnston, Patty Collister, Sheila Johnston, Collette McTarnaghan, June Mills, and his special nephew; Ricky Johnston.  Marty will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and his many nieces and nephews.

Marty is a military veteran who served his career in the Armed forces, and Army National Guard.  He served overseas in the Desert Storm Gulf War 1990-1991.  Marty retired and remained active in the community. He served on the Hemlock Fair Board of Directors for 25 years.

Friends and Family are invited to visit and share memories at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home in Livonia, NY, 21 Big Tree Street on Saturday, March 16, 2019 from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM with a Funeral Service to immediately follow.  Interment will take place at Lakeview Cemetery on David Gray Hill Road in Groveland following his funeral service in Livonia.  In Lieu of Flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Vincent House, 310 2nd Ave, Wayland, NY  14572.  To share a condolence or a memory please visit: doughertyfuneralhomes.com

  1. Marty ole buddy. We had some good times in work and play, from Larrys to when we scouted out your property to built the house, from Culver Rd to Saudi Arabia to Shop C. That classic Chevette. Our rides to work, the boat we bought. Missed you at Dads funeral. Wished I would have known I would have been there. We had some times. Sharon and family. Sorry for your loss, Marty was a good guy. Thought of him often.
