Diane M. Dillon ~ July 29, 2019

Diane M. (Harris) Dillon passed peacefully surrounded by her family at home on July 29, 2019. She was predeceased by her father, John B. Harris of Groveland, her mother, Ann M. (Gregorius) Harris of Dansville and a sister, Darla Kay (Harris) Ortiz of California.

Surviving are her children Diane Lynn Forrester “Lynn” (Brian Currier) of Dansville, Ronald J. (Joanne) Forrester of Piffard, and Jason J. Forrester of Dansville and grandchildren Zachary J. Forrester, Hannah Jayne Forrester and Hunter J. Forrester. She is also survived by sisters Donna Harris of Monroe, CT and Jill Harris of Livonia and brothers Jim Harris of Geneseo and Jerry Harris of Groveland. Also, nieces Katherine (Arnoud) Moes of Rockville, MD and Margaret Johnson of Monroe, CT along with cousins Nancy Herring of Scottsburg and Robert Harris of Canandaigua.

Diane was born in Dansville to John and Ann (Gregorius) Harris on October 1, 1950 and graduated from Dansville Central Schools in 1968. Diane began her career working for the State of New York at Craig Developmental Center in Sonyea, NY in 1968 and retired from this career as a Community Residence Director of the Livonia Center house in 2005. After retirement she worked as a Home Health Aide which kept her busy and active while caring for others which was her “gift”.

Diane enjoyed working in her gardens tending to her flowers, counted cross stitch, and any other crafts that may catch her interest. Diane is known for her cooking and her soups were the best ever, in her words “it is all about the broth.” Her greatest joy was her family! Nothing was better than a cookout or a meal at her home surrounded by her kids and grandkids. They will share many memories of good times and funny things that happened when they were trying to help her cook!

Diane was a very loving and caring, mother, sister and friend and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Marilyn J. Hilimire ~ July 16, 2019

Fort Meyers, FL/Livonia:  July 16, 2019 at age 83 years.  Predeceased by husband; Richard Hilimire and son; Richard F. Hilimire II.  Survived by her son; Ronald F. Hilimire of Livonia, her daughter; Renee F. Hilimire of Ft. Meyers, her 7 grandchildren, her brother; Harold Janson, and her sister; Joyce Tassone.

Avon/Livonia:  Larry L. Martz, formerly of Perry, NY passed on July 22, 2019 at age 61.  Predeceased by his parents William and Ethel (Sliker) Martz and siblings; Charles Martz, Jeffrey Martz, and Karen McLaughlin.  Survived by daughters; Jacquelyn Martz and Anna Martz (Bob Mastowski) all of Livonia; grandsons, Logan and Ryker; and brother Jonathan (Patricia) Martz of Valencia, PA.  Also survived by several aunts, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Ruth Marion Schuyler “Ruthie” ~ July 20, 2019

Livonia:  Ruth Marion Schuyler, age 11 months of Livonia, passed away peacefully at Golisano Children’s Hospital in Rochester, NY on Saturday, July 20, 2019.  Ruthie was born in Rochester on August 8, 2018 to Margaret and Ryan Schuyler.  Survived by her older sister; Eleanor, her grandparents; Malcolm White of West Wareham, MA, Martha and Sewall Janeway of Brunswick, ME and Deborah and John Schuyler of Wayland, NY., her great grandparents, along with countless aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Ruth, affectionately known as Ruthie to friends and family, was a contented baby, always laughing, smiling, and bringing joy to those privileged to have known her.  She was strong and determined when faced with adversity and will endure in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

John J. “Jay” Shultis ~ July 15, 2019

Rochester- John J. “Jay” Shultis, 79, passed away on Monday, July 15, 2019 surrounded by the love of his family.

Jay was born in Amityville, NY on April 5, 1940 to the late Kenneth and Claire Shultis. On April 23, 1960 Jay married the love of his life, Judy. They were married for 59 years and together they raised four children. Jay was a career electrician for over 40 years. He will be remembered for his love of hunting, fishing, and the ocean. His passion in life was his grandchildren.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Judy, his children, Timothy (Laura) Shultis, Lori (Michael) Cross, Jeffrey (Deborah) Shultis, Gregory (Xann McDonald) Shultis, and his grandchildren, Katelyn Shultis, Brandi Phillips, Tricia O’Connor, Jessa Shultis, Morgan Shultis, Joshua Shultis, Zachary Shultis.

A memorial service will be held at the Kevin W Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc.,  8624 Main St, Honeoye, NY 14471, on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at 12:00pm.

Jean M. Allen ~ July 15, 2019

Honeoye/Avon:  At age 86, Jean passed away peacefully on Monday, July 15, 2019 at the M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center at Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua.  She was born in Richmond, NY to the late George and Irene Ashley.  Jean is predeceased by her sister; Joyce Ashley.  Survived by her husband of 65 years; Harold G. Allen of Livonia, her children; Cindy Wagner and her husband Bob of Montvale, NJ, Blane Allen and his wife Nadia of Montgomery, NY, and Dale Allen and his wife Judy of Penfield, NY, her grandchildren; Christopher Allen and his wife Hilary, Stephanie Allen, Michael Allen, Kristyn Allen, Jeffery Allen, Brian Wagner and Trevor Wagner, along with her dog, “Bailey.”

