Avon/Waverly: Ralph Rogers of Ashmoor Drive, Avon, NY, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 6, 2014 at age 78 years at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at Mt. Morris, NY surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by brothers; Stanley and Kenneth; sisters-in-law Jean, Arlene, and Katherine Rogers; brothers-in-law Joseph White and William Petty. Special nephew; Joseph (Skeeter) White, special niece, Joanne White Moore. Ralph is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Virginia Rogers; his children David (Laura) Rogers of Geneseo, NY, Gary (Tammy) Rogers of Rochester, NY, Linda Rogers Penniston of Rochester, NY. Grandchildren; Stephanie Rogers of Waverly, NY, Matthew (Katie) Rogers of Rochester, NY, Benjamin Rogers of Rochester, NY, Shannon (Gero) Petrolito of Toronto, Christopher Wilke of Penfield, NY. Great Grandchildren; Evan and Xavier Petrolito of Toronto. Also survived by sisters; Sarah White of Athens, PA, Marleah Petty of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, Geraldine (Louis) Young of Waverly, NY; brother Gilbert Rogers of Sayre, PA. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Ralph was born on January 18, 1936 in Athens, PA, the son of Stanley and Edna Hunsinger Rogers. He was a 1954 graduate of Athens High School. He was employed for 25 years with Grand Union Supermarkets in both Waverly, NY and Sayre, PA. He retired from SCT Boces in Horseheads, NY in July 1996 after 10 years of service.

Ralph enjoyed traveling, camping, gardening, and the special times spent with family. He especially enjoyed 16 years of winters spent in Estero, Florida at Cypress Bend RV Park.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 11th, at 10 am at the Avon Wesleyan Church, 300 Genesee St., Avon, NY, followed by a service at 4pm at the First Church of God, 416 N. Keystone Ave., Sayre, PA. Burial will be at a later date at the Tioga Point Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Avon Wesleyan Church Memorial Fund, 300 Genesee St., Avon, NY 14414 or the First Church of God Memorial Fund, 416 N.   1. Dear Aunt Virginia, I’m so very sorry for the lost of Uncle Ralph.He will be truly missed by everyone. He was a great uncle, and I only wish Mom could have been able to travel to visit everyone once in awhile, I’m so sorry for that as well. She misses everyone terribly.     RALPH WAS A GREAT NEIGHBOR, ALWAYS A SMILE AND A KIND WORD. HE WAS A MAN THAT WOULD GO THE EXTRA MILE TO MAKE PEOPLE FEEL COMFORTABLE. RALPH WILL BE MISSED IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD. RALPH AND VIRGINIA HAVE AN ETERNAL LOVE THAT WAS APPARENT THE MINUTE ONE CAME INTO THEIR PRESENCE. HIS JOURNEY HAS ENDED, BUT HIS LOVE LIVES ON IN HIS BELOVED WIFE AND FAMILY.

    I am so sorry for your loss. I had the privilege of knowing Ralph. I still work at BOCES. Barb (from O & M) just told me about Ralph’s passing. I know there’s a special place for him in Heaven. He was the sweetest, kindest, friendliest man I have ever known. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
