Jack was born on June 29, 1920 in Wayland, NY to parents Karl & Lucille (Gray) Plail. He served his county in the US Navy and afterwards attended the University of Illinois where he received his degree in civil engineering. Jack was involved in many career endeavors including; Aircraft Design at Curtiss-Wright in Buffalo, NY and was the Plant Superintendent at Gunlocke in Wayland. In 1962 he designed and built the Swiss Chalet Motel in Bath, NY. He also owned a record store and car dealership. He owned rental property and was a commercial real estate broker, and also loved investing and picking stocks. Jack loved nature, hunting, trapping, fishing, tennis, and was an avid sailboat racer on Conesus Lake. Jack loved going to the different restaurants he was involved in including the Farmer’s Kitchen in Wayland, the Dutch Hollow Restaurant in East Avon, and the Country Kitchen in Hornell.

Jean E. Wieder, formerly of Hamburg NY, passed away on January 22, 2015, at age 95. He had been residing in the Livonia/Honeoye, NY area since 2006. Jean was predeceased by his parents Charles and Henrietta Wieder, and his brother Clayton Wieder. He is survived by his wife Mildred, children Elyse (Daniel) Durkee, Charles (Sharon) Wieder, sister Florence MacKearnin, 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Jean was involved with the Boy Scouts from his youth, and later served as a Scout Leader with the Hamburg, NY Troop 506 of the Great Niagara Frontier Council. He was also a Life Member of the NRA. Survived by his wife of 52 years Carol (Vollmer) Pendergast and children; Christine Pendergast, Thomas Pendergast, and Cheryl (Michael) Whitmarsh all of Livonia. Grandchildren; Tony (Nikki Lee) Whitmarsh, Nicole Whitmarsh, and Brendon Pendergast. Great-granddaughter; Emma Marie Whitmarsh. Leo E. Pendergast was born on December 4, 1934 in Rochester, NY to parents Thomas and Agnes (Costello) Pendergast. He attended St. Boniface grade school, Aquinas High School, and later Monroe Community College. He was a 3.50 student and was on the Dean’s List.

In his younger years Leo worked at Gregory Food Center and had a paper route while in school. He later was a Penitentiary Guard, worked at E.I.DuPont, and retired as a Social Work Administrator at the Lewis Street Center, Rochester, NY, where he worked from 1967-1998. He continued under contract doing same work under Rural Opportunities Inc. (ROI) which then became Pathstone through 2011. Back in 1971 forces joined Lewis Street with Monroe County DSS, Temple B’rith Kodesh, to begin TEMPRO, an Emergency Housing Program to assist victims of fires, domestic violence, or persons in need of emergency housing. This program began with three houses and grew to 13 units. By 2006 this program served 6,000 people and saved Monroe County $5 million.

Leo enjoyed the work he did and was also a foster parent for 10 years. He was a member of the Livonia Fire Department for many years. Leo Joined LVFD in February 1999 and served as Fire Police Captain as well as VP & President. He was the oldest person to complete Firefighter Scene Support, earning an “Atta-boy” Award. He was also awarded the Geo. L. Neidert Fire Police of the Year by Western NY Volunteer Firefighters Association in 2002. He also received the Richard Cox award, ROI Hall of Fame – advocate for homeless in Rochester, NY, the Senior Citizen Award for Livonia, A Certificate of Appreciation from the Native American Cultural Center, and was given the Marathon Man Certificate by the Lewis Street Center.

Linda has always been well known for her courage and good humor in the face of nearly constant medical issues since she was a child. Everyone who has ever met her was given a smile despite the pain she was always experiencing. Since graduating from Livonia Central in 1974, Linda has kept busy. For the past 14 years she has volunteered at Teresa House in Geneseo, and was fortunate to spend her last days in the comfort of this beautiful house surrounded by those she loved. For many years Linda could be found making memories and laughing with her “Crew”, often at Lamoka Lake. Most recently, she has enjoyed spending time with her three beautiful grandchildren.

Bristol: 81 passed away on January 14th, 2015 at his home. Ernie was born on August 30th, 1933 in Canandaigua NY to the late Leon and Elsie Pestle and predeceased by his stepfather Connie Jones.

