Avon: Thomas E. Cochrane, 81 years of Hal-Bar Road, Avon died January 7, 2015, at Strong Memorial Hospital. Predeceased by his wife Margaret “Peggy” in 2011, his parents Wilford and Elizabeth Cochrane. Survived by his children Daniel (Deborah) Cochrane, Kathleen (Dale) Cruickshank, Laurie (William) Schreiber, Timothy Cochrane, Michael (Emily) Cochrane and David (Tovah) Cochrane. 14 grandchildren, Seth, Nicholas, Michael, Billy, Katie, Tommy, Steven, Elizabeth, Ellen, Christopher, Sean, Ellyse, Josh and Emma. His faithful dog “Murphy”, several nieces and nephews. Tom served his country in the U.S. Army.
Tom was born September 13, 1933 in Avon. A life long member of St. Agnes Church, he served on the parish council. He was a former member of the Avon Rotary Club, Avon Fire Department, Pumper Company and a founding member of the Avon Cotillion. Tom was very active in Boy Scouting in Avon, serving in many different capacities over the years. He also was a long time coach in the Avon Little League. Tom was one of the original founders of Rochester Consumer Credit Counseling. Tom was the proud owner and operator of Cochrane’s Cove in Avon.
Friends may call Friday, January 9th, from 3-7 pm at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home Inc., 21 Big Tree Street, Rtes 15 & 20A, Livonia. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 10th at 10:00 am at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 108 Prospect St., Avon, NY. Burial, St. Agnes Cemetery, Avon, with Full Military Honors.
