Victor, NY: Formerly of Honeoye, NY, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 19, 2011 at age 93 years. Springwater: Eric A. Van De Vliert, August 25, 2011 at age 47. Eric was born August 5, 1964 in Rochester, N.Y. to parents Albertus and Rika Van De Vliert. Eric graduated from Caledonia-Mumford Central High School. He served his country in the United States Air Force in Germany and Washington state. He worked as a Finish Carpenter most of his life, not only in New York, but also Colorado, Maine, South Dakota, and North Carolina. He settled in Springwater N.Y. near Hemlock Lake. Eric was fun-loving and big-hearted, he’ll be sorely missed, for he departed his loved ones too soon. Livonia: Shirley Drain VanDerMeid, 85 years, of Livonia, NY died Thursday, September 1, 2011 at Conesus Lake Nursing Home in Livonia where she had been a resident the past six years. She was born June 12, 1926, in Canandaigua, NY the daughter of Carl and Mildred Coykendall Drain. A lifelong resident of Livonia, she graduated from Livonia High School and the former Genesee Hospital Nursing School in Rochester. She pursued her career as a Registered Nurse at the Genesee Hospital for several years. Shirley was married to her late Husband William R. VanDerMeid for 63 years prior to his passing in June, 2010. Her working career also included the cafeteria at Livonia Central School, a teacher aide at the school and also, serving as the registered nurse in the elementary school. She and Bill were both active members of the Livonia United Methodist Church where Shirley served as choir director for both the Junior and Senior choir for many years. She also was a member of the Livonia Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by her Son, James (Shirley) VanDerMeid of Wayland, and Daughter, Lynda Robinson of Livonia. Conesus: Jane Lawrence Mahoney, 75 years, of Cole Road, Conesus, NY died Wednesday morning, August 31, 2011 at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville, NY, where she was admitted the evening before. She was born in Brighton, NY, October 2, 1935 the daughter of Hollis Albert and Mildred Marilla Howitt Lawrence. She was a graduate of Brighton High School, who pursued further studies related to the insurance profession which evenually led to her ownership and operation of the J. M. Agency in Henrietta, NY.After selling her successfull agency, she would work along side her daughter at the former Sikorski Agency in Lakeville as a licensed broker. For a time, she was also employed by West Shurfine in Livonia.

A very disciplined, well motivated women with a high standard of work ethic, she was active in many professional organizations including the Professional Insurance Agents Society, Professional Womens Insurance Agents. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband on their motorcycles, and was a member of the Retread Motorcycle Organzation. She also was a proud member of the NRA. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time, with her husband, children, great grandchildren and great grandson.

He married his best friend and love of his life, Heidi, on April 23, 1977. Gary and Heidi enjoyed the outdoors, camping, riding their ATV’s, and spending time together. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed his hunting trips all over the country. Gary fought a battle with cancer for the last four years. He was strong to the end and passed at his home surrounded by his family. He loved his family, children, and grandchildren. Gary too was the love of Heidi’s life and will be greatly missed.

Livonia: Robert J. Krest, 80 years, of Wildbriar Dr. Livonia, NY died late Thursday evening, August 18, 2011 at Highland Hospital in Rochester, NY. He was born in Rochester, NY August 11, 1931 the son of Nicholas and Eleanor Herington Krest. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean War, being awarded several citations including 2 Purple Hearts. A life long resident of Livonia, he graduated from Livonia High School, and was a member of the Livonia VFW Post and the Harrison-Lee American Legion Post #283. Prior to his retirement in June, 1986 he was employed by DELCO in Rochester, where his career spanned 30 years.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Jack, Gary, and Nick Krest, Jr. Also his sisters, Bonnie Riddle and Grace Ruppert.

She also served as an ombudsman at Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, where she successfully advocated for an area to be devoted to hospice patients. Donna personally sponsored a hospice room in the facility in memory of her mother which is called “Audrey’s Room”. She authored her own book “To Love Life and Government–not politics”. Donna held positions at radio station YSL, wrote a column for the Clarion Newspaper, and worked for the US Postal Service at the Conesus Post Office. She was very proud to have been a part of the site selection process for the new current County Skilled Nursing Facility in Mt. Morris, which was completed in 2005.

Livonia: August 11, 2011 at age 58 years at his home. Predeceased by his father Dominick A. Carbone Sr. and brother Leo L. Carbone. Survived by his wife of 17 years Kathaleen “Katie” Carbone and daughters: Andrea Carbone, Jennifer (Ken) Jackson of Canisteo, and Tia Carbone (Nick Hollier) of Waterloo. Grandchildren: David, Schuylar, Alexis, and Trysten. Also survived by his mother Evelyn Carbone, brothers Joseph (Karen) Carbone, sister Cynthia (Marty) Kelleher, and brother Nickalus Carbone all of Hornell. Many Aunts & Uncles, Nieces & Nephews, Cousins, in-laws, and friends. Special thanks to “Saint Maggie” and all family and friends for their help, compassion, and love.

Tony Carbone was born November 20th 1952, in Hornell, New York, to Dominick and Evelyn Carbone. Tony graduated from Hornell High School in 1971. After High School he began a career as a mechanic, and shortly became a father to his first daughter Jennifer, now 38. Twelve years later he became a father to his second daughter Tia, now 26. In 1992 he met Katie, and were married on December 17, 1993. Two years later Tonys third daughter was born, Andrea now 15. Tony was an uncle to many and a grandfather of four. Tony enjoyed swimming in his pool, taking vacations to different beaches, riding his tractor, and spending time with his family. In july of 2010 he was diagnosed with cancer. Over the past year he fought a long battle while enjoying his time at home with friends and family. On August 11th 2011 at home surrounded by family his battle came to a end.
