Leroy M. Craft of Conesus, age 49, died Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at home. He was born August 16, 1961 in Torrance, California to parents Lawrence and Lurline Shafer Craft, and raised since infancy by Alex and Jesse Backus.

A graduate of Livonia Central School, Leroy was employed by Hilltop Industries in Mt. Morris. He enjoyed his work, friends and would often be found sitting on the porch with a cup of coffee.

Leroy is survived by his family, Mike (Bonnie) Litteer of Conesus, Bill (Roberta) Litteer of Livonia, John (Gail) Fredericy of Springwater, Shirley (Jim) Wright of Perry; nieces and nephews; and special friend, Regina Hayes of Geneseo.

Livonia: Robert S. “Bob” Hager, 91 years, of East Lake Road, Livonia, NY died Saturday, December 18, 2010 at his home. He was born in Boston, NY, October 4, 1919 the son of Stephen and Charlotte Owergak Hager. Bob served his country in the US Army in World War 2 from 1942 through 1945. Upon discharge, he was highly decorated including a Bronze Medal. He was a member of the Warsaw Moose, and the plumber and steamfitters union for over 50 years. He was employed by Honeywell in Rochester and also owned and operated his own refrigeration business.

Bob was predceased by his parents and siblings, Theresa Hager, Irene Button and Lorraine Messer, also his daughter, Sandra Harmon.

He is survived by his wife of 36 1/2 years, Anna Allison Hager; children Larry Lucas of Cleveland, Ohio; Karen Caldwell of Dansville and Pamela (John) Severin of Mendon. 14 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was born March 7, 1921 the daughter Francis and Trilbey Flemming Kelly. She was a member of the Honeoye United Church of Christ and a long time election inspector in Monroe County. She was predeceased by her husband Haley in 2000.

Livonia: Kevin J. Lewis, 61 years, of Poplar Hill Road, Livonia, NY died Monday, December 6, 2010 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY. He was born in Wellsville, NY, June 22, 1949 the son of Charles and Hazel Blue Lewis. Kevin served in the US Navy from 1968 through 1972.
He was a retiree of Frontier Communications where he had been employed for 40 years. He was a member of the Lakeville Fire Dept. and its Exempt Club. He was an avid golfer, who enjoyed spending winters in Florida and spending time visiting his children and grandchildren.

Livonia: Helen N. Herington, 80 years of Shelly Road, Livonia, NY died, Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville, NY. She was born May 20, 1930. Graduating from Livonia High School in 1948, she married Gordon F. Herington on October 16, 1948. For many years she was employed by Sevenstates Gas Co. in Canandaigua, prior to becoming Postmistress in Livonia Center, NY. She enjoyed music, playing the organ, piano, and accordion. She and Gordon thoroughly enjoyed their gardening and then shared their fruits, vegetables, and flowers with their neighbors and friends. Helen also kept active knitting and crocheting.

She is survived by her husband, Gordon; sisters-in-law, Ruth Ann Peck of Livonia and Jean Pierce of Lima. Several nieces and nephews and many dear friends including Ron Sweet, Stephanie Seymour and Mike Bunce. Helen was predeased by her sister, Viola Miller and brothers, Lenial, Claude, and Don Redman.

father-schifferliLivonia: Father Jerome Schifferli, “Pop”, Pastor Emeritus, St. Matthew Church, Livonia went home to God on Saturday November 20, 2010 at his home in Livonia, at age 91.

Father Schifferli was born in 1919, grew up in St. Andrew’s Parish, attended St. Andrew School and St. Andrew’s and St. Bernard’s Seminaries, all in Rochester. He was ordained to the priesthood on March 17, 1945 by Bishop James E. Kearney at Sacred Heart Cathedral. Father was assisstant pastor of St. Michael Parish, Rochester (1945-53), and of St. Mary Parish, Rochester (1953-61). He then became chaplain of Elmira Correctional Facility and Reception Center (1961-72). In 1972 he was appointed pastor of St. Joseph Parish, Livonia, St. Margaret on the Lake Parish, on Conesus Lake, and St. William Parish, Conesus, which was a mission of St. Joseph Parish. Retired in 1989, he continued to live and minister in Livonia where he was currently Pastor Emeritus at St. Matthew Parish in Livonia.

