Canandaigua – Rita M. Schuster, age 93, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, September 12, 2020. She is survived by three sisters, (her twin) Rose M. Joyce, Barbara (Richard) Nowakowski and Alice-Ann Schuster; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three siblings, Vincent Schuster, Kathryn Walrath and George Schuster.

Rita was born June 29, 1927 in Livonia and was the daughter of George and Marie (Kervin) Schuster. She attended Livonia schools and was a graduate of Livonia Central School, class of 1944. Rita attended SUNY Geneseo for one year and then earned a nursing certification from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Rochester in 1948. She worked as a registered nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital, Strong Memorial Hospital and also did private duty nursing in the Rochester area, retiring in 1985. Rita was a life member of NYS Nurses Association, a member of St. Mary’s Church, Ontario Co. Historical Society, Granger Homestead Society and Sonnenberg Gardens, where she volunteered. She was also a volunteer for Office of the Aging, for the Meals on Wheels program. Rita enjoyed gardening and genealogy.

Her funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, at 11 am, at St. Mary’s Church, 95 N. Main St., Canandaigua. A graveside service will follow at 1pm, at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Shelly Rd., Livonia. Batavia, NY:  Dennis J. Wittman passed away peacefully at Charlotte House, North Java, NY on July 1, 2020 and was born on June 2, 1943 in Buffalo, New York the late Jerome and Evelyn (Hamilton) Wittman. Dennis is survived by his wife, Carol (Chmielowiec), daughter, Holly (Michael) Stoddard of Honeoye, NY, daughter, Jennifer (fiancée, Alfred Flores) of San Antonio, TX, sister, Kathie (Paul) Beaulieu of Cheektowaga, N.Y., brother, Philip (Nancy) of Akron, NY, brother in law, Dr. A. Steven Bangs of Long Island, NY, sister in law, Marsha Deman of Defiance, Ohio  and nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great niece and nephew and his dear Husky Buddy, Kodah. Predeceased in death by his brother Allan Wittman, sister in law, Jeanette Bangs and sister in law, Dolores Clark.

Dennis was a graduate of Cleveland Hill High School, State University of New York at Buffalo, Wadhams Hall Seminary and University of Rochester. He was employed by Genesee County first as a Probation Officer from 1969 to 1980 and from 1980 to 2005 as first Director of Genesee Justice with the Genesee County Sheriff’s Department.

Dennis incorporated the Restorative Justice model to the program and Genesee Justice received world-wide notoriety and was recognized as a leader in promoting victims’ rights.  His career spanned traveling to 44 states, 6 Canadian Provinces and Japan speaking on Genesee Justice.

Dennis was a member of Ascension Parish, Batavia, New York. He was Vice President of the Sacred Heart Holy Name Society, President of Sacred Heart Parish Council, Religious Education Teacher and Pre-Cana Instructor with his wife.

Conesus, NY: Born in Angola, Indiana on August 15, 1949, Bonnie grew up in Findley Lake, NY, and relished living the last 35 years on a wooded hillside in Conesus, NY.

Bonnie graduated Valedictorian from Clymer Central School in 1967, and received her master’s degree from SUNY Geneseo in 1971. She spent most of her career teaching English to 7^th graders at Pavilion Central School. You can recognize her former students by their impressive ability to diagram sentences.

Bonnie was an active member of the United Methodist Church of Livonia. Beyond the local church, she also found joy teaching, serving in Lay Servant Ministries, and providing leadership for the United Methodist Western NY Conference.

She hated to fly, but loved to be behind the wheel of her car. Vacations, adventures, Emily’s soccer games, even driving across the country twice, enabling her to fulfill her lifelong goal of visiting Alaska. In retirement, she combined her love of the road with her passion for helping others by driving patients to medical appointments for Catholic Charities.

An ardent Buffalo Bills fan, Sunday afternoons were for folding laundry and watching football. She also never turned down a round of Boggle, Bananagrams, or Rummikub, and was always ready to pull together a euchre match.

Bonnie loved her extended family and was a pillar of the Montgomery clan. She was their historian, secretary, and treasurer, and avidly researched her family genealogy.

Thank you to everyone who supported Bonnie during her journey. We recognize we will never know all of the countless ways you helped during her final years.

Bonnie was preceded by her parents Barney and Margie Fergus and her children Joseph, Jacob, James, and Mary Crichton. She is survived by her husband Peter Crichton, daughter Emily (Ross) O’Hara, brother Ben (Sheri) Fergus, Norwegian exchange sister Betzy (Torfinn) Naper, and nieces, nephews, and cherished family and friends she lovingly adopted along the way.