Ernie grew up in Bristol, NY and had many careers including beef, dairy farming, construction and later retiring from Honeoye Storage Corporation in 1995. A sweet, thoughtful and caring family man who loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter who was especially proud of the accomplishments of his four sons and his grand-daughters whether hunting deer or competing in the local sports scene.

He also enjoyed reading, woodworking, walks around the block, Saturday night poker, bowling, golfing and watching sports of all kinds. He especially loved spending time with family and friends at this home in Bristol. He also loved the local sports and could be seen on the sidelines cheering on the Honeoye Bulldogs or the Bloomfield Bombers.

Ernie is survived by his wife Mary of 60 years, four sons David (Linda) Pestle of Virgil NY, Greg (Jeanine) Pestle of Bristol, NY, Scott (Cathy) Pestle of Bristol, NY, Matt (Laurie Beth) Pestle, Liverpool NY, sister Joyce Connelly of Canandaigua, NY. 6 grandchildren Casey Pestle (Billy, Michael Meehan) Lindsey, Taylor, Haley, Kali and Mia Pestle and Linda’s children Katie and Michael Warren. His faithful dog “Murphy”, several nieces and nephews. Tom served his country in the U.S. Army.

Tom was born September 13, 1933 in Avon. A life long member of St. Agnes Church, he served on the parish council. He was a former member of the Avon Rotary Club, Avon Fire Department, Pumper Company and a founding member of the Avon Cotillion. Tom was very active in Boy Scouting in Avon, serving in many different capacities over the years. He also was a long time coach in the Avon Little League. Tom was one of the original founders of Rochester Consumer Credit Counseling. Tom was the proud owner and operator of Cochrane’s Cove in Avon.

Ron was a graduate of Madison High School, Rochester, NY: SUNY Geneseo in 1965: and graduated from Albany Law School in 1968. He served his country in the United States Coast Guard Reserve from 1959-1967. He was a private practice attorney, worked in the Monroe County Public Defender’s Office, and the Livingston County District Attorney’s office, serving as an ADA and the DA from 1971-1975. In 1975 he ran for the Office of County Court Judge. He was elected Livingston County Court Judge in 1976 and was the longest serving Judge in New York State, serving the county for 30 years. He was an avid, well-respected horseman who participated in the Genesee Valley Hunt, trail riding in New York and Tennessee, and was an advisor to the Livingston County Sheriff’s Mounted Patrol.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, January 12th, at 10am at SUNY Geneseo Wadsworth Auditorium, Geneseo, NY. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Honeoye/Livonia: January 7, 2015 at age 78 years. Predeceased by his first wife Phyllis Blair Thayer. Survived by his wife Rachel Harris Thayer; children Alice (Tom) Mann of Honeoye, Victor (Amy) Thayer of Mendon, Harold (Robyn) Harris of Lima, Joann (John) King of Lakeville, Scott (Peggy) Harris of Honeoye, Todd (Lin) Harris of Pittsford. 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Victor “Vic” was born October 21, 1936 in Pennsylvania. He enlisted in the Army at a young age. That is where he learned to drive tractor trailer. He continued to drive truck as his lively hood for the rest of his life. He eventually retired from Saint Johnsbury Trucking Company. The retirement did not last long as he was not one to sit still. He picked up many jobs driving until he landed a job driving a tow truck for his beloved friend Mike. Rain or shine he would be out helping people because no one could do it as well as he could.

He had a few hobbies including wood working. He was an avid reader and followed car racing. He really enjoyed sprint car racing. He even raced stock cars earlier in his life. He had a great sense of humor and loved to share jokes.

He had a big heart, he loved his family and always was happiest when he was with one of his kids. He was a loving gentle husband and always put his family first. He welcomed each new grandchild with bragging rights. He encouraged his children to follow their dreams even if it took them away from him. Best of all he was he was my dad even though he did not have to be.

Shirley was born on June 1, 1937 in Hemlock, NY to parents Chester and Rebecca (Mosteller) Reeser. She was an employee of ENI in Henrietta, NY for over 30 years. Both Shirley and her husband Merlin were life long New York Yankees Fans.
