Lakeville: May 4, 2015 at age 76 surrounded by his loving family and friends. Predeceased by his parents Francis & Anna (Palmer) Hawkins. Survived by his wife of 53 years Marianne (Szczesniak) Hawkins and children; Kathleen (Mark) Weegar of Geneseo, Mark (Michaelle) Hawkins of Livonia, and Karen (Ron) Warner of Lakeville. 5 grandchildren; Bryan, Sara, Hannah, Dana, and Leah. 5 step-grandchildren; Ryan, Kristina, Elyssa, Jessica, and Ron. Nieces & nephews, Aunt Rose Calway, and many other loving family and friends.
Steve was born on December 6, 1938 in Rochester, NY to parents Francis and Anna (Palmer) Hawkins. He served his country in the US Marines from 1958-1961. He married Marianne Szczesniak in 1962 over the years their family grew, they had 3 children and have spent 53 years of marriage together. Steve worked for Livingston County Department of Social Services for 26 years as a Senior Fraud Investigator. After retirement Steve was involved in many other activities. He always enjoyed good conversation and helping other people; he volunteered at the Center for Dispute Settlement and was a past Lakeville Fire Department Commissioner. Steve also worked at Kemp’s Bus Service and for First Student. He enjoyed being around and helping kids, especially those with special needs. One of his favorite things to do was fish and to be outside.
Friends may call on Thursday, May 7th, from 4-8pm at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home Inc., 21 Big Tree Street, Rte 15 & 20A, Livonia. Funeral Mass Friday, May 8th, at 10:30am at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 6591 Richmond Mills Rd., Rte 20A, Livonia. Burial St. Mary’s Cemetery, Geneseo, with Military Honors. I knew Steve for over 40 years. At one time we worked together at the Livingston County Dept. of Social Services. Steve was a wonderful man and a true friend. He would go out of way to do anything for you. My condolences to Marianne and his family.

Steve was one of our neighborhood “gang”. 5 of us. Classmate through Catholic grade school and high school. Sad we lost touch. So many memories. My condolences.

I remember many years ago when my brother and I went to see our sis Peg at her new place in Conesus…we had never been there before. We met “Hawk” and instantly took to him, he took my brother and I out and showed us a good time and really welcomed us. Have nothing but good memories of him. My condolences to the his and friends