Canadice:  At age 77, Bob passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 4, 2020 at his home in Canadice, NY.  He was born in Rochester, NY to the late C. Eugene and Evelyn Cooley.  Bob is predeceased by his brothers; John H. Cooley and David A. Cooley.  Survived by his loving wife of 52 years; Janis Cooley, his children; Brian Cooley (Lisa Sullivan), Erin Cooley (Timothy Brauner) and his sister; Nancy Sylver (Donald Agnello.), along with several nieces, nephews and friends.

Livonia:  Judith Hyde-Panipinto, age 82 of Livonia, NY (previously of Bradenton, FL) passed away Thursday, September 3, 2020.  Judith was born in Buffalo, NY but her family moved to Elba NY when she was very young.  She was blessed to grow up in this small town, a community where a child could play outside all day without fear.  A community where all looked after each other.  She attended New York State Teachers College at Fredonia where she ultimately majored in music.  This led to a career in the beginnings of music therapy for emotionally disturbed children.  Judy was given the opportunity to help implement the ORFF methodology of music therapy at Convalescent Hospital for Children by then director Dr. Sydney Koret.  With her career figured out Judy was able to navigate the ups and downs of life and raise five children.  She met the love of her life later in life and equally loved and was proud of her five step-children as she was of her own children.

She was able to continue her love of music and to be a part of a tight knit community when she retired with her 2^nd husband, Joseph Panipinto, to Golf Lakes Estates in Bradenton, FL.  Golf Lakes reminded her of the type of community where she grew up, where you know everyone’s name and help each other out.  She was active with the singing groups, piano accompaniment at social hour, directing the chorus in the annual music show, to ultimately producing the annual musical show multiple times.

Predeceased by her 2^nd husband Joseph Panipinto, mother Laura Groves, father Donald Myers, daughter Teresa Smith, son Michael J Hyde, and brother-in-law J. Russell Thomas.  She is survived by her long time companion John Roge of Chesterland OH; sister Kathleen Thomas of Rochester NY; children, Jerome Hyde of Tampa FL, Donald Hyde (Janice) of Conesus NY, and Christine Hyde of Livonia NY; step-children, John Panipinto (Joan), Michelle Coan, Kim Cleeves, Tracey Proctor, and Joey Little (John); and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  Family and friends will remember Judy for her unshakable faith and love of family, friends, music and being an active member of her community.

Livonia, NY/Lakeland, FL:  At age 76, Cheryl passed peacefully on September 1, 2020 at the Scott Lake Heath and Rehabilitation in Lakeland, FL.  She was born on August 30, 1944 in Batavia, NY to the late John and Isabelle (Hall) Birmingham.  In addition to her parents, Cheryl was predeceased by the love of her life and husband, H. Thomas Hodges; sons, Rick and Mark Bohrer; and brother David Birmingham.  Survived by her daughters, Amy (George) Anderson and Kelly Trader; siblings, Mark Birmingham and John (Sandra) Birmingham; grandchildren, Sidney Anderson, Emily Bohrer, Tori Trader, Amanda Trader, Allyson Trader and many other loving family and friends.

Cheryl was a mother, wife, sister, grandmother, stepmother, and friend to so many people. She was a nurse for over 40 years. She was a caregiver, a nurturer, and a straight shooter. She faced so much in her life. From being a single mother, to later helping care for and love three additional children, the loss of her husband, her parents, friends and loved ones, the big move to Florida, and most devastatingly, the loss of her two sons. She transitioned through each triumph and tragedy with grace and determination. She was a rock that others depended upon, and she took her job very seriously. Above all, Cheryl was a fighter, a survivor. Being so very ill since 2016 brought about new challenges. The transitions that were made were difficult, but she soldiered on, like only a mother could. On 8/31/20, she had a window visit with her local family to celebrate her birthday and share in love with her. She had a good day, and she said her goodbyes without even knowing it. The woman she was and the memories that were created will live on in her loved ones.

Wayland:  August 31, 2020 at age 72.  Larry was born on April 6, 1948 to the late Arthur and Viola (Wood) Pragle.  Survived by his wife Della (Rathman) Pragle; daughter Melissa Gleason; granddaughter Emma Gleason; and siblings, John (Sharon) Pragle, David (Racine) Pragle, Dixie Carmody.  Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

Larry was born in Dansville, NY and spent most of his life in the Dansville and Wayland communities.  He was a truck driver and loved going to tractor pulls.  He was a long time member of the Dansville Moose Club.  Larry was a NASCAR fan and loved to watch and go to races.

