Livonia: John Paul Knowlton Jr., 88, died on Good Friday, April 22, 2011, in Tempe, Ariz.
John was born on July 25, 1922, in Dansville, the third child of John Paul Sr. and Lucia Gross Knowlton. He was a veteran of World War II having served his tour in the South Pacific with the 38th Bomber Group, 822nd Division of the Army Air Corps. He raised his family in the Rochester area, then moved to Atlanta, Ga. He earned his living as a sales representative and part time carpenter. Among his many artistic talents were beautifully painted carvings of flowers and birds in plastic. He also enjoyed nature and singing karaoke. After retirement, John lived in Livonia until he moved to Tempe, Ariz., two years ago. John left his mark wherever he went. He will be dearly missed.
John was predeceased by his sister, Lucia Mai Knowlton; and son, Mike Richards Knowlton. He leaves sisters, Mary Ann (and Harvey) Boyd and Bertha Marguerite Bentivegna; son, John Paul (and Kathryn) Knowlton III; daughters, Helen Elizabeth Morrow and Kathryn (and Joseph) Marr; daughter-in-law, Donna Knowlton; eight grandchildren, Janelle, Christine and Joshua Knowlton; Jennifer (and Lee) Jackson; Sarah Cole; David, Ethan and Hannah Marr; and six great-grandchildren, Trevor and Justine Cole, Shaan and Glenn Knowlton, Quinn and Liam Jackson.
