Geneseo: At age 72, Steve passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at his son’s home in Livonia. He was born on February 5, 1952, to the late Lewis and Lois (Bailey) McMurtry. Survived by his sons Jason (Mary) McMurtry of Livonia, NY, and Jacob (Nancy) McMurtry of Wilmington, NC. His grandchildren, Brittnee McMurtry, Even Barnum, Kylie Cleveland, Andrew Horning, and great-grandchildren, Ronan, Garrett, and Aubree. Brothers Robert “Bob” (Linda) McMurtry of Silver Lake, NY, and Thomas “Tom” (Donna) Hall of Silver Lake NY as well as many nieces and nephews.
Steve loved his job as a carpenter, which he did for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing, and golfing. A sports fan of baseball, football, and racing. And most of all he enjoyed being around his friends and family.

Jason and Jake I am glad you were both able to be in your father’s life and help him out as much as you did. He loved having you around. I am also glad he was part of Brittnee’s life and he got to meet Even and Ronan. He also enjoyed Bob and his family. Steve will be missed. Prayers and condolences for the family. God bless you all.
