Francis E. Fugle “Red” – May 13, 2016

RedFuglepic

South Livonia: Passed away May 13, 2016, at home surrounded by loving family members. Red was born on May 26, 1926 to parents Claude and Rena (Giltner) Fugle. Predeceased by his sons Steven and Ronald Fugle and son-in-law Harold Herring. Survived by his devoted wife of 73 years, Rosemary Fugle and their children; William (Leila) Fugle, Gloria Herring, Gail (James) White, Roger (Norma) Fugle, Gary (John) Fugle, Roxanne (John) Johnston, Kirk Fugle, Larry (Karin) Fugle, Christine (Anthony) Coniglio, Jean (Fred) Yates, Judith (Jack) Benedict, Jeffrey (Eileen) Fugle and daughters-in-law, Betty Sawdey and Tracey Fugle. Also survived by his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces & nephews.

Growing up, Red was always attracted to motor vehicles and boasted that by the time he was 14, he had owned 14 different cars or trucks. His love affair with automobiles turned into a career which began in high school when he worked at various service stations. A quick study, he became an expert in the field and in 1952 he opened Red’s Tydol Service in Springwater and in 1956 an Esso Station in Hemlock. In 1958 he relocated the business to South Livonia and began the transformation of the family farm to Fugle’s Inc., a leading family-owned-and-operated auto parts business.

Long-time friend and business colleague Bob McDonald, who previously owned Genesee Valley Garage in Geneseo, recalls Red as being collegial and down-to-earth. “Through the years, we worked closely together and helped each other out when we needed it,” McDonald remembered. Red was a hard-working guy. He started out with pretty much nothing and built a thriving business. It is a great success story.”

Red built his business on one driving principle — treating people the right way. “You treat people the way you want to be treated,” he would say. “It’s just doing the right thing.” Though proud of his business, Red would say his greatest achievement was his family. Today over 100 members count themselves fortunate enough to be a part of the Francis Fugle Family. He leaves behind a remarkable legacy and will be deeply missed by all.

At his request funeral services will be private. Interment at the convenience of the family at Oak Ridge Cemetery, South Livonia. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Livonia Ambulance, PO Box 8, Livonia, NY 14487. Arrangements entrusted to the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home Inc., Livonia-Honeoye. Jeanine grew up in Bloomfield, NY where she graduated in 1977 from Bloomfield Central School where she was a 3 sport athlete and excelled in art. She graduated from Ithaca College with a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education. She worked as an educator and very successful track, soccer, and basketball coach for the Bloomfield district for 35 years. She had a very positive influence on the hundreds of students she taught and coached loving every one of them. Her unique talent as a coach encouraged developing athletes in the respective sport while still ensuring each athlete had fun. As a former athlete noted “Coach Pestle makes running in circles fun.”

Jeanine had a love of photography and always had her camera ready. Whether it be a holiday, sporting event, vacations, nature scenes or pets, Jeanine captured the moment and then lovingly created memory books and calendars for family, friends, and athletes. Her artistic talent was also evident in any party with the perfect decorations making every gathering extra special and unique. She was a generous soul who was the life of the party. She always showed up with her megawatt smile sporting the latest fashion trend perfectly accessorized. Dessert was another trademark of hers and many of us have gained a few pounds due to her love of sharing her creations, especially her famous chocolate chip cookies.

Her many interests included regular poker games, softball, attending country music concerts, spending time with family, the Dallas Cowboys, hanging out with friends at her pool, reading a good book, visiting her family in the 1000 Islands, gardening, shopping, and arts and crafts.

Jeanine filled many roles during her life; coach, teacher, athlete, wife, sister, daughter, favorite Aunt and leader. Jeanine’s outgoing personality made you feel right at home the moment you met her. Her spirit will remain with everyone she knew. Heaven watch out, because you got a good one!!