Jean was an elementary school teacher at the Caledonia – Mumford Central School and a past member of the Avon Methodist Church.  Throughout her retirement, she enjoyed camping and traveling with Harold as well as spending quality time with her grandchildren.

Beatrice A. Cottrell “Arlene” ~ July 13, 2019

Geneseo:  At age 88, Arlene passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Strong Memorial Hospital.  She was born in Nunda, NY to the late Raymond and Lillian Schmidt.   Arlene was predeceased by her beloved husband; George R. Cottrell, her sons; Robert L. Cottrell and James R. Cottrell.  Survived by her children; Christopher G. (Sandy) Cottrell, George J. Cottrell, and Catherine M. (Carmello Sofia) Cottrell, her grandsons; Seth (Sarah) Stramonine, Jeremie (Amanda Loretto) Stramonine, and Cody Cottrell, her 6 great grandchildren, and her beloved cat, “Tigger.”

Arlene was a graduate from Victor High School, where she met her dear friend Fran Bowe.  Fran and her were two peas in a pod and have remained very close friends through all of these years.  She worked for nearly 40 years for Mobile Chemical where she made many friends that she has kept in contact with since retirement.  Cate and Mel will greatly miss their weekly Uno championships with Mom.

Mariane L. Clark (Pasnak) “Skeezy” ~ July 10, 2019

Livonia:  July 10, 2019 at age 70.  Predeceased by her husband William Clark, daughter Melissa Clark, son John Clark, and parents Michael and Mary Pasnak.  Survived by her daughter Michelle Fugle of Rochester; sister-in-law Tonya (Mike) McNeely of Perryton, TX; several cousins, nieces, and dear friends. 

Mariane was loved and respected by many.  She grew up in Livonia, attended school there, worked on her family farm, loved John Deere tractors, attended SUNY Geneseo for her teaching degree, taught at St. Agnes in Avon, and years later retired from Harris Seeds.  She was well known for her signature long brunette hair; strong work ethic, kind heart and generous character; never afraid to get her hands dirty; and her Mother’s tradition of baking amazing Christmas cookies every year that were enjoyed by many.  She will always have a place in the hearts and minds of all she encountered throughout her life.

Shawn M. Schmidt ~ June 30, 2019

Phelps/Livonia: June 30, 2019 at age 42.  Predeceased by his parents Matthew and Movureen (Shelley) Schmidt.  Survived by his sister Heidi (Larry) Beardsley of Rush and brother Luke (Myra) Schmidt of Arkport.  Shawn is also survived by 2 nieces and 1 nephew, aunts, uncles, several cousins and friends.

Shawn was born on April 9, 1977 in Rochester, NY to parents Matthew and Movureen Schmidt.  He attended Livonia High School and later worked as a machinist at Parlec in Fairport, NY. Shawn loved fishing in the Adirondacks and being outdoors.

Richard J. Davidson ~ July 2, 2019

Avon:  At age 88, Dick passed away peacefully on July 2, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family.  He was born in Rochester to the late, Robert and Blanche Davidson.  Dick was predeceased by his siblings; Robert Davidson and Elthea Close.  He is survived by his wife of 67 years; Katharine Davidson, his daughters; Valerie (Michael) Whitaker, Janis (Kelly) Cole, Tricia (Tom) Bruckel, his seven grandchildren; Shauna (Zack) Caratozzolo, Erin (Seth) Molisani, Jesse (Carrie) Cole, Jeffrey (Tanya) Bruckel, Colin (Amie) Bruckel, Emily Bruckel (Ken Burns), Evan Bruckel and his nine great grandchildren.

Dick was a submariner on the USS Batfish of the US Navy.  He and his Army vet wife enjoyed a trip to Washington, DC with Rochester Honor Flight.  Dick was an avid horseman who enjoyed many different types of equestrian activities.  He kept busy with many home improvement projects. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Guy R. Smith – July 1, 2019

Livonia:  Guy passed away on July 1, 2019 after a short illness at age 73.  He was predeceased by his wife of over 50 years Rhoma (Johnston) Smith, his parents Floyd and Jessie (Smiraglia) Smith, beloved son Steven Paul Smith and brother Gary Smith.  Survived by children, Shelly Ranney (Tom Bergman) of Rochester and Scott (Kellie) Smith of Syracuse; his brother Glenn (Gayle) Smith of NC; sisters-in-law Karyl (Rodney) Wixted of Geneseo and Sally (David) Smith of Springwater.  Also survived by dear grandchildren, Jordan & Riley Ranney, Nathan & Connor Smith, nieces & nephews, many other loving family, friends and his cocker spaniel Peaches.

Guy was born on April 23, 1946 in Rochester, NY to parents Floyd and Jessie Smith.  He served his country in the US Army including time stationed in Germany.  He married Rhoma Johnston Smith, his high school sweetheart, and they spent over 50 years together.  Guy retired from Accurate Acoustical in Victor, NY where he was a construction superintendent.   He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
