Eleanor A. DeClerck “Ellie” (Weld) – June 14, 2015

elliedeclerck

Livonia: June 14, 2015 at age 92 years. Predeceased by her husband Remi “Ray” DeClerck in 1988. Grandsons: Nathan Sand and Joshua Price; siblings: her twin sister Catherine Dickson, Richard Weld, and Barbara Zwack. Nephews: Romy DeClerck, Gary Zwack, niece Beth Dickson, and son-in-law Paul Buckman. Survived by daughters: Sue (William) Sand of Lancaster, OH, Anne (Rodney) Clements of Livonia, and Becky (Lari Whiting) Price of Livonia. Grandchildren: Jason (Kris) Sand, Jeremiah (Emily) Sand, Michelle Litz, Aaron Clements, and Corbin Clements. Great-grandchildren: Alyssa Sand, Jacen Janes, Emma, Grace, Morgan, and Owen Clements. Sister-in-law Catherine Weld, several nieces & nephews, and many wonderful friends.

Ellie was born February 17, 1923 at Conesus Lake to Leon and Myrtle (Cole) Weld. She spent the first few weeks bundled and warming by the cook stove as she was the smaller twin. She and her siblings had an adventurous childhood at the lake with their loving Grandmother, Edith Cole.

She attended the one room school house on East Lake Road and graduated from Madison High school in Rochester.

The love of her life, Remi Robert DeClerck, asked her to marry him after a blind date and a short courtship. He came by one day and said, ” You had better put a hat on if we are getting married”. He was called to war very soon after. ( World War II)

During their marriage they built two houses from the bottom up and raised three strong girls! Ellie worked as a baker at Rush Henrietta schools as the girls got older. She fostered a true love of the outdoors by taking us for picnics in the woods and teaching us about the wildflowers . Her stories of tiny woodland creatures would have been fantastic children’s books.

Ellie was always active in the Methodist church and a very active member of the American Legion Ely -Fagan Auxiliary Post 1151.

In later years she thought of her children, in- law children, grands and great grands as her jewels. She loved her family and strived to be fair with them all. She listened to them and prayed without ceasing for them.

Her last years, when her health kept her in, her delight was to pack Operation Christmas Child boxes for children in poor, needy and war torn countries. She made countless washcloths for the boxes and organized the “Ladies” at Wild Briar apartments to pack over 20 boxes every year.

Truly a woman of great gifts and much love who cherished her family and her God.

scan1600101

Honeoye: May 8, 2015 at age 96 years. Predeceased by his parents Fred and Blanche (Warren) Storke, son Martin Storke, and sister Joyce Klossner. Survived by his wife of 35 years Mabel Storke. Children; David Storke of OR, Kay (David) Nolan of Honeoye Falls, Sue Storke of Bristol, Joanne Chittester (Bill Rude) of Honeoye Falls, Scott (Ismael) Storke of Honeoye Falls, Molly Storke of Brighton, Tim (Kim) Stanley of VA, and Chuck (Tina) Stanley of Macedon. Siblings; Ellen Gillette of Lima and Bruce (Marion) Storke of Hemlock. 12 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, many nieces & nephews. Newman was a Seabee serving in the US Navy during WWII and was a retiree of PINCO-Joslyn Manufacturing, Lima, NY.

Newman lived a rich & full life, and left us with so many memories. He was born & raised on a farm in Scottsville as the first child of Fred & Blanche Storke. One of his favorite pastimes was swimming & playing with his friends in the Genesee River which bordered their farm. The Genesee was clear in those days. He always managed to take a dip after each round in the field with the horses. When they changed to a tractor, he even managed to put that in the river too! When WW II broke out, he was drafted into the US Navy (the Seabees), and trained at Sampson Navel Yard on Seneca Lake where he taught swimming. After the service he worked at PINCO in Lima, staying for 34 years and retired as a maintenance foreman. He then worked as a carpenter with son Scott.

After retiring he and his wife went on to build their own home in the solitude above Honeoye Lake. The many interests he cultivated over the years included his big garden, fishing (especially in his own pond) and leisure drives. He especially enjoyed visits and card games with family & friends. One of his favorite events was meeting with other retirees at the PINCO lunches. Newman had a favorite momento -a 2″ plastic goat given to him by his granddaughter Becca. Although he kept a goat while he was growing up on the farm & kept a goat while his kids were growing up, he couldn’t commit the time necessary to keep a goat in later years. That goat even followed him into the nursing home.

Friends may call on Saturday, May 16th, from 3-5pm at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home Inc., 8624 Main Street, Rte 20A, Honeoye. A graveside service with Military Honors will be held at Sampson National Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
