James “Jim” H. Hanna, a lifelong resident of Avon, passed peacefully away on May 28, 2013, surrounded by his loving wife of 48 years, Betty Anne (nee O’Brien), and his children. Jim was born on April 3rd, 1940, and graduated from Avon Central School.

Jim was a third-generation farmer, working side by side with his father on the family farm in South Avon all of his life. He was devoted to his parents, Agnes and Hamilton Hanna, and to the farm.

Jim was a shy, unassuming observer of his surroundings. He rarely spoke, but he always knew more about what was happening around him than those who spoke more. When he spoke, his humor and gentle laugh quickly put those around him at ease.

Predeceased by his sister, Mary Wess, Jim is survived by his wife, Betty Anne, four children, Lisa (Bill) Dean of Avon, Tim Hanna of Avon, Molly (Gardner) Low of Avon, and Jennifer (Rob) Simonetti of Pittsford. Jim has eight much loved grandchildren, Alex and Max Dean; Ethan, McKenzie and Aydan Low; Lucas, Colby, and Maya Simonetti. Jim also has three sisters, Joyce (Don) Polle of Lima, Peggy Gunther of Avon, Joan (Bob) Madigan of Honeoye and many nieces and nephews.

hoffmanpicCanandaigua: Fred Hoffman died at his home May 28, 2013 of a long term heart condition at age 64. He was predeceased by his parents Dorothy and Charles. He is survived by four siblings; Charles (Kathy), Dorothy, Lorrie (Dick), and Frank (Alice). He also had eight half siblings; David, Daniel, Donald, Cathy, Steven, Vickie, Rickie, and Connie. Aunts & uncles; Ruth Hoffman Paternostro, James Hoffman, Cecelia Hoffman Potter. Many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Fred lived nine years longer than his heart physicians projected. As a 100% disabled Vietnam Veteran, he did as best with life as he could. He loved going to concerts, hanging out with his friends (Dale and Mark), playing/talking sports, political bantering as a staunch republican, and continuing his dedication to the Marine Corp. He did not want a viewing or funeral. He requested that he be cremated with ashes directed to Arlington Cemetery and the remainder buried with his father at a Military Service at Mt. Morris, Chapel Street, Cemetery. Allowing for all the siblings to come together, this will take place July 2014. Isabella Howitt Neff of Conesus, passed away peacefully, at her home in Lima, NY, May 22, 2013 with family surrounding her. She is survived by loving husband, Richmond B. Neff, Jr. her 3 devoted sons, Richmond (Jenni) Neff, lll of Laguna Niguel, Ca. Leland H. Neff of Fultonham, NY & Keith W. (Quisqueya) Neff of Boca Raton, Florida. Cousin, Laura Craft of Conesus.

Isabella was born in Conesus, NY, attended “the Little Schoolhouse” in Conesus, until entering and then graduating from Livonia Central School, Livonia, NY. Her wedding to her career naval officer husband in her Church in Conesus was followed with a lifetime of moves.
She was chosen as the very first manager of the first bank to be established on Providenciales Island, Turks & Caicos Islands, British West Indies.
During her long residence in Angel Fire, New Mexico, she was very active in community affairs where she served on the first Church Council and was a Founder of the United Church of Angel Fire. She served on the Library Board which established the first library in Angel Fire. She enjoyed duty on Public Election Boards in Raton, Eagle Nest and Angel Fire, NM, and as Presiding Judge for elections in Angel Fire.
She particularly loved her association with the Sorority ‘Friends in Beta Sigma Phi’ where she actively participated in the charitable activities of the Organization. Isabella loved skiing, of which she passed that love to young Olympics girls, who learned skiing skills at the Angel Fire Slopes.

Funeral services will be held in the Conesus United Church, Route 15, Conesus NY, Saturday, May 25, 2013 at 11 AM followed by a luncheon in the Fellowship Hall of the Church. Nancy J. Bartholf of Conesus, passed peacefully at Strong Memorial Hospital on May 10, 2013, while being comforted by members of her family. Nancy was a graduate of Oakfield High School & Genesee Community College & worked in various positions for Liberty National Bank for several years. Before retiring, she was manager at Liberty’s (then Central Bank) branch in Elba, NY. Prior to her time at Liberty/Central, Nancy also worked a number of years for the United States Gypsum Company & Better’s Enterprise, also in Oakfield. She was a longtime member of the Zonta International Organization for the advancement of women. She also was a member of both St. Michael’s Church in Oakfield & St. Michael’s Church in Geneseo.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Paul; their 3 children, Dan (Amy) Bartholf of Geneseo, Todd (Anji) Bartholf of California & Kim DeVitto of Conesus. 4 grandchildren, Mitchell, Sydney, Caitlin, & Andrew.
