Edward J. Harrington ~ February 7, 2022

Lakeville/Rochester:  At age 80, Ed passed peacefully on February 7, 2022 at his Conesus Lake home, with his family by his side.  He was born on March 14, 1941 in Dansville, NY to the late William Sr. and Cecelia (Thielges) Harrington.  In addition to his parents he was predeceased by siblings; William Harrington Jr., Patricia Genung, and Gary Harrington.  Survived by his wife of 56 years, Karen (Gold) Harrington; son Brian (Shirley Ann) Harrington of Brighton; and granddaughter Meghan Grace Harrington; siblings, Rita Partridge and Cliff (Scharon) Harrington;  also survived by several nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Edward attended New York State School for the Blind where he was the section V champion wrestler as a freshman. Ed went on to receive a bachelors degree from Cortland State. Ed enjoyed working with wood building lamps, tables, speaker cabinets, and toys for his granddaughter including a large swing. Ed worked as a Social Worker for 25 years at the Rochester Psychiatric Center (RPC). Ed involved his family in great times camping on 20 acres in West Sparta, great meals on Rosemount, and fun times on Conesus Lake.

Family and friends may call on Monday, February 14th, from 5-7pm at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home Inc., 21 Big Tree Street, Rte 20A, Livonia, NY.  Ed’s Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, February 15th, at St. Agnes Church, 96 Prospect Street, Avon, NY.  Burial to follow at St. Rose Cemetery, Lima.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Agnes School, 60 Park Place, Avon, NY 14414 or to the Livonia Ambulance, PO Box 8, Livonia, NY 14487.  To send a condolence or share a memory please visit:  www.doughertyfuneralhomes.com

    I am so sorry to read of Ed’s death. My sincere condolences to you and Brian. Ed was a great guy and god conversationalist. Enjoyed visiting with you both at the lake. My prayers are with you and the family.
