Honeoye/Avon: At age 86, Jean passed away peacefully on Monday, July 15, 2019 at the M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center at Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua. She was born in Richmond, NY to the late George and Irene Ashley. Jean is predeceased by her sister; Joyce Ashley. Survived by her husband of 65 years; Harold G. Allen of Livonia, her children; Cindy Wagner and her husband Bob of Montvale, NJ, Blane Allen and his wife Nadia of Montgomery, NY, and Dale Allen and his wife Judy of Penfield, NY, her grandchildren; Christopher Allen and his wife Hilary, Stephanie Allen, Michael Allen, Kristyn Allen, Jeffery Allen, Brian Wagner and Trevor Wagner, along with her dog, “Bailey.”
Jean was an elementary school teacher at the Caledonia – Mumford Central School and a past member of the Avon Methodist Church. Throughout her retirement, she enjoyed camping and traveling with Harold as well as spending quality time with her grandchildren.
Friends and Family are welcome to call on Thursday, July 18, 2019 from 4-7PM at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home, 8624 Main Street in Honeoye, NY, where her memorial service will immediately follow at 7 PM. Interment will take place privately at Richmond Center Cemetery. Grandma Jean is the sweetest most beautiful soul that I had the pleasure to know for 35 years. Such a true believer in love for everyone she knew. I will never forget our memories we shared. Say hi to my mom for me and give her a kiss for me. God has now two beautiful Angel’s in his presence..?
Your loss is my loss, too! I loved Jean and so enjoyed the years shared with all the “card club” group!! I willl always remember her so lovingly and miss her physical presence in our lives!!
