She was born on May 18, 1936 in Shinglehouse, PA to Roy and Doris (Presser) Klinger. Jeanette worked all of her adult life but found the most joy in taking care of the elderly. She was married to Donald Mingus, who pre-deceased her in 2006. She is survived by two sons, Mark (Diana) Sherwood of Lakeville, NY and Jeffery Sherwood of Andover, NY, grandchildren Danielle (Alex) Keogan, Gabrielle Sherwood, Lynn Sherwood, Hannah Sherwood, Milena Sherwood, Cheryl (Cliff) Rigerman, Adam Bates and several great-grandchildren. Laurie Ann Broadwell, 57, of Bloomfield, New York, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2018, in their family home.

Born on September 16, 1960, to Margot and Don Cole, Laurie was a loving and caring individual who had an uncanny ability to touch the lives of all who knew her in a deep and positive way. She truly lived life to the fullest, whether it was on her Harley alongside her husband Bill, yearly camping trips to Watkins Glenn, sharing a love of the Christmas holiday with her daughter Amy, or through simple pleasures like snuggling her dog Trixie and cat Nook, and spending time with friends and family around a fire in their backyard.

Laurie’s life should always be celebrated and remembered as one filled with laughter and love. The memories she created with friends growing up to the students who rode her bus and knew her as “Miss Laurie,” she loved everyone unconditionally.

Happiness was a big theme throughout her life, and Laurie shared that passion with her beloved husband Bill, who together made their house a home to anyone who stepped foot inside. In addition to her only child Amy McKearney, when she married Bill, she was blessed with three more, Devin, Ciera and Lauren.

For those who knew her, Laurie enjoyed going on adventures and taking pictures of nature and scenery along the way. She had an eye for capturing beautiful moments that others may have overlooked. It goes without saying that no one will ever look at a dragonfly the same way now that she is gone.

Sometimes she would wonder why certain things would happen, but she was a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. Even with her illness, she said there was a reason but wished she knew what it was. They say the light that shines the brightest burns out twice as fast. Although she is no longer with us in person, the light that Laurie has given to so many people will forever shine in their hearts.

Laurie is survived by her husband Bill Broadwell; daughter Amy McKearney (Kevin McKearney) of South Carolina; step-daughter Devin Broadwell (Kyle Jensen) of Waterloo, New York; step-daughter Ciera Broadwell (Kraig Wright) of Hawaii; and newborn grandson Camden McKearney. She is also survived by sister Cindy Fernandez and niece Tiffany LaPrade of Newark, New York; and nephew Brandon Bloom of Arkansas. She is preceded in death by parents Margot and Don Cole and step-daughter Lauren Broadwell.

Conesus: Dan was born on October 3, 1942 in Rush, NY and passed peacefully on August 13, 2018 at age 75. Survived by his loving wife, of 54 years, Gale J. Gascon and children; Tracy (Susan) of FL, Chester II of Conesus, Denise (Richard) Smith of Conesus, and Margaret (Jim) Baumbarger of TN; 8 grandchildren including special granddaughters, Courtney (Luke) Morris and Julia Feathers; special nephew William (Lisa) Gascon; 5 great-grandchildren; siblings, Margaret, Grace, Alice, and Charles. Dan was a hard working family man for all his life. He drove a cement mixer for Manitou Concrete for many years, was a farmer, woodcutter, and mechanic. He was self taught and if he didn’t know how to do it he would learn how. He was dedicated to his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Dan always tried to help others and had a big heart. Anyone in need could always count on Dan. Boca Raton, FL/Livonia, NY: John David Weegar passed away peacefully on August 9, 2018 while in Hospice care. He was born March 11, 1942 in Rochester, NY and graduated from Livonia High School, Livonia, NY, at which time he was awarded a full football scholarship to Syracuse University. He served 4 years in the US Air Force and then returned to NY, becoming a journeyman electrician with the Rochester Local Electrician’s Union. After moving to Florida in the late 1970’s, John became an avid fisherman and earned his 100-Ton Captain’s license to enable him to run his own deep-sea fishing charter business. He eventually returned to his private electrical business, which he successfully ran until retirement. (Rumor has it that there was a very colorful bartending career somewhere along the way!)

John is survived by his loving daughter Leah Thomason (Mike), son Mark Weegar (Kathy), beloved grandchildren Bryan Weegar, Brock and Garret Thomason and (only granddaughter) Taylor Freed. Madge was born on June 20, 1918, in Verona, New Jersey, to Harry and Louise Wilder. She was the second of three daughters. Madge grew up in Verona, attended secretarial school and worked in an insurance and real estate company. She met her husband, Lawrence Porter Carrington, on a blind date on the Fourth of July. Larry, the cousin of one of Madge’s girlfriends, was in the Navy and visiting New Jersey on leave at the time. What became a wartime romance led to their marriage in 1944.