Livonia:  At age 92, Eleanor passed peacefully at her home on August 29, 2020.  She was born on March 1, 1928 in Livonia, NY to the late William and Marian (Payne) Wood.  Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Donald H. Eleanor was born in South Livonia and lived her entire life in Livonia.  She and husband Don raised seven children in the village and were involved in many organizations including the Lima Grand Squares, the Livonia Grange, the Livonia Historical Society and the Genesee Country Museum where she and Don both worked as interpreters of Living History.  In addition to her raising seven children, Eleanor was an excellent wallpaper hanger and beautified many of the homes in the area.  Eleanor was an extremely creative and talented sewer and made beautiful ball gowns and uniforms for historical reenacting. She also created lovely quilts and did very fine needle work in a variety of mediums.  She was a lifelong member of South Livonia United Church of Christ and volunteered many hours to the church over the years. Eleanor enjoyed singing as a member of numerous choirs, traveling, and looking for garage sale treasures.

Farmington:  On Sunday, August 23, 2020, Steve Ruderman, loving father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Mt. Morris, NY. He was 78 years old.

Steve was born on January 24, 1942 in The Bronx, NY to the late Jack Ruderman and Augusta Siegel Ruderman.  He went to The Bronx High School of Science and graduated from New York University where he majored in English and Education. He later received his Master’s in Communications from Framingham State University. He spent his summers in Parksville, NY where his grandparents owned a hotel. Steve was married in 1963 and had two daughters, Dara and Michele. Steve lived in Yorktown for many years where he raised his daughters and opened Aquarius Communications and Copy-Rite printing stores as well as a used book store. Steve was a Councilman in town and was very involved in local politics. He later moved to New Bern, NC to teach English and film at Pamlico Community College in Grantsboro where he received the Outstanding Instructor Award. Steve later retired and moved closer to his grandchildren in Farmington, NY as well as a brief stay in Bethel, CT.

A curmudgeon with a rebellious nature, Steve was always willing to listen with an open heart and give his non-judgmental advice. He never met a dog he didn’t like and loved to spoil his grand-dogs. Steve loved to garden and started vegetable gardens for the residents in his senior living apartments and later at his nursing home.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, Jack and Mother, Augusta. He is survived by his daughters Dara Pavia (Frank) and Michele Hunt (John), grand children, Jessica, Hudson, Zachary, Jackson, Jordan, Jessica, Jailyn and great granddaughter, Aria, his sister Marcia Smith, cousins Barbara Krongel, Michael Krongel, Harvey Siegel, Jeffrey Siegel, Stephan Siegel, nieces Janine and Lisa and nephew, Mott, as well as many close friends.

James A. White of Livonia, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2020. He was 74.

Born July 20, 1946, he was the son of the late T. Arthur “Art” and Anna Marie “Ann” (Lacey) White. Jim attended Honeoye school before serving his country honorably as an Airman First Class in the United States Air Force from 1963-67.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Patricia, and brother, Dale. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Gail (Fugle) White, and sons, James (Leslie) White of Fairport, and Brian (Mindy) White of Livonia; grandchildren, Leah, Alex, Joe (Anija), and Libby; sister, Kathy Rowley; aunts, Lois Brisbane and Betty White; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was also survived by the Fugle Family, which he considered his “second family,” and he cherished each of them.

He and Gail were married May 30, 1964 and they lived in Oklahoma while he served in the military. They moved to Rochester for two years before settling in Livonia in 1971. Family was always Jim’s priority and he was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and friend to many.

For 36 years Jim was a dedicated employee of Eastman Kodak Company, where he was a mechanical technologist. He worked in instant film, clinical and engineering and was awarded 17 patents before retiring in 2003. He then went on to work at Infotonics for four years.

When his sons were young, Jim volunteered as a Cub Scout leader and Little League baseball coach. He was a member of South Livonia United Church of Christ and bowling leagues at the former Brongo Bowl. He was an avid golfer, mainly at Conesus Golf Club, though he rarely turned down an opportunity to play at other courses in the area.

He enjoyed working on cars and motorcycles, and always had a project — the largest being construction of his first home. Though if someone else had a project, he was more than willing to lend a hand to help a friend.

