Geneseo: June 14, 2016 at age 90 years. Predeceased by his wife Kathryn McCallion Maxwell and siblings, Leo Maxwell and Rita Altonberg. Survived by children; John (Nancy) Maxwell, Don (Sylvia) Maxwell, and Ron (Valerie) Maxwell; siblings, Shirley Carney, Kate (Paul) Snyder, Theresa (Richard) Nenno, Dorothy Harness, William Maxwell, Veronica “Cookie” Eisenhart, and sister-in-law Lorraine Maxwell; grandchildren, Diana Maxwell, Andrea (Jason) Ross, Carlton Maxwell, Charles “CJ” (Abby) Maxwell, Kevin Maxwell, and great-grandchildren, Molly and Allison Maxwell. Also several niece & nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Bob was born on July 21, 1925 to Leo and Irene Broderick Maxwell. He grew up in Avon, NY where his parents owned a dry cleaner and tailor business. He was the oldest of the nine Maxwell children thus there was never a loss of excitement in the family household. In 1943, he began working on the McCallion farm and met the love of his life, Kay. Kay and Bob married on July 19, 1952 and eventually moved to the farm where he lived until just recently. He was employed by Avon Farm Equipment but eventually was hired as a parts expediter at Syracuse Supply in Henrietta, NY from which he retired in 1988. After retirement, he and Kay enjoyed numerous trips throughout the US and Canada with the Avon XYZ club to such places as Alaska, Las Vegas, and Branson. When not traveling he helped his sons on the farm mowing lawn, raking hay, and plowing fields. He also raised five energetic border collies to work on the farm and loved feeding his cats. In 2004, when Kay was diagnosed with cancer, he took up the chore of cooking, cleaning and caring for her until her death in August 2005. He has missed her dearly but has now joined her in heaven with his beloved pets.

Livonia/Greece: June 13, 2016 at age 47 years. Predeceased by his father Tom Hodges Sr. and brother Rick Bohrer. Survived by his wife Crystal Bohrer; step-sons, Carl Roach and Dominick Hey; his mother, Cheryl Hodges; siblings, Amy Anderson, Kelly Trader, Scott Bohrer, Todd Bohrer, Tom Hodges Jr., Julie McIntyre, and Bryan Hodges. Also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.

Mark loved playing and watching ice hockey, as well as football. He was a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Mark was an extremely funny person and he was honest, loving, and caring. He was very loyal and would do anything for anyone, drop what he was doing, and make sure others were helped when they needed it. Mark was an employee at Martec Industries in Rochester, NY.

Survived by children; Judy Long (Stephen Sellinger) of FL and Deni Long (Mark Lorenzen) of Rochester; daughter-in-law Dana Keefer of Watertown; grandchildren, Eric Long, Alex Long, Brenna Lorenzen, Luke (Kate) Lorenzen; great-grandchildren; Ella & Nathan Lorenzen. Many nieces & nephews, 1 exchange daughter, and 11 exchange grandchildren from around the world. Rachel was a member of the Eastern Star and was a long time member of the Lakeville UCC.

Rachel was born on December 21, 1927 in Livonia, NY to parents Willard and Ruth (Sharpsteen) Reed. Rachel attended Livonia Central School and later attended RIT and where she received her Associates Degree in Interior Design. Prior to being a partner with her husband Elwood in many business ventures she was a long time teller at the Security Trust Bank in Livonia. She was also the Secretary & Treasurer for the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery for many years.

She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and wonderful friend. Rachel loved her pets and gardening. Her joy of life and optimism was a gift she shared with her family and everyone she met. Rachel loved family and friends and was always quick with a joke and a smile.

She was born Jennie Macchirella and grew up in Mt. Morris as the youngest of 11 children.  Jennie was a devoted wife and mother and loved to cook, go fishing, dancing and spend winters in Florida. She worked at several local jobs over the years and had many dear friends including Gloria Regoni & Marilyn Seeley. Jennie was married for 55 yrs and was hardly ever seen without the love of her life, her husband John.  She was a long time member of St. Matthew Catholic church in Livonia.

Ronald E. Barrett of Honeoye passed away on May 26th at the age of 65. He was predeceased by his parents Ezra and Joyce Barrett.

