Helene B. Beuler ~ February 28, 2022

Conesus Lake: At age 94, Helene passed away peacefully on Monday, February 28, 2022 at her home in St. Petersburg, FL. She was born in Buffalo, NY to the late August and Mary Guppenberger. Helene is predeceased by her beloved husband; John R. Beuler, along with her son Thomas Beuler, her great grand-daughter, Mary Grace and her siblings; Francis (Carol) Guppenberger, Mary (John) Yunker, Rev. August Guppenberger, and Joseph Guppenberger. Survived by her children; Robert (Colleen) Beuler, Barbara (Lawrence) Ashcroft, Eileen Beuler, her daughter-in-law; Carolyn Beuler, her siblings; James Guppenberger, Lois (John) Gringer, Barbara Guppenberger, her 12 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.

Brenda J. Seward ~ February 18, 2022

Bloomfield: At age 65, Brenda passed away on Monday, February 18, 2022 at her home in Bloomfield. She was born in Pontiac, MI to the late Edward and Betty Seward. Martha J. Gorton “Martie” ~ February 27, 2022

Groveland:  At age 69, Martie passed peacefully on February 27, 2022 at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville, NY.  She was born on September 6, 1952 in Rochester, NY to the late Milo and Martha (Wright) Turner.  Survived by her husband of 42 years, Leigh Gorton and children; Ben Gorton of Rochester, Tracy Kingsley of Victor, and Kevin (Timaris) Gorton of Perry; grandchildren, Jessica, Adara, Oran, Nadia, Liam, Isaiah, Eliana, Zechariah, Annaliese, Alleyne, Matthia, and Malachi; siblings, Milo Turner of Livonia and Alice Trippi of Seneca Falls; also survived by several nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.

Martie will be missed by so many that she has touched. From the fellowship at Grace and Truth Church, where she was an active member, to the children she drove to school. She was always doing for others with no hesitation and was a staple in her church, community and family. In her precious spare time she loved to quilt, travel to local historic sites with her husband and dogs, often while geocaching, and spend time with her grandchildren. She was the thread of the family and nothing was more important than bringing everyone together. Praise the Lord for taking her home.

Teresa B. Gaesser – Bradley ~ February 22, 2022

Henrietta: At age 81, Teresa passed away on peacefully on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at her home in Henrietta, NY. She was born in Rochester, NY to the late Robert and Lois King. Teresa is predeceased by her beloved husband Henry J. Gaesser.  Survived by her children; Hank (Colleen) Gaesser, Kim (Doug) Alves, Lisa (Ed) Maio, and her grandchildren; Dana, Chad, Shaunna, Shane, Eddie, and Danielle, along with her great grandchildren; Allie, Callan, Alivia, and Eliana.

Peter E.J. Nilsson Esq. ~ February 22, 2022

Hemlock: At age 81, Peter passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at his home in Hemlock. He was born in Staten Island, NY to the late Edward and Gwendolyn Nilsson. Peter is predeceased by his son; Christos Nilsson and his sister; Bonnie Donnelly. Survived by his beloved wife of 60 years; Joni Nilsson, his siblings; Carolyn Nilsson, Joseph (Marrial) Nilsson, Mark (Pam) Nilsson, his 19 children, his 35 grandchildren and great grandchildren beyond measure.

Peter and Joni also opened their home to hundreds of foster children over their 45-year career as foster parents. Peter was truly a Renaissance Man. He loved to garden, practice photography and carpentry, teach and discuss politics, travel, and write beautiful memoirs. He also reveled in sharing his life experiences with his grandchildren, telling stories and passing on his wisdom.

Peter maintained several positions servicing communities that he loved. He chaired the UCC Board of Homeland Ministries, the ARC Board of Directors, and the Town of Livonia Zoning Board. He has remained active with Honeoye UCC.

