David was born Oct. 4, 1958 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, New York. He attended special education in Leicester and worked at Hilltop Industries in Mt Morris. David was a fixture at the Banker Farm on Triphammer Road where he loved the family and the action. He also loved and enjoyed his many friends, bowling, family picnics and any kind of gathering.

John G. Hamilton M.D. – December 2, 2015

Wayland/Springwater: December 2, 2015 at age 92 years. Predeceased by his wife Harriet. Survived by his children; Ann, Andrew, and Jane; grandchildren, Mark and Anne; and great-grandchild Trenton. Also survived by his brother Al (Wanda) Hamilton of KY and nieces & nephews.

John was born on March 1, 1923 in Seneca Falls, NY to parents Alfred and Eleanor (Gordon) Hamilton. He served his country in the United States Navy from 1942-1946 and then entered into his study of medicine.

After graduating from the University of Rochester and U or R Medical School, he practiced OB-Gyn for 40 years in Rochester and was a former president of the Monroe County Medical Society and Medical Director of the NYS Dept. of Health for the Rochester area. He and his wife were elected National Outstanding Tree Farmers in 1991.

Naples: Jean M. Wood, formerly of Honeoye, passed away on December 1, 2015 at Soldiers and Sailors Hospital, Penn Yan, NY. She was born August 19, 1932 in Canandaigua, NY to the late Herman G. Wood and Cecelia (Keane) Wood.

Surviving are her beloved caretaker, Helen Brown of Naples; brother, George F. Wood of Honeoye; and sister, Mrs. Gary (Rosemary) Fitzgerald of Kenton, OH. Also survived by two nieces; Mrs. John (Jane) Murray of Ft. Meier, VA and Mrs. James (Peggy Sue) Newkirk of Pt. Charlotte, FL; nephew, David M. Survived by daughters; Laurie (Steve) Parfitt of Livonia, Wendy Webster of MD, Linda (Ron) Closser of Rochester, and Kathleen (Bill) Didas of Brockport. 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Jeanne and Charlie Webster proudly operated the Tee & Gee for almost 28 years. Jeanne’s legend was her ability to make all feel welcome served with a cold drink and a warm smile. Jeanne loved her patrons like family, her staff like her own children, and Charlie like no other. Wednesday afternoon dice games were a town favorite. They resided on Conesus Lake for most of their lives, retired and moved to Florida. Jeanne returned to New York a few years ago after Charlie passed.

After a few days with family surrounding her bed, Jeanne died peacefully with her daughter Laurie at her side. We celebrate Jeanne’s life with fresh blooming lilacs, an old Frank Sinatra tune, and a Seagrams 7 and club soda!

Honeoye: November 22, 2015 at age 94 years. Predeceased by his wife Gloria in 2003. Survived by daughters; Victoria (Thomas) Vogt of VA, Deborah (Fay) Caskey of Bristol, and Peggi (Scott) Harris of Honeoye. 7 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and several nieces & nephews.

Ken was born on July 26th, 1921 in Lima NY. His parents were farmers and he unloaded his first load of wheat when he was 5 years old and milked his first cow when he was seven. He went to a one room school house and had to walk about 5 miles to go to school. He and his brother had to milk the cows and feed the horses before they went to school. He really liked going to school but he missed 6 weeks in the Fall to get the crops in and 3 weeks in the Spring to plant them. In 1929, bread was 5 cents a loaf but times were very hard. Every year his Dad would give the man who owned the only grocery store in Hemlock 2 or 3 cows to pay for the groceries.

Ken married Gloria Sammis on July 28, 1944 and moved to Long Island which was where Gloria was raised. They were married for 59 years and had three daughters.

He worked until he was 84 years old. He worked as a millwright at Kodak and several other companies. His favorite hobbies were gardening, fishing, hunting and fixing anything in sight. Ken Werder was hard working, kind, well-loved and will be missed by many.

Bev was born on January 26, 1942 in Cattaraugus, NY to parents Leland and Muriel Waite. She attended Houghton and Buffalo State Colleges and was an elementary school teacher for many years. She taught at both Letchworth and Honeoye-Falls Lima Elementary Schools. She was an avid gardener, loved arranging flowers, and enjoyed reading & antique collecting. Bev was a member of the Hemlock Methodist Church for many years. She was an avid reader and lifelong learner with a keen interest in current events. Though confined to a wheel chair in her later years, Marie found joy in each day. Her legacy of faith shines as a beacon for all she leaves behind.

Grandchildren; Jaimi (Gideon) Bratcher, Lore Lozier, Kara (Dan) Ferner, Maranda Lozier, Candi Holbert, and Keefe Lozier. Also survived by 8 great-grandchildren, sister Elizabeth (Michael) Weiss of OH, and several nieces & nephews.

Sherwood was an Eagle Scout, served his country in the US Army and was stationed in Japan, and was a member of the Lakeville Fire Department for almost 70 years. He held every position including Chief, several times. He was a Fire Commissioner, was a member of the Livonia Masonic Lodge, and was also a Past Lodge Master. Sherwood drove school bus for the Livonia School District and also for Kemp’s Bus Service and did not retire from driving until age 81. His hobbies including sailing and flying and he with help of good friends built Hanna’s Acres Airport in Lakeville, NY. He was a member of Christ Community Church in Geneseo for many years.