The couple made their new home in Essex Falls, New Jersey, and had two children, son Lawrence Porter Carrington Jr. and daughter Dianne. Dianne recalls that her brother was always known as “Skip,” because when he was born, the nurse handed him to Madge and said, “Here’s your little skipper,” referencing his father’s service in the Navy.

Madge, a homemaker after her children were born, was a hostess who loved entertaining and throwing parties. She was a golfer, theater lover and traveler — she and her husband, Larry, enjoyed trips to Europe and within the U.S., including Hawaii. After Larry’s death, Madge moved to the Rochester area to be close to Dianne. She embraced this new chapter in her life with enthusiasm, making friends and taking in many GEVA performances and Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra concerts, especially POPS. Madge lived at the Friendly Home for the last seven years and always was a friendly and social “people person.”

Ron had distinguished military career serving 29 years in the United States Air Force and retiring as a Lt. Col. Ron married Phyllis on November 29, 1952 and they celebrated over 65 years together. After retirement from the military Ron lived in Lakeland Florida where he worked for Piper Aircraft for several years. Ron loved being out on the course playing golf well into retirement. He was an excellent bridge player, excelling to Life Master. Ron’s true joy was living on Conesus Lake, enjoying beers with his friends, rides on the party boat, and watching the beautiful sunsets with his wife.

Stephen was born in Rochester, New York and lived there until he moved to Florida. Stephen learned the art of custom woodworking and created his own business, making beautiful custom cabinets and doing home remodels for many years. He loved his family and had a great interest in family history.

He embodied the Club’s “We Serve” mantra, unselfishly giving of his time and talent at the Club’s Barbeque fundraisers, Children’s Halloween Party or Easter Egg Hunt, Medical Loan Closet for Senior Citizens, Sports night recognizing High School Athletes, collecting used eye glasses for recycling, Speech and Hearing Clinics held in area schools, and Patriot Project decorating US Flags along the streets of Avon. His enthusiasm was infectious, as was his easy-going good nature and constant smile.

Tom’s record of service includes Avon Community Cares, Avon Food Pantry, Avon Little League, Avon Sports Boosters, and Avon “Welcome Home” Project. In business, he expanded Duffy’s Irish Pub and relocated it to the historic Erie Depot Railroad Station, a site where his Great Grandfather began his Livery business. Ever proud to be Irish, Tom represented Avon as he led the Duffy’s float & crew in the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade. T-Mo was a long standing member of the Livingston Country Club where he was a past board member and also won many golf tournaments. Recently he had his first hole in one.

Tom was a dedicated employee of the Village of Avon Public Works Department for over 40 years, taking on increasing roles of responsibilities throughout his career. He was the first Plant Manager for Avon’s multi-million dollar Water Filtration Plant. For eight years into his retirement, he continued his service with part-time work in support of the water department. He was a highly respected coworker, mentor, and a beloved friend to everyone with whom he worked. In his retirement, Tom remained active in helping those Senior citizens still living on their own in his beloved hometown, checking on their safety and welfare during sever weather events, and providing mowing and plowing service to many. Known to his friends as “T”, he had trouble saying “no”.

Larry was born on June 1, 1957 in Buffalo, NY to parents William and Sylvia (Kucharski) McGarva. He graduated from Hamburg High School, attended the University of Buffalo for architecture, and later moved to Telluride, CO. Larry was instrumental in production of many of Tellurides music festivals and was an avid skier. He was a master stone mason and his work can be seen everywhere in the Telluride valley, in the homes, the parks and many of the historic buildings. His work will be admired for generations to come. Telluride was his home, he loved to travel and spent many months in the Southern Hemisphere, and had a kind and attentive heart. Larry will be missed but his legend and work will live forever!

Mary was born on August 21, 1943 in Rochester, NY and grew up in the 19th Ward. She enjoyed spending time with her family, bowling, bingo, and playing euchre.

A Gathering and Service to Celebrate Mary’s Life will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2018, 11am at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home Inc., 21 Big Tree Street, Rte 15 & 20A, Livonia, NY. Livonia/East Rochester: Passed on July 24, 2018 at age 97. Predeceased by his wife of more than 60 years, Clara “Billie” Wilkins, his son Stephen Wilkins, and several siblings. Survived by his daughter-in-law Kathy Wilkins and grandson Kevin Wilkins, both of Rochester, sister-in-law Dorothy Wilkins of Lakeville. Also survived by many loving extended family members and friends.

Vic was born on August 25, 1920 in Avon, NY to parents L. Dean and Lois (Nickerson) Wilkins. He proudly served his country in the US Army Air Corps during WWII in the European Theatre. Vic worked at the Livonia Gazette as a linotype operator and later retired from Chase Lincoln Bank in Rochester, NY where he was a printer. He was a past member of the United Church of Livonia, the Livonia Rotary Club, and the East Rochester Senior Center.

A Memorial Service will be held 4pm Tuesday, August 7th, at Solstice Senior Living, 55 Ayrault Road, Fairport, NY 14450. Burial Union Cemetery, Livonia, NY.