Throughout his life, Peter has been able to grab joy in every moment. His rumbling laugh would often shake the dinner table as he sat surrounded by his family, telling one dreadful pun after another. Our eye-rolls where his reward.

When not otherwise engaged, Peter attended every possible soccer game in which his children and grandchildren played. Eventually he learned to be nice to the refs. Peter also managed to stay to the magical end of the “Great Comeback” of the 1992 season. Go Bills!

William Daniel Wetherwax “Bill” ~ February 21, 2022

 

South Lima: Bill, age 85, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 21, 2022 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY.  He was born on October 13, 1936 in West Carthage, NY to the late Earl and Helen Wetherwax. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his daughters, Erin Wetherwax, Susan Gearhart, and brothers, Ricky and Donald. Survived by his wife of 50 years, Carol (Stephens) Wetherwax and children; Earl “Duke” Wetherwax, Sherri (Victor) Penaloza, Lisa (Gary “Ali” ) Jamison, and Daniel Wetherwax. He is also survived by his brother Bob (Merle) , and  14 grandchildren, Roger, Carli, Cade, Jessica (Jesse), Juan, Shirley (Aaron), Tyson (Cheryl), Miranda, Kendra, Nakita, Jericho, Jesse, Warren & Natalie. Also survived by many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Bill was a roofer by trade working up and down on the East Coast, until finding Kodak where he worked the next 25 years, retiring at the young age of 55. With so much energy and life left he spent the next 13 years mowing lawns at Old Hickory Golf Course. Bill touched many lives as the President of the Conesus Lake Sportsmen’s Club for a span of FIFTY years where he wore many hats, from Janitor to Cook to representing the club for the Livingston County Federation.

Maryellen Souder ~ February 20, 2022

Honeoye:  At age 67, Maryellen passed on February 20, 2022 at FF Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua, NY.  She was predeceased by her parents Carlton Simmons and Frances Simmons Mattison, husband Joseph Souder, and brother George Simmons.  Maryellen is survived by sons, Keith (Jennifer) Green of Canandaigua, Kyle (Yuridia) Green of North Carolina, and Klint (Kate) Green of North Carolina, 8 grandchildren; sisters Priscilla Tange, Jane (Kevin) Carpenter, Vera (Harvey) Hughes; brothers Dean (Linda) Simmons, Willie (Sandi) Simmons, Adam (Janet) Mattison; companion Tom Clement of Honeoye, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.

Maryellen graduated from Canandaigua Academy in 1972 and attended Finger Lakes Community College where she obtained her certification in Massage Therapy. Maryellen loved her work as a massage therapist and ended her career at F.F. Thompson Hospital, where she worked in the Continuing Care Center. She enjoyed the outdoors, taking walks in nature, watching wildlife at camp with Tom and most of all traveling to see her grandchildren, who lovingly called her Granny.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11am on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at Evergreen Cemetery, County Rd 2, Bristol.  Following the burial, a gathering in honor of Maryellen will be held at King’s Catering, Canandaigua . Doris L. Lozier (Gagne) ~ February 17, 2022

Lakeville, NY/Brownville Junction, Maine:  At age 90, Doris passed peacefully at home on February 17, 2022.  She was born on May 9, 1931 in Biddeford, Maine to the late Origene and Irene (St. Onge) Gagne.  In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband Allen Lozier and her brother Raymond Gagne.

Survived by her son Louis (Kathi) Lozier of Lakeville and grandchildren:  Lore Lozier (Justin Rejman), Maranda Lozier (Bryan Skinner), Keefe Lozier (Gabrielle Bell), Jaimi (Gideon) Bratcher, Kara Ferner (Tim Ochs), and Candi Holbert (Craig Robinson); brother Rene Gagne; nieces and nephews, Michael (Safa) Gagne, Karen (Gary) O’Berg, David Gagne (Lisa Nieves), Janice (Richard) Lessard, and Susan (Alex) Millett.  Also survived by several great-grandchildren and great nieces & nephews.

