Shirley A. Sackett – September 26, 2018

Canadice: Passed away peacefully on September 26, 2018, at age 64, at her home in Canadice, NY. Shirley was born in Canandaigua, NY to the late Elizabeth Weigert. Shirley is survived by her beloved husband of 42 years, Kenneth W. Sackett, her devoted children; Chad (Crystal) Sackett & Kari Sackett (Jim Strassner), her cherished grandsons, Robbie & Aiden, and her adored siblings, June (John) McAllister, Betty Owens (Bob Saturno) and Tom (Eileen) Weigert, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Shirley’s first love was spending time with her grandsons, Robbie and Aiden. She loved to crochet, embroider, along with many other art and craft projects. Shirley was involved in Cub Scouts for 12 years, where she helped one scout to earn his “Eagle Award.” She was involved in Girl Scouts for 15 years, taking the girls to Disney in FL, Ohio, and many other camping trips. She enjoyed watching and collecting “Wizard of Oz” memorabilia.

A Gathering to Celebrate Shirley’s Life was held at the convenience of the family. Peter M. Bauer – September 20, 2018

Dansville: Peter was born on September 23, 1937 in Munich, Germany and passed peacefully on September 20, 2018 at Rochester General Hospital surrounded by his family. He was predeceased by his mother Maria, his father Ludwig, and his aunt Terry, who brought him to America as a teenager.

He is survived by his loving wife Dagmar; his daughter Diana (Rick) Williams of Livonia; grandchildren, Christopher (Nicole) Williams of Livonia, McKenzie (Robert) Mosko of Dansville, and Benjamin Williams (Jessie Sawers) of Livonia; great-grandchildren, Robbie and Mila Mosko & Avery and Jameson Williams. Also survived by his aunt Pepperl; cousins, Nick, Gail, and Sepp and their families; his step-sister Annelies (Helmut), brother-in-law Armin (Ulrike), sister-in-law Jutta (Klaus), sister-in-law Gerlinde and all their families, and his comrades from the US Army and members of the American Legion Posts in East Rockaway and Livonia. Pete proudly served our country in the US Army from 1955-1984 retiring as a 1st Sergeant with 28 years of service.

Nelson H. Powell Jr. – September 17, 2018

Conesus: Nelson crossed over peacefully on September 17, 2018 at age 73. Predeceased by his parents Nelson & Ruth Powell and sisters; Mary Lou Long, Ruth Wengewicz, and Joy Powell. Survived by his wife of 51 years Patricia (Kozuch) Powell and children; Dawn (Robert) Minemier of Brighton, Melissa (Mark) Clapp of TX, and Nelson H. (Emilia) Powell III of Penfield; grandchildren, Robert Staudinger, Maria & Lara Minemier and Connor & Iliana Powell; his sister Debra Rust-Powell; also survived by his Uncle Jack Reger, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, including friends of Bill W.

Nelson was a graduate of Buffalo Catholic schools. At age 15, he met the girl that would steal his heart in a case of mistaken identity when she showed up at his sisters to babysit “his kids”. Nelson ran his namesake construction company for many years before retiring to a short career in real estate. Nelson was an avid outdoorsman enjoying fishing, hunting, and just being with nature. Nelson proudly built the family home after many years on Conesus Lake. After the home was complete, Nelson had numerous gardens – ornamental and vegetable – as well as a house full of orchids. He was very proud of propagating his orchids from seed. If Papa was not in the house, he was in his gardens. Nelson was a man of great spirituality, which he generously shared for 44 years with so many friends of Bill W. This journey was one of the proudest accomplishments of his life, second only to Pat and their children. Nelson will be remembered by Pat and his children and grandchildren for his practical jokes, laughter, the twinkle in his eyes when he laughed, long discussions of faith accompanied by John Denver music, and love.

Conesus: Unexpectedly on September 14, 2018 at age 56. Predeceased by his parents William R. “Russ” & Shirley Ochsenhirt. Chris was born on August 31, 1962 in Corning, NY. He attended and graduated from Livonia High School in 1980 and then worked in the automotive business his entire career as a painter. Chris worked at Snyder’s Collision in Rush, NY for many years. He loved to hunt, fish, and take care of his lawn and garden. He always looked forward to his visits with Billy Monroe, his childhood friend, and also loved to spend time with his grandchildren.