Ron attended Ohio University where he played the tuba in the Ohio University Marching Band. He was a member of the United Church of Christ where he sang in the choir. Ron had many musical talents, he especially enjoyed playing the bass fiddle and singing in an ocapella group.

Ron is survived by his sisters Patti (Bil) Saxby, Mechele (Spencer) Shumway, Kim (Jim) Csabi, Kris (Greg) Deragon. Nieces and nephews, Andy (Cyrena), Austin and Kya Saxby. Spencer and Emma Csabi, Ethan and Josh Deragon, and many good friends.

Lima: Ralph Richard Golemb has gone to meet his Maker on June 4, 2016 at age 89 years. He was born on August 16, 1926 in Rochester, NY to parents Stephen E. Golemb & Pauline Anna Gavens.

Predeceased by his daughters Evelyn and Christine and his sister Norma. Survived by children; Kathleen (Carl) Gelatt, Pauline Golemb, Stephen (Diana) Golemb, and Jennifer (Tim) Stoltman. 15 grandchildren; Rebecca, John IV, Michele, Elizabeth, Emily, Stephanie, Laura, Brian, Benjamin, Zachary, Kyle, Shane, Ruth, Augustus, and Josiah, 14 great-grandchildren; Johnnie V, Kees, Micah, Lucas, Austin, Sayla, Juniper, Langston, Kenji, Quinton, Elijah, Frank, Simon, and Wyatt. Ralph served in the US Navy during WWII as a Hospital Corpsman, graduated for Palmer Chiropractic College in Davenport, Iowa, and continued post graduate studies at Lincoln College in Indianapolis and the University of Buffalo. Ralph established the Decorator’s Workshop in Lima, NY in 1959 and also served on the Lima Town Planning Board & the Zoning Board of Appeals.

Dansville/Florida: Nellie B. McLane died April 29, 2016 at Stuart Meyer Hospice Center, Flagler, Florida. She was born the daughter of Albert Welton and Frances Cartwright on December 28, 1921 in West Sparta. She was a retiree of the A&P grocery store working over 33 years as head cashier/bookkeeper. She is predeceased in death by her husband of 58 years Jerry; and sister, Ethel. Surviving sisters, Lillian, Alberta Burger of Groveland; many nieces and nephews.

Geneseo/Castile: May 26, 2016, peacefully at Morgan Estates, at age 101 years. Elizabeth was born on December 31, 1914 to Arthur and Olive Chasey of Castile, New York. Elizabeth was predeceased in 1972, by her brother, Robert, and is survived by her sister, Mary Ellen, of Claremont, CA.

Elizabeth’s parents were among the founders of, what is today, the United Church of Christ in Castile. Elizabeth remained a church member throughout her life. She graduated on academic scholarship, from Keuka College, and went forward to teach high school Latin and French, for ten years, in the Bloomfield School District. Elizabeth was an accomplished pianist, having begun formal lessons, at the age of three. Elizabeth’s love of music, and teaching personality were an integral part of her character.

Elizabeth married Robert G. Kingsley, Sr., World War II Veteran, in 1945, raised twins, Becky and Bobby, and Catherine. She and Robert started and sustained a thriving longtime auction and appraisal business in the Western New York area.

Elizabeth is predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert G. Kingsley, Sr., and beloved son, Robert G. Kingsley, Jr.

Elizabeth is survived by her loving family, daughters, Becky (Leonard) of Smyrna, GA and Catherine of Geneseo, NY; by her grandson Michael Kingsley Freedman of Atlanta/Tampa; her granddaughter, Jennifer Mielnik (Anthony), great grandsons, London and Lachlan of Parkland, FL, her grandson Bradley Kingsley (Karla), and great granddaughter Megan of SC; grandson Robert Kingsley (Kristin), great granddaughters, Corinne and Evelyn of SC.

Lakeville/Spring Hill, FL: Bruce E. Herman, 87, of Spring Hill, FL and Lakeville, N.Y. died on Feb. 10, 2016 at Bayfront Health Brooksville. Born on June 2, 1928, in Wellsville, N.Y., he was the son of August and Catherine Arnold Herman. On June 7, 1985, he married Betty Bennett Short, who survives.

Bruce was a 1946 graduate of Wellsville High School, a 1959 graduate of St. Bonaventure University and a 1974 graduate of the Harvard Advanced Management Program. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the occupation of Japan after World War II and serving again during the Korean Conflict with the 301st Logistical Command.

