Ken will be missed by many people because he was such a kind and caring man to his family and friends. He always had a great sense of humor and had a large and loving heart. Ken worked at Harris RF communications for 36 years in the model shop. He was an avid hunter and fisherman since he was a child. He loved teaching his grand-kids how to hunt and fish. He loved taking Brianna hunting with him in his hunting shacks and teaching her how to shoot her bow and arrow. He loved taking Brianna and Natalee for rides on his tractor to mow the lawn, plow the garden or just for fun. Ken also enjoyed helping his neighbors especially on the farm and he loved going on hunting and fishing trips with his friends. Ken was a very easy going guy and will be missed greatly by many.

Canandaigua: Robert L. “Bob” Watson, 66, formerly of Honeoye, NY and Orlando, FL., passed away Sunday, October 2, 2011 at Thompson Hospital Continuing Care Center as a result of complications from diabetes.

He was predeceased by his mother, Mary E. Treble Watson of Honeoye; maternal grandparents, Arthur and Mary Edna Treble of Honeoye; paternal grandparents, Fred and Mary J. Watson of Lima, NY.

Livonia: Shirley Drain VanDerMeid, 85 years, of Livonia, NY died Thursday, September 1, 2011 at Conesus Lake Nursing Home in Livonia where she had been a resident the past six years. She was born June 12, 1926, in Canandaigua, NY the daughter of Carl and Mildred Coykendall Drain. A lifelong resident of Livonia, she graduated from Livonia High School and the former Genesee Hospital Nursing School in Rochester. She pursued her career as a Registered Nurse at the Genesee Hospital for several years. Shirley was married to her late Husband William R. VanDerMeid for 63 years prior to his passing in June, 2010. Her working career also included the cafeteria at Livonia Central School, a teacher aide at the school and also, serving as the registered nurse in the elementary school. She and Bill were both active members of the Livonia United Methodist Church where Shirley served as choir director for both the Junior and Senior choir for many years. She also was a member of the Livonia Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by her Son, James (Shirley) VanDerMeid of Wayland, and Daughter, Lynda Robinson of Livonia. Conesus: Jane Lawrence Mahoney, 75 years, of Cole Road, Conesus, NY died Wednesday morning, August 31, 2011 at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville, NY, where she was admitted the evening before. She was born in Brighton, NY, October 2, 1935 the daughter of Hollis Albert and Mildred Marilla Howitt Lawrence. She was a graduate of Brighton High School, who pursued further studies related to the insurance profession which evenually led to her ownership and operation of the J. M. Agency in Henrietta, NY.After selling her successfull agency, she would work along side her daughter at the former Sikorski Agency in Lakeville as a licensed broker. For a time, she was also employed by West Shurfine in Livonia.

A very disciplined, well motivated women with a high standard of work ethic, she was active in many professional organizations including the Professional Insurance Agents Society, Professional Womens Insurance Agents. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband on their motorcycles, and was a member of the Retread Motorcycle Organzation. She also was a proud member of the NRA. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time, with her husband, children, great grandchildren and great grandson.

He lived in Livonia for many years before moving to the Prattsburg area to be closer to family.

Livonia: August 26, 2011 at age 74 years. Survived by children; Cathy (Frank) Castellana of Austin, TX, Donald (Jackie) Stote of Greece, David (Ann Marie) Stote of Greece, Melinda (Brian) White of Livonia, and Michael Varner of Rochester. Brothers; Charles Lovett of Snow Camp, NC, and Buz (Patti) Lovett of Bergen. Grandchildren; Shannon, Neal, Rick, Bradley, Joey, Ian, Kirstie, Tamlinn, Donny, Alyssa, Libby, Davie, and two Great-Grandchildren; Lilly and Ricky. Also several Nieces & Nephews, and friends.

Dovie was born on August 16, 1937 in North Carolina to parents Dr. William Davis Lovett & Geneva (Clark) Lovett. She was employed for many years at General Motors – Delco in Rochester, NY. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Conesus Lake Nursing Home for their compassionate care and support over the past years.

Conesus: Richard J. French, Sr., 72 years, of Partridge Corners Road, Conesus, NY died unexpectedly, Thursday August 26, 2011 at home. He was born in Rochester NY, December 12, 1938 the the son of Frederick and Regina Gauss French. He was a graduate of Corpus Christi Grammar School and Charlotte High School both in Rochester. A retiree of Eastman Kodak Co., he also was a member of St. Matthews Church in Livonia. He was predeceased by his wife Patricia in 2000.

He is survived by his son, Richard J. (Gwenn) French, Jr. of Livonia; daughter, Patricia (Robert) Wonsey of Lima, NY. His grandchildren, Melissa French, Michael Wonsey, and Matthew French. 4 great-grandchildren, Devante, Steffan, Emma and Kylee. 1 brother and 2 sisters. Several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Sunday, August 28, 2011 from 5 – 8 PM at Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc. 21 Big Tree St., Routes 15 & 20A, Livonia. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, 10 AM at St. Matthews Church, Route 20A, Livonia, NY, with Rev. John H. Hayes officiating. Burial, G. Arnold Cemetery, Conesus.