David R. Clements “Randy” “Duran” – September 13, 2018

Livonia: Unexpectedly on September 13, 2018 at age 62. Predeceased by his parents David W. and Margaret “Peg” Clements. He is survived by his children; Matthew David Clements of NC and Kaleigh Clements (Josh Powell) of Wayland; his grandson Brody; and his siblings, Susan (Larry) Thomas of Honeoye, Tom (Laurie) Clements of Canadice, and Donna (Jim) Burkhardt of Honeoye. He is also survived by his nieces & nephews; Abigail Burkhardt, Christopher Thomas, Michael (Alisha) Thomas, and Emily (Zach) Fayette; many aunts, uncles, cousins, as well as his extended loving family of Livonia!

Randy was born on March 18, 1956 to parents Dave & Peg Clements. He attended and graduated from Livonia High School in 1974 and lived in Livonia all his life. Randy was an avid fisherman, golfer, and sports enthusiast. Known to many as “The Commish” he loved to organize and participate in many fantasy sports leagues. Randy was employed at AIM in Fishers, NY for many years. He will be missed by all that knew him and will be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor.

Joyce M. Wheeler ~ September 12, 2018

Canandaigua/Honeoye: Joyce Maxine Wheeler passed away September 12, 2018 at the age of 91 years. She is survived by her children, L. David Wheeler of Canandaigua, Douglas (Joni) Cusic of Jacksonville, FL. and Patricia E. Rathman of Jacksonville, FL. and cousins.

Born January 3, 1927, in Sheridan, Michigan, she was the daughter of Clifton and Mildred Maus, and her beloved stepmother Genova Maus. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Charles Cusic; and her husband L. Delmon Wheeler, whom she married in 1967. She and Del made their home in Honeoye; after he passed in 1996, she lived for several years at Eighty Parish Street Apartments in Canandaigua.

Joyce made a life of home, family and friends. She was a member of the New Hope Fellowship House Church in the Honeoye area.

Frank J. McGowan ~ September 11, 2018

Honeoye: Frank J. McGowan (Voice of the Bulldogs), passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 after a valiant battle with leukemia. Frank was holding hands with his high school sweetheart, the love of his life, his wife Mary and was surrounded by those he loved.

Frank was born in Brooklyn, New York on August 19, 1945 to John F. McGowan and Helen M. (Crowley) McGowan. He is predeceased by his parents, his brother John, his brothers-in-law Walter Mykins and Ronald Bryant, and his in-laws Charlie and Elsie Farrell.

Frank is survived by his best friend and wife for 57 years Mary E. (Farrell) McGowan; his children, Mark F. McGowan of Honeoye, Maureen M. John F. McClelland “Jack” ~ August 25, 2018

Nunda: August 25, 2018 at age 82. Predeceased by parents Catherine (LaBue) and John F. McClelland Sr, his wife, Jo Anna, sister, Dorothy, brothers; Dicky, Fred and Carl. Survived by his children, Jeff (Katie) McClelland of Conesus, Tracey (Timothy) Sweeting of Nunda, and Johnna (Karl) Schrier of Mt. Morris. 5 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, 5 brothers; Bob (Joyce) McClelland of FL, David (Joanne) McClelland of NM, Donald (Mary) McClelland of FL, Edward McClelland of FL, and James McClelland of NC. Nieces and nephews.

Jack grew up in the Conesus/Livonia area, and became and important part of the Championship football team in the early 50’s. After completing high school, he was given a Scholarship to Florida State University in Tallahassee to play football. Then he left Florida, and choose to go into the US Armed Forces as a Army Reservist until 1963.

Jack loved his family, and not just his immediate family. Anyone who was related in anyway became very important to him and he would visit them often just to say Hi. Going to see family was his way of relaxing and there was nothing that would stand his way to stop him from visiting one of them in hospital or going to their funeral.

