John A. Koch ~ April 19, 2024

Lakeville: At age 86, John passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, April 19, 2024.  He was born on October 7, 1937, in Warsaw, NY to the late Daniel and Ruth Koch. John is predeceased by his beloved wife Jennie Koch; his daughter, Christy J. Fryzowski; his siblings, Tim Koch, Tom (Donna) Koch; and brother-in-law, Roger Adams. Survived by his children, Cherie (John) Palmer, and Joseph (Linda) Koch; his son-in-law, Gerry Fryzowski, his siblings, Jim (Fran) Koch, Rose Crawford, Larry (Linda) Koch, Nancy Adams; his sister-in-law, Carole Koch; his grandchildren, Candice Moore, Eric (Jessica) Palmer, Robert (Stacey) Moore, Ashlee (Christopher) Creamer, Kayla (Cole) Geiger and Daniel Koch; and his great-grandchildren, Darryl, Trinity, Anthony, Axel, and Wesson; along with his many nieces, nephew, and friends.

After John graduated from York Central School he went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Air Force from 1957-1960. After his discharge from the Air Force, John met the love of his life, Jennie, and was married on October 28, 1961. He also went on to complete his higher education at RIT. John and Jennie had three children and he worked as an electronic technician for the Eastman Kodak Company.

John was a devout member of St. Matthews Catholic Church, a founding member of A-On-DO-Wa-Nuh Sportsman Club in Cuylerville, NY, a member of the Conesus Lake Sportsman Club in Lakeville, NY, since 1974, and a private pilot instructor since 1975. But most of all, John loved to spend time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.

John’s family would like to offer a special “Thank you” to his close friends, Ed and Whitey, along with Serena, Tammi, Anna, and Robin from Livingston County Hospice.

Friends and family are invited to call from 5-7 PM on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home, 21 Big Tree Street in Livonia. A Funeral Mass will take place at 10 AM on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at St. Matthews Catholic Church, 6591 Richmond Mills Road in Livonia. Interment and Military Honors will immediately follow at Leicester Cemetery, Leicester Road (NY-39) in Leicester. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: The Michael J.   2. John was a great friend, competitor and a fighter. I was amaized to see his determination shooting trap with us even when it was vary dificult for him. He will be missed!

  3. So sorry for your loss. John was a good friend and pilot. We spent many hours in the air together as he was teaching me to fly. He would use my airplane to teach how to fly taildraggers. He will certainly be missed by many in the flying community. You are safe in GOD’s hands now.

  4. My Condolences to the Koch family. John was a excellent pilot. I always enjoyed running into John at the local airports and talking about anything to do with flying.

  6. My condolences to John’s Family and my fellow relatives. It has been many years since I had seen John, the last time back on the farm. I remember his ’57 Chevy. Being ten years older, he had gone into his life journey before I started mine. I do recall when he joined the Air Force and a few letters he sent my sister Barbara, (RIP) during that time. They enjoyed knowing each other as kids.

  10. Thanks for sharing your dad with me for the past 45 yrs. I’m sure gonna miss that cheeky twinkle in his eye and that childlike grin! He will be missed. God speed John.