Lakeville:  At age 52, Michael passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.  He was born in Rochester, NY to John and Marilyn Dubowyk.  Survived by his beloved wife of 26 years Darlene Dubowyk, his children; Brittnee Dubowyk, Shawn Dubowyk, and his siblings; Lorry Hulse, Lisa Molina, John (Ginny) Dubowyk, Debi (Jack) Glover, and Steven Dubowyk, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

Friends and family are invited to call on Thursday, August 20, 2020 from 4-7PM at the Kevin W. Livonia: At age 68, Trisha passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 3, 2020 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. She was born in Queens, NY to the late; William and Elinor Howard. Trisha is predeceased by her husband; Elmer Matthews. Survived by her children John (Carmen Amparo Lecca-Rock) Rock, James (Kimberly Holland) Kennedy, Jennifer (Brent Fategoni) Kennedy, her grandchildren; Elizabeth Kennedy, Amelia Fategoni, Jericho Fategoni, her sisters; Elaine Miller-Roy, Marilyn Howard, Linda Carlson, and Carolyn Ruettgers .

Trisha loved nature, she enjoyed being out side watching birds, tending to her garden. She loved all animals, especially cats and owls.  She loved to can her own fruits and vegetables from her garden and was an amazing cook.  Trisha was a history enthusiast, especially when it came to local history.  She will be greatly missed.

Fairport: At age 85, Geraldine passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2020 at Highland Hospital in Rochester, NY. She was born in Canandaigua, NY to the late John and Clela Powers. Gerry was predeceased by her husband of 45 years; Jackie C. Deane. She is survived by special cousin William (Mary Jo) Ingraham, godchild Jeffrey Ingraham and Jamey Ingraham. Also, cousins Stephanie Butler and Richard Ingraham. Nieces: Patricia & William Quagliata (Billy and Michelle), Suzanne & Denny Trask (Todd/Jennifer and Benjamin), Kathleen & Dale VanNort (April & Ricky), Laurie Lunn Stevens (Ryann), Roxanne & Paul Hayes (Erin, Zoe, Hannah, Joanna). Nephews: Todd (Jennifer) Trask, Deane Park, Timothy Park, Kevin & Karen Lunn (Jennifer and Ashley) Ethan & June Deane (Seth & Hannah). Friends: Tony Wildy, Pat Millner and many other wonderful friends.

Geraldine was a graduate of SUNY Geneseo. She went on to work as a teacher in Penfield, NY at Indian Landing for over 30 years.

Gerry was always on the go, ready to join friends for golf, cards, mahjong, stitching, gardening, or lunch. She enjoyed travel, jazz music, attending plays, and visiting museums. She never made it past an ice cream stand!

Livonia: At age 70, Donna passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at Strong Memorial Hospital. She was born in Rochester, NY to the late Howard and Eileen Johnston. Donna is predeceased by her brother; Richard Johnston. Survived by her daughter; Stacey Baughman, her special niece and nephew Craig and Christie Gfeller, her siblings; Sheila Gfeller, Douglas (Dawn) Johnston, David Johnston, and her grandchildren; Jay Baughman, Miley Baughman, and Madelyn Roome, along with several nieces, nephews and friends.

Livonia:  At age 66, Wayne passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at his home in Livonia.  Wayne was born in Rochester, NY.  He was predeceased by his mother; Irene King.  Survived by his beloved wife of 18 years; Shirley A. Priest, his father; Harold King, his children; Amanda (Corey) Lamarche, Chris (Betsy) Priest, Amber (Kirk) Young, Joshua Priest, Jamie Priest, his siblings; John (Norma) Stading, Lynn (Roy) Morris, and Janet (Jerry Vancise) Priest, along with his 11 grandchildren; Olivia, Christopher, Cyrus, Kylie, Kiara, Eli, Makayla, Aubree, Leeland, Noah and Wyatt.

Livonia/Conesus Lake:  At age 86, Keith passed peacefully on August 6, 2020.  He was born on January 3, 1934 in Rochester, NY to the late Gilbert and Florence (Hall) Alexander.  Survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara (Cole) Alexander and children; Karen (Dave) Coty of Livonia, Kay (Tom) Kouvatsos of Sarasota, FL, and Ken (Kelly) Alexander of Nunda; grandchildren, Richard Alexander, Katrina (Justin) Helmus, Eleni Kouvatsos, Stephanie Kouvatsos, Jay (Tanya) McGregor, and Jeff McGregor; siblings, Shirley Ward and Brian Alexander; and many other loving family and friends.

Keith graduated from Edison Tech in Rochester, NY in 1953 and later served in the US Army from 1956-1958.  He retired from SUNY Geneseo where he worked as a mechanic for over 25 years.  Keith liked building and making things.  He enjoyed living on Conesus Lake and was known for building docks.  Keith was a member of the Livingston County Antique Car Club and was a lifetime member of the Livonia Masonic Lodge.

The family wishes to extend their appreciation to all the staff members at the Fred and Harriett Taylor Health Center in Bath, NY for all the care they provided.