Jack’s passion was in being a farmer. He always wanted to have his own farm, and was able to accomplish that dream in 1972 when he bought the farm in Nunda. To make ends meet, he was a Heavy Equipment Operator for the International Union of Operating Engineers. He also became a Realtor and owned and operated his own sawmill for many years. While in Nunda, he enjoyed being a member of the Kiwanis Club for many years.

Kathleen S. Mann “Kathy” – August 23, 2018

Livonia: August 23, 2018 at age 75 years. Survived by her daughter Suzanne Thayer (Steve Schwingel) of Livonia and grandchildren; Danyell Sullivan (Frank Orosz) of Livonia and Haley Natoli of NC. Also survived by several other loving family & friends.

Kathy was a selfless, caring person. She was kind, compassionate and oh so funny. At the same time she had no problem telling it like it was and made sure you always knew her opinion. That’s what so many loved about her! Her stories were hilarious and she’d always keep you laughing. She could make any day brighter, just by telling you not to sweat the small stuff!

Kathy was a natural caretaker all her life. She raised a wonderful daughter and helped with her two granddaughters in any way she could. She spent most of her career at Sonyea and Doty Day treatment centers and various county homes, ending her career in hospice care. She spent most of her later years relaxing at home, playing “the game” on her IPad and spending time with her daughter and granddaughters. She kept her small family busy, she was their ROCK and was the glue that held them together. Granny will be greatly missed; so much more than she could have ever known.

At Kathy’s request no funeral services will be held. The family will have a Celebration of her Life Gathering in the future. David L. Edmunds “Dave” – August 22, 2018

Fairport: Dave passed peacefully on August 22, 2018 at age 74 years. Predeceased by his wife Marlyne Coleman-Edmunds and his parents Raymond & Breta Edmunds. Survived by his children Michele (Bill) Booher of Groveland, Amy Edmunds of Pittsford, and Lorri (Bill) Cook of Brampton, Ontario Canada; grandchildren, Jason Booher, Alexa Booher, and Kristy Cook; siblings, John (Pat) Edmunds of Fairport, Rhea Clark of Belfast, and Norleen (Ron) Enders of Belfast. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Dave was born on May 31, 1944 in Cuba, NY to parents Raymond & Breta Edmunds. He graduated from Belfast High School and then served our country in the US Army from 1965-1967. After his time in the service he worked for RG&E in Rochester, NY where he was the Director of Cash Management. Dave was a graduate of Alfred State College and the Rochester Institute of Technology. He was a member of the Harrison-Lee American Legion Post #283, the Fairport VFW, he was a past member of the Fairport Volunteer Ambulance Service, and was also the treasurer of the RG&E Armed Forces Group. He enjoyed golfing, NY Yankees Baseball, bowling, reading, boating, and traveling. He always enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Dave was an easy going person unless it was a competitive game of euchre.

Martin M. Brennan “Marty” – August 20, 2018

Livonia: August 20, 2018 at age 86. Predeceased by his parents Harry & Helen Brennan and his infant grandson Martin Brennan. Survived by his wife of 39 years Bonnie (Allen) Brennan and children; Deanna (Ken) Frisbie, Kathy (Mike) Louden, Marty (Jackie) Brennan, Ron Brennan (Carole Cook), Deborah (Ralph) Miller, William (Carol) Wheeler, Clifford Wheeler, Warren (Deb) Wheeler, and JoAnn (Rick) Mantisi. Also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends in the Livonia Community.

Marty was born in Rochester NY where he lived until he was 9 years old. He then moved to live with family in Livonia. Marty Graduated from Livonia Central Schools in June of 1950 and was involved in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, baseball, basketball, and did Track and Field. He was in the band and also a member of the Civil Air Patrol. Marty was inducted into the order of DeMolay at the age of 18 (international organization formed by the Knights of Templar- role was protection of Christian Pilgrims).