Rochester: Passed away on November 4, 2015 at age 73. He is survived by his wife Vicki, son Brian (Allison) Nicholson, daughter Megan (Thomas) Walters, four wonderful grandchildren, Liam, Henry, Morgan, and Eleanor (EV), sister Susan (Jonathan) Siegel, brother Thomas (Josephine) Nicholson, and six nieces and nephews.

John was born to John and Doris Nicholson in Kalamazoo, MI in 1941. He spent his childhood in Royal Oak, MI and Eastchester, NY with his younger siblings Susan and Tom. He completed undergraduate and graduate degrees at Colgate University.

He married Vicki Bauer in 1966 and after completing graduate school, they settled in southern Maryland. While there he worked in college administration, but more importantly was captivated by the beauty of the Chesapeake Bay, which began a lifelong interest in being on the water.
In 1980, he returned to New York and pursued a career in human resource management which spanned 30 years.

Residing in Pleasantville, he and Vicki raised their son Brian and daughter Megan. He most enjoyed spending time with family and friends and maintained very close ties with people from all periods of his life.

Since retiring to Rochester, he was active in the Christ Church community and Episcopal Senior Life doing what he loved, serving others and listening to outstanding organ music.

New Orleans/Livonia: Timothy K. Baker, associate professor and director of the Delgado Theatre program and coordinator of Delgado’s Performance and Media Arts Department, passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at Ochsner Medical Center, New Orleans surrounded by his family and friends.

Born in Rochester, N.Y., Tim graduated from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Oswego where he studied Architecture before majoring in Theatre. He went on to complete his Master’s degree, graduating from the United States International University in San Diego. Tim moved to New York and worked as an actor and dancer in many productions in New York City. Recognizing his unique abilities, SUNY Oswego recruited him to direct several musicals for their Lakeside Dinner Theatre (Ain’t Misbehavin’ , Mack and Mabel, Pump Boys and Dinettes) and for their Summer Lyric Theatre (West Side Story and Once upon a Mattress). Oswego colleagues described him as brilliant, innovative and highly energized. Students found him to be demanding while at the same time instilling a deep sense of commitment and confidence.

Tim found his way to New Orleans and created the Theatre Department at Delgado Community College (DCC), where he served as the school’s Director of Theatre. Over his 25 years at DCC, he applied his creativity and charisma to his productions as a director and/or producer. These productions, numbered more than 65 total, were met with popular and critical acclaim. Tim made a substantial mark not only on the college, but also on the community as a driving force in theatre instruction, performance production, and direction. In addition to his classroom lessons, he shared life lessons with his students.

He was a three-time Big Easy award-winning director for his productions of Hair, Dreamgirls and Urinetown. In 2010, he received the Seymour Weiss Endowed Professorship for Excellence in Teaching Award, the highest honor the college bestows upon its faculty. Tim’s other awards include the Anniversary Class Alumni Award from SUNY Oswego, the Matteh Foundation Vanguard Award, recognition from the New Orleans City Council and the Mayor of New Orleans, the Delgado Dolphin and Shining Star Award. While at Delgado Tim served as department head for both Performance and Media Arts and Music, has served on the College Committee for Student Organizations and Activities, was a member of the Faculty Senate 2004-2009 and is a founding member of the Black History Month Committee. He also wrote grants for the renovation of the Main Auditorium on Delgado’s City Park Campus. The theater he worked so hard for is just about complete and is scheduled to open in April 2016. He was a sports enthusiast and loved watching the Saints.

He was the son of the late Eugene and Ruth Baker of Livonia, New York. He is survived by his four siblings James Baker (Sharon), Barbara Dolce, Thomas Baker (June) and Patricia Lawlor (James). Tim is also survived by many cherished nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and students. He will be loved and missed by all who knew him. Lorraine grew up in Buffalo and talked fondly of living on Bailey Avenue and Decker Street where she met her lifelong friend Faith. She eventually moved to Hemlock where she graduated from High School.

She grew up with Warren, being that their parents were longtime friends. They were married 68 years and always lived in the Town of Richmond.

Lorraine was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved her family and enjoyed feeding them her home cooked meals and desserts. She was a loyal friend and enjoyed visiting and hearing about their lives. Her 2 black cats, Seymour and Tommy, were her sweet companions in her later years.

Mumford: Passed peacefully at Monroe Community Hospital on October 25, 2015, at age 70 years, with family members at her side. Survived by her husband Patrick “Cully” Culbreth of Mumford, daughters; Denise (Matt) Schwan of Avon and Sara Bowne (Todd Chaykosky) of TX. Step-daughter Trista (Mikey) Sampson of Mumford. Grandchildren; Danyca, Sean, Jack, Erin, Kate, and Jocelyn. Siblings; Eddy (Lorraine) LaDue of Ithaca, Connie (Charles) Bagley of Penn Yan, and Phil (Sue) LaDue of OH. Nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other loving family and friends.