Doris and Allen were the proprietors of The Shady Rest Tourist Inn, and among others, hosted hunters that became longtime friends. Doris enjoyed weekly card games with her close friends. She enjoyed swimming in Schoodic Lake, and going for walks with her dogs. Doris cherished the annual visits from her grandchildren. Also, a favorite pastime was the trips to the casino with her brother.

Ruth E. Traynor (Laida) – February 15, 2022

 

Geneseo:  At age 100 years Ruth passed peacefully on February 15, 2022 at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville, NY.  She was born on March 16, 1921 in Skaneateles, NY to the late John and Susan (Wedarena) Laida.  In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband James Traynor, daughter Dianne Whitacre, grandson David Hanna, and siblings:  Ann McArdell, Helen Cook, Mildred Timko, and John Laida.  Survived by her daughter Donna (Alfred “Tim”) Cole Jr. of Avon; grandchildren, Daniel Hanna, James “Jaimie” (Audrey) Cole, and Jennifer (Daniel) Korpanty; 4 great-grandchildren; son-in-law Steve Whitacre, and many nieces & nephews.

Ruth was the fifth child of John D. and Susan Laida, and entered this world on March 16, 1921 in Skaneateles, NY where she graduated from high school.  She then studied for a short while at Geneseo State Normal (what is now SUNY Geneseo) and resided in the Geneseo area for nearly all of her life.  Ruth was an avid reader and an accomplished seamstress and quilter.  She loved to play Scrabble, cards, especially the game of bridge, and even played a little gin with her devoted care givers until recently.  She also spent several years working with ceramics, and crafts.  Her greatest joy was her family, and her presence in their lives will be sorely missed.

Mt. Morris: At age 80, Rebecca passed away on Monday, February 14, 2022 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY. She was born in Warsaw, NY to the late Howard and Iola Eddy. Survived by her daughter; Lisa (Kevin) Miskell, her grandchildren; Patrick Miskell, Meghann Miskell, Bridget (Edward) Szozda, and her brother; Ronald (Laura) Eddy, along with her nephew; Scott (Deborah) Eddy and her niece; Mary (Paul) Clough.

Audrey W. Marshall ~ February 13, 2022

Bloomfield: At age 89, Audrey passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 13, 2022.  Audrey is predeceased by her beloved husband of 68 years; Lewis “Bill” Marshall and her grandchildren; Ryan Marshall and Jennifer Hubble Marshall. Survived by her children; Dana (Donna) Marshall, Debbie (Danny) Shaw, Daryl (Ide) Marshall and Dawn (Kevin) Hass., her grandchildren; Kurt (Sharon), Katie (Chad), Meghan (Nick), Matt, Christina (Allen), Kari, Sean, George, Shannon (Joe), Keith, and Samantha, along with her 17 great grandchildren.

Audrey was born in Allen’s Hill on October 29, 1932 to the late George Wright and Thelma Belcher Wright. Her family moved to Honeoye Falls, then back to Allen’s Hill, where her family had the Allen’s Hill General Store in the front of their home. Audrey attended a one room schoolhouse in Allen’s Hill, then went to Honeoye Central School where she graduated.

Audrey went on to work for Star Headlight in Honeoye Falls for a few years. In February of 1954, she married Bill, the love of her life. They settled on Allen’s Hill where they raised their family of 4 children. Audrey also worked as the Cafeteria Manager at Honeoye Central School. She enjoyed celebrating and making the holidays special for all the students and facility. Audrey retired from the school cafeteria in 1995. She worked as a cook at a Girl Scout Camp and was affectionately known as “Sparky” by everyone there. After she was done working at the camp, she enjoyed the time with her family even more.

Audrey loved making holidays very special for both her immediate and extended family of relatives and friends. She enjoyed playing bingo, baking, cooking, and playing cards. Most of all she loved her family and spending time with them all.

