(Clifton) Miche Fambro ~ December 18, 2020

Nov. 6, 1956 – Dec. 18, 2020

Conesus:  Miché Fambro (known to his family and close friends as Mick) died much too soon on Dec. 18, 2020 after battling cancer.  He is survived by his wife, Wendy; daughters, Michael (Gerald Swanson) and Naomi; and granddaughters, Leona and Marqui Swanson Fambro.  Miché is also survived by his mother, Vivian McCord; siblings, Pat Fambro, Greg James and Angie McCord; many other cherished extended family members; his puppet, Newton, and his beloved guitar(s.)

Born in Philadelphia, Miché discovered the guitar in his early teens and almost immediately began gathering neighborhood friends to create music.  He was a natural arranger and bandleader, and due to being a lefty, he was also self-taught.  Not knowing any differently, young Mick just flipped the guitar over and his unique sound was born.  He left Philadelphia in 1979 to join a hotel band that toured the US.  Many gigs later, the band played a show in Geneseo, NY, and Miché decided to quit touring and stay for a while.  As it turned out, he met his wife in that small town and it became home.

Miché’s fans date back to his first Geneseo band, The Deserters, and then expanded with the birth of his very popular group, Miché and the Anglos.  Eventually, Miché moved into his solo career which he described as “recreating the energy of a band with a single instrument and voice.”  Being a fulltime, professional musician was a challenging road but ultimately brought him into venues throughout the US, Canada and Europe.  His online fanbase reaches around the world, and Miché earned a reputation for being a “breath of fresh air” with his original, intricate, compelling performances and his humble, humorous, self-effacing presence.  He was joy.  He was magic.

Behind the scenes was a loving, supportive family who were blessed to have Miché Fambro creating the soundtrack for their lives.  Wendy, Michael and Naomi want nothing more than to have people continue to discover and enjoy the music and videos that Miché created in his all-too-brief sojourn on this earth.

Please visit his YouTube channel: https://youtube.com/user/mfambro

A public celebration of Miche’s life and legacy will be held after COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.

Donations in memory of Miche Fambro may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church of Rochester, NY: online – www.immanuelrochester.org, or by check – 815 Park Ave., Rochester NY  14607.
