(Clifton) Miche Fambro ~ December 18, 2020

Nov. 6, 1956 – Dec. 18, 2020

Conesus:  Miché Fambro (known to his family and close friends as Mick) died much too soon on Dec. 18, 2020 after battling cancer.  He is survived by his wife, Wendy; daughters, Michael (Gerald Swanson) and Naomi; and granddaughters, Leona and Marqui Swanson Fambro.  Miché is also survived by his mother, Vivian McCord; siblings, Pat Fambro, Greg James and Angie McCord; many other cherished extended family members; his puppet, Newton, and his beloved guitar(s.)

Born in Philadelphia, Miché discovered the guitar in his early teens and almost immediately began gathering neighborhood friends to create music.  He was a natural arranger and bandleader, and due to being a lefty, he was also self-taught.  Not knowing any differently, young Mick just flipped the guitar over and his unique sound was born.  He left Philadelphia in 1979 to join a hotel band that toured the US.  Many gigs later, the band played a show in Geneseo, NY, and Miché decided to quit touring and stay for a while.  As it turned out, he met his wife in that small town and it became home.

Miché’s fans date back to his first Geneseo band, The Deserters, and then expanded with the birth of his very popular group, Miché and the Anglos.  Eventually, Miché moved into his solo career which he described as “recreating the energy of a band with a single instrument and voice.”  Being a fulltime, professional musician was a challenging road but ultimately brought him into venues throughout the US, Canada and Europe.  His online fanbase reaches around the world, and Miché earned a reputation for being a “breath of fresh air” with his original, intricate, compelling performances and his humble, humorous, self-effacing presence.  He was joy.  He was magic.

Behind the scenes was a loving, supportive family who were blessed to have Miché Fambro creating the soundtrack for their lives.  Wendy, Michael and Naomi want nothing more than to have people continue to discover and enjoy the music and videos that Miché created in his all-too-brief sojourn on this earth.

  1. Wendy, Michael and Naomi, I am so very sorry for your earthly loss of a wonderfully talented, gifted and kind man in Miche. I only just learned of his passing this morning while sitting in the doctor’s office and I was going to send him a message to say how much I was missing his posts. His music was just beautiful, it touched our hearts and it made me fall in love with ballads again. May God comfort your hearts, may His love envelope you and surround you with peace and light. The world is dimmer because of his passing.

  2. Miche’s music could go deep but the enduring memory I have of his music videos is the one where he’s singing with a big band, then when his part stops and the instruments take over he takes a comic book (or magazine) out of his back pocket and pretends to read until it’s his turn again. Priceless!

  3. Wendy and family,
How sad I am to read of Mick’s passing! He was a gem — a quiet personality with a velvet voice, a talented musician with a great sense of timing, a kind, gentle, and loving person, a fabulous family man. He certainly followed in your father’s footsteps, although neither man can be adequately described in loving enough terms or is an identical match to one another. I knew Don well, but only met Mick briefly (but did see him perform several times). How charming and kind he was, as if he had known me forever. I am so sorry for the significant loss of this exceptional human being.

Now he can make music unfettered by illness or pain. He can serenade the most important being in Heaven and sit at his right hand. You and your family continue to have my complete admiration. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help. And that request is truly sincere and genuine. All my affection and thoughts go out to you, Karen Duffy

  4. We are so sorry to you Wendy, Michael and Naomi upon hearing of Miche’s passing. He was a very kind, gentle man, a great father and a incredibly talented musician. Please know that your family is in our thoughts and prayers. The Richardsons keep you all in love.

  5. Cathy and I are so sorry to see that your husband died. We are keeping all of your family in our prayers.

  6. (Miche) Mick was a very special person. What more is there to say. He was lucky to have you and the girls. I was lucky to have met and known him as we all were. I hold you all close in my heart and in my prayers at this very difficult time. Love and peace to you Wendy, Michael and Naomi and the rest of us family.

  7. I have only discovered Miche’s music three days ago because someone shared his “Merry Little Christmas” song on Facebook and was stunned by his virtuosity and beautiful warm voice. From his performance and singing, you can understand what kind of person he was, and I felt very sad to read that Miche only a couple of days ago had left his earthly existence. May his music completely drenched from his loving and caring character continue to enchant people’s hearts. I am one of them.
    Thank you very much.

  8. It is unimaginable that I will not be able to call upon Miche’s gifts to celebrate my treasured moments. From my 60th birthday to my daughters wedding, teaching artist gigs and concerts, the missing will be great. May he bless heaven with those golden fingers and voice. He most certainly will have an audience including my dad and brother. Their music will be endlessly celestial.

  9. I am so sorry for your loss. I have many fond memories of Mick and his one-of-a-kind smile. Sending love and positive thoughts to all of you.
