Elsie H. (Volk) Sonricker ~ November 22, 2014

Attica: Elsie H. (Volk) Sonricker, 91 years of Attica passed away November 22, 2014 at Wyoming County Hospital in Warsaw, NY. Prior to being admitted to the hospital, she was a resident of the Cloisters in Warsaw.

She was born January 14, 1923 in Perrysburg, NY daughter of the late Adam Volk and Catherine Miller and step mother Julia Volk.

Elsie came to Attica with her family in the 4th grade. She went to school with the love of her life, Jim, married and raised their family on the family farm on Sonricker Road. She will always be remembered as a wonderful Wife, Mother and Grandmother. She will also be remembered for her wonderful veggie gardens, canning, baked beans, apple pies, and especially her ability to feed whomever showed up at her door at any given time. Elsie was the “Finisher” and business agent for the family maple syrup business, and was also a school bus driver and 4-H Leader.

Surviving are her three Children, James (Carole) Sonricker of Leicester, Robert (JoAnne) Sonricker of Attica and Susan (Harold) Kennedy of Attica. Nine Grand Children, many Great and Great-Great Grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Sister-in-law of George and Betty Sonricker and Helen Rudolph Miller of Attica and Helen Rivard of Rhinebeck
She was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Jim Sonricker in 2011, and by her Sisters and brothers in law: Grace (John) Marchand and Joyce (Art) Ackler.

Step siblings and spouses Charlotte (Randall) Brumelle and Bernard (Olive) Taylor.

There are no calling hours. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date, burial in Forest Hill Cemetery in Attica.

  1. To the family of Elsie, Sending my love at this time of sorrow.
    I will sadly miss her at the Cloisters, where she played Bingo with me and attended most of the activities. She was a great lady. Remember her has a great, Mom and grandma and mostly a great friend.