Marty joined the Air Force in 1950 and served through 1954 during the Korean War. He has been a member of the American Legion Post 283 for more than 60 years and served many roles during those years including Commander and Treasurer. Marty had 4 Children and 5 step-children, 24 Grandchildren and 16 great- grandchildren which he loved spending time with. He was an avid bowler. He loved to collect, restore and resell Antique Automobiles and was a member of the Livingston Co. Antique Car Club. Marty loved to read and go to his grandkids sporting events. He served his community in retail and wholesale for the Livonia Dairy for more than 60 years.

Melaine R. Wilcox (Johnstone) – August 19, 2018

Lima/Livonia: August 19, 2018 at age 58. Predeceased by her parents Richard Johnstone & Margaret Backus and her brother William Johnstone. Survived by her husband Chris Wilcox, her son Jeremy Heisel of Lima, step-daughter Melissa (Steven) Monk of Vestal, and Lauren Krebbeks of Lima, who was like a daughter to Melanie; grandchildren, Gavin and MacKenzie Monk & Emma and Sean Krebbeks. Also survived by several other loving family and friends.

Melaine was born on September 20, 1959 in San Diego, CA to parents Richard & Margaret Johnstone. She loved to talk and spend time with friends and family. Melaine worked at Honeoye Falls-Lima Central School for many years until she retired in 2002. She loved bird watching especially her hummingbirds around the house.

At Melaine’s request no funeral services will be held. James Miller Halsted ~ August 19, 2018

Clinton/Livonia: James Miller Halsted, age 89, having spent his last days surrounded by his family, passed away Sunday, August 19th, 2018, at the Katherine Luther Home in Clinton, New York.

Jim was born in Brighton, NY on December 18th, 1928, to Floyd and Gertrude (Miller) Halsted. He graduated from Livonia Central School. Jim fell in love and married Carolyn Reed on December 18th, 1954, a union that would last 64 years and produce two wonderful daughters. On July 15th, 1954, he joined the United States Army and proudly served his country until he was honorably discharged on June 2nd, 1956. Jim retired as the Superintendent of Building and Grounds at the Livonia Central School in 1985.

After retiring, Jim and Carolyn relocated to Myrtle Beach for several years, where he spent time enjoying the beach and actively participating in the Lakewood community before returning to Upstate New York to be closer to family. Jim was an active member of the Conesus Methodist Church, the Conesus Volunteer Fire Department, and the Livonia Grange. He also had a love of music that he was always pleased to share with friends and strangers. Whether it be listening to his records and tapes, or an impromptu concert on the harmonica he always kept in his pocket, Jim took great pleasure in sharing this love with others.

Jim is survived by his wife Carolyn of 64 years. He is also survived by daughters Nancy Sommer (Sean) and Linda Winokur (Rob), seven grandchildren, Meghan, Shannon, and Matthew Perry, Emily and Jacob Winokur, and Matt and Abby Sommer, brother William Halsted (Donna), as well as his beloved brothers and sisters in law and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his older brother, Robert Halsted (Barbara).

A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at the Conesus United Church on Saturday, August 25th from 3 to 6 PM. We will begin with a short service, followed by visitation in the fellowship hall downstairs. The family invites anyone to stop in and share food, fellowship and memories of Jim. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Livonia Grange 1180, the Conesus United Church, or the Livonia CS music program.

Thomas P. Brown II “Tom” – August 18, 2018

Livonia: Tom passed peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on August 18, 2018 at age 60. Predeceased by his parents Thomas Sr. & Charlotte (Cooke) Brown and his nephew Greg Harrison. Survived by his loving wife, of 38 years, Linda Brown and sons; Matthew (Jani) Brown of Monterey, CA and Ian (Amanda) Brown of Fort Drum, NY; siblings, Kathy (Ogden) Price of OH, Debbie (Mark) Harrison of Rochester, and Joe (Danita) Brown of SC.

Tom loved life. He loved his family, his church, and his hobbies. His passions in life included riding his motorcycle, reading spy novels and boating with friends. The next marathon was never far away, the next concert was always on the calendar, but family vacations were always a priority. Whether it was home improvements or car repair he got the greatest satisfaction from doing it himself. He was never far from scouting or the golf course. He loved all things Army and Navy equally. Tom was an amazing husband, father, sibling and friend.
