Lillian Traynor Kurtz, 97 years, formerly of Livonia and an 8 year resident of California, died March 11, 2010 in Mission Viejo, California. She was born on January 21, 1913 in Groveland, NY. She was the second child of James A. Traynor and Jessie Craig Traynor.
Lillian spent the majority of her 97 years of life in New York State. She lived between Groveland and Nunda during her early years. She was a graduate of Nunda High School. In December, 1937 Lillian married Vincent Kurtz. They owned and worked farms in Cohocton NY,then, Livonia NY.
Lillian’s faith in God was her guide throughout her life. She was a member of the Catholic religion. Lillian was a registered Democrat and served as an election inspector in election districts in the town of Livonia.
Lillian was a seamstress. She could sew and tailor clothes to perfection. She was an amazing quilter. She could knit and crochet without missing a stitch. Lillian had a ‘green thumb’ recognized by the beautiful flowers she grew. Lillian was an avid reader and enjoyed a variety of literature. Lillian enjoyed dancing.
Lillian was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Vincent in February 2002. She is survived by her children Rita Kurtz of Newport Beach, CA, William (Barbara) Kurtz of Livonia, Sally Roberts of Killington, VT, Jim (Linda) Kurtz of Irvine, CA, Ann (Robert) Glennon of Lake Worth, FL, Karen Kurtz-West (Daniel) of Rochester, Debra (James) Stewart of Murfreesboro, TN, 15 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren. Cousin Roberta Shores Grover of Nunda; nieces and nephews.
Lillian worked as a server for many years at the former Foster’s Restaurant in Avon, NY. She developed many friendships at her job and was affectionately know as “Aunt Lill”.
Friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass Friday, April 23, 2010 at St. Matthew Church, Route 20A, Livonia at 10 AM.