Father Schifferli is predeceased by parents Leo and Clara; sisters, Clare (Robert) Wheeler, Grace (Earl) Gunn, Constance (Arthur) Principe, Helen (Joseph) Crough; and brother, Leo (Helen) Schifferli. Father is survived by his cherished brother Roger (Patricia) Schifferli of Massachusetts and by many dear and loving nieces and nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews and great-grand nieces and nephews. Father made his home with his goddaughter Chris (Tony) Coniglio and family, where he was affectionately known as “Pop”, so named by his Miss Emma when she was too small to call him Father. Indeed there are many other families who were “family by faith abd by heart” with whom he ministered and loved as his own. He was truly our “grandfather” priest, much loved, and will be greatly missed.

Father will Lie in State on Tuesday, November 23 from 2:30-6:30PM at St. Matthew Church, 6591 Richmond Mills Rd. Livonia with Evening Prayer at 6:30PM. He was born in Elmira, NY, May 21, 1939, the son of Edward and Frances Kellogg McNaney. He graduated from high school in 1957 in Canton, PA. He served his country in the US Navy from 1957 through 1961. Scott graduated from Eureka College in Illinois and received his Masters Degree from Christian Theological Seminary. Recent pastoral assignments included the United Church of Christ, Castile, NY and currently he has been serving the First Presbyterian Church of Livonia for the past several years.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years Lee (Leliah) Spencer McNaney; children, Michael (Halle) McNaney of Livonia and Kathlene McNaney of Indianapolis, Indiana; granddaughter, Caitlin McNaney; brother, Gary McNaney of Chicago, IL; brother-in-law, Gary (Kay) Spencer of Sarver, PA; nieces and nephews.

Livonia: Nancy L. Ryan, 80 years, of Shoreline Drive, Livonia, NY; formerly of Geneseo, NY died Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at Highland Hospital in Rochester after a long illness. She was born in Buffalo, NY on April 4, 1930 the daughter of Dr. Charles E. and Dr. G. C. Olive Roneker Long. She was a graduate of Geneseo State College after which she pursued her interests in teaching at Kenmore Schools, the Rochester City School District and the Livingston-Wyoming-Steuben BOCES, especially for many years at the Holcomb School in Geneseo, which she thoroughly enjoyed. She was a long time member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church and St. Luke the Evangelist Parish, the Livonia Senior Citizens Club, the Childrens Protective Society and a former 4H leader.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Clair T. Conesus Lake: November 2, 2010 at her home at age 93 years. Stella was born in Moriah, NY, September 24, 1917, the daughter of Harry and Ina Trombley Pepper. Predeceased by husband Edward K. Morehouse in 1976. She is survived by grandsons Michael (Janine) Goodwin of Hilton, NY and Richard (Shelly) Goodwin of Aledo, TX. Stella looked after Bill (Martha) Gauthier as she did her own family. She is also survived by brother Bob Coughlin, nephews George Powers and Bill (Jan) Powers, and 6 Great Grandchildren.

erbeldingBristol: David Michael “Mike” Erbelding, 54 years, of Green Road, Bristol, NY (Honeoye) died suddenly, Wednesday October 27, 2010 at his home. He was born in Germany, March 12, 1956 the son of William and Patricia Erbelding. He was a graduate of Honeoye Central School and an electrician in the international brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local #86 in Rochester, NY. He served his country in the US Navy from 1975 through 1979. Mike was a member of the Honeoye-Hemlock American Legion Post #1278, Sons of the American Legion.

He is survived by his brothers, Robert Erbelding of Colorado and John Erbelding of Bristol.

Honeoye: Patricia A. “Pat” Colby, 72 years of Gullick Road in Honeoye, NY, formerly of Bergholtz, NY died Monday October 25, 2010 at the Hospeace House in Naples, NY after an extended illness. She was born in Buffalo, NY, August 7, 1938, the daughter of George and Ruth Hartman Brock. She was a member of the Bergholtz Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and its Ambulance. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Honeoye. Pat was predeceased by her loving husband, on September 22, 2010. They had been married since January 14, 1963.

Pat is survived by her daughter, Charlene Flieger ( Thomas “Bear” Knapp) of Honeoye; her mother, Ruth Brock of North Tonawanda, NY; 2 grandchildren, Bruce Flieger and Carlotta Knapp. brother, David Brock of North Tonawanda, NY and sister, Sally (Ronald) Cialone of North Tonawanda. Aunt, Gerry Crawford of Melbourne, Florida. 1 niece and 1 nephew.