Irene B. Riley – February 12, 2022

Livonia:  At age 82, Irene passed peacefully on February 12, 2022 at the Teresa House in Geneseo, NY.  She was born on September 30, 1939 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Borger and Mildred (Urgalis) Borgersen.  In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her brother Robert Borgersen.  Survived by her husband of 53 years, Donald Riley and children; Clifton Woodford of FL, Terri (Fredi) Bauert of NC, Laurie (Bruce Cauder) Woodford of OK, and Donna (Doug) Sheesley of Greece; 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Irene graduated from Schodack High School in 1957 and furthered her education with her nursing degree.  She was a registered nurse at St. John’s Home in Rochester, NY for many years.  Family and friends were always very important to Irene.

Edward J. Harrington ~ February 7, 2022

Lakeville/Rochester:  At age 80, Ed passed peacefully on February 7, 2022 at his Conesus Lake home, with his family by his side.  He was born on March 14, 1941 in Dansville, NY to the late William Sr. and Cecelia (Thielges) Harrington.  In addition to his parents he was predeceased by siblings; William Harrington Jr., Patricia Genung, and Gary Harrington.  Survived by his wife of 56 years, Karen (Gold) Harrington; son Brian (Shirley Ann) Harrington of Brighton; and granddaughter Meghan Grace Harrington; siblings, Rita Partridge and Cliff (Scharon) Harrington;  also survived by several nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Edward attended New York State School for the Blind where he was the section V champion wrestler as a freshman. Ed went on to receive a bachelors degree from Cortland State. Ed enjoyed working with wood building lamps, tables, speaker cabinets, and toys for his granddaughter including a large swing. Ed worked as a Social Worker for 25 years at the Rochester Psychiatric Center (RPC). Ed involved his family in great times camping on 20 acres in West Sparta, great meals on Rosemount, and fun times on Conesus Lake.

Jeromy J. Bell ~ February 4, 2022

Honeoye: At age 39, Jeromy passed away suddenly on Friday, February 4, 2022 in Rochester, NY. He was born in Canandaigua, NY. Jeromy is survived by his parents; Murray G. Bell Sr., and Christine (Jerry) Ketchum, his brothers; Murray G. Bell Jr., (Shawna King), Jerry Ketchum Jr., and his sister; Julie (Erik) Carvotta, along with several nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins.  Jeromy is predeceased by his sister Heather, all of his grandparents and his cousin; Jessica Carroll.

Although Jeromy’s life was short, he touched many with his big heart.  He loved the outdoors and spending time with his family.

Nancy B. Rider (Briggs) – February 1, 2022

Livonia:  At age 81, Nancy passed on February 1, 2022 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY.  She was born on March 29, 1940 in Warsaw, NY to the late Raymond and Katharyn (Walker) Briggs.  In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her first husband Douglas Welch and her brother John Briggs.  Survived by her husband, Christopher Rider; her daughter Sarah (Thomas) Lauder of Plantation, FL; and granddaughters, Katharyn and Madilene Lauder.  Nancy is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Having earned an undergraduate degree at Wilson College and her master’s degree from Alfred University, Nancy’s career spanned 35 years teaching math at Honeoye Central School.  Nancy was quick to volunteer her time and resources to those in need whether giving her time to hospice patients at Teresa House, serving in various capacities at St. Michael’s Church in Geneseo or coming to the aid of family, friends or critters. Wherever she saw the need, she gave generously.  Throughout her life, she was an enthusiastic lover of the outdoors and of all of its plants and creatures.  Her devotion to animals was well recognized from nurturing ill or orphaned wildlife as a rehabilitator or simply taking in another stray cat.

Nancy will be remembered for her quick witted, often whimsical sense of humor, brilliant smile and “gift of gab”. Her zeal for life was infectious and she lived her life in her “uniquely Nancy” way.  We are grateful for the many unforgettable ways that her life touched and joined ours.