He was employed in various positions and locations with The Air Preheater Company and Combustion Engineering, Inc. from 1953 to 1983. After early retirement, he formed B H Associates, a consulting business that assisted middle market companies interested in acquisitions and/or divestitures. At the time of his death, he was Chairman of the Board and a Director of P-G Industries of Anniston, AL. Among other activities he served as a Director on several Boards and was a past Director of the J. Kyle Braid Leadership Foundation of Villa Grove, CO.

An active member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church of Geneseo, NY, he was project coordinator of construction of their new facility in 1997-1998 and served on many teams and committees, in recognition of his and his wife’s dedication to the building project, the congregation named the Fellowship room “Herman Hall”. He was a current associate member of Nativity Lutheran Church in Weeki Wachee, FL.

In addition to his wife survivors, include two sons, Daniel E. Herman of Detroit, MI and the Rev. Dr. John D. (Leslie) Herman of Greenbackville, VA; step-daughter, Diana (Mark) Sherwood of Lakeville, NY; four lovely granddaughters, Kristin Herman (Samuel) Langholz of Ankeny, IA, Catherine Herman (Scott) Hesh of Greenbackville, VA, Danielle Sherwood (Alex) Keogan of Buffalo, NY and Gabrielle Sherwood of Lakeville, NY; two grandsons, Javon Michael and Denauti Deshaun Herman of Detroit, MI; and three great-grandchildren, Andrew Robert and Adam John Langholz of Ankeny and Karla Joy Hesh of Greanbackville. Also surviving him is his sister, Joanne Herman Brandes of Wellsville, NY.

Bruce was predeceased by his parents; an infant son, David Bruce; his brother, James Herman; and his sister, Janet Herman Lang.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, June 2nd, at 11am at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 5015 Lakeville Road, Rte 20A, Geneseo, NY 14454. Mary Alexander Russ – May 19, 2016

Avon/Sun City West, AZ: Mary Alexander Russ, 90, of Avon, NY, formerly of Sun City West, AZ and Baldwinsville, NY, passed away peacefully at home on May 19, 2016. Born in Hornell, NY on May 16, 1926, she was the daughter of James M. and Ila A. Alexander.

Predeceased by her husband Edward F. Russ in December 2009, she is survived by her five children Erin, James, Elizabeth, Jeffrey and Patricia; twelve grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary was a 1944 graduate of Geneseo High School and attended SUNY Cortland before serving in the US Navy from 1951- 1954. She left the Navy to marry her “jewel” and went on to dedicate her life to raising her family. In her golden years she enjoyed traveling around the United States, as well as several places abroad.

There will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be held privately. Interment Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery. Nancy Linton (Neva Knickerbocker) – May 18, 2016

Groveland: Died on May 18, 2016 at home after a long courageous battle. She was a loving wife and mother and also was a graduate of Cornell University. She is predeceased by her husband Roger B. Linton; parents, Whitney and Gertrude (Welch) Knickerbocker; brother, J. Monroe Knickerbocker and his wife Hazel. Survived by her son Ray Linton; sister-in-law Mary Newlands and cherished nieces and nephews.

Dale R. Austin “Honker” – May 18, 2016

Honeoye: Peacefully at home on May 18, 2016 at age 71 years. Predeceased by his parents Russell and Lena (Hulbert) Austin. Survived by children; Michael Austin of Goshen, Lorie (Ronald) Ponko of Honeoye, and Christine (Anthony) Formicola of Marion; Grandchildren, Samantha Austin, Tasha (Shawn) Youngman, Michael Austin, and Tyler Ponko (Kara Egger); Great-grandchildren, Dallon, Xander, Aubreigh, and Cameron. Also survived by siblings; Charles (Sharon) Austin, Annalee Rowley, and Donna (Raymond) Edwards.

Dale served in the US Army from 1962-1965. Dale enjoyed spending time outside and retired from the heavy equipment operators Union in 2007. After retiring he enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids, fishing and hunting. He enjoyed spending time with his dog Clem they went every were together. He also enjoyed any challenge set in front of him he was very versed in many trades and just about figured out how to make anything work.

Friends may call on Saturday, May 28th, from 2-4pm at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home Inc., 8624 Main Street, Rte 20A, Honeoye, where services will immediately follow at 4pm, with military honors.
