Hamlin/Honeoye: At age 65, Julie Barnard departed before we were ready to say goodbye, at home in Hamlin, N.Y., on Monday, May 26, 2025. Julie was born on August 24, 1959, in Rochester, NY, to the late Harold and Anna Barnard. She is predeceased by her husband, George Ballash, and daughter Jennifer Marshall-Hubble. Survived by her daughter, Christina (Allen) Green, son George (Becka) Marshall, brothers, Randy (Susan) Barnard, and Robert Barnard. Grandchildren, Crystal Derby, Emily Green, Jaszlyne Derby, Leah Green, Landon Hubble, Rachel Marshall, Lindsey Marshall, Hunter Marshall, and several step-grandchildren.
Julie’s grandchildren were the light of her life, and she treasured every moment with them. Whether splashing in pools, enjoying sunny days at the beach, or sharing laughter during sleepovers, she created memories that will last a lifetime. She never missed a chance to cheer them on, supporting and encouraging her children and grandchildren in everything they did. Not to mention her roots cheering on the Minnesota Vikings, she was an Islandic Viking. Her love for Tigger went all the way back to years of Jennifer and Julie collecting as many stuffed animals, shirts, knick-knacks as they could. Of course, Jen was a Winnie the Pooh fan, and the two characters were always meant to be together. Having grown up on Honeoye Lake alongside her parents, brothers, and the many children her family fostered, Julie’s deep-rooted love for family and togetherness was the foundation of her life. After meeting George Ballash, Julie’s family grew even larger, and she embraced each new member with love and warmth. She loved her fur babies, Max, Hunny, Sadie, Homer, and other loving pets. Her kindness touched everyone she met, and her joyful spirit made every moment with her unforgettable. Julie’s contagious laugh and smile will be missed and treasured always.
Friends and family are invited to call from 4 PM – 6 PM on Friday, June 6, 2025, at the Kevin W. My deepest condolences to your family. May God speed your family’s healing.
Heaven has a very special angel. I will always remember her beautiful smile. Julie always thought of others before herself. When you pass someone today, give them a smile. It will brighten their day. You have left us Julie, but you are forever in our hearts.
Many of my childhood and teenage memories involve Julie and her family. From time spent at the lake as a kid, even before my family moved there, to babysitting for her children, to stopping in after my college classes were done for the day to just say hello and run errands with her and the kids. Many Cherished memories.
I will miss her kindness, her wicked sense of humor and her infectious laugh. Rest peacefully Julie.
Grandma MEME as our grandson Roddy called her, will not forget her. He loved when she would come to our house and sit with him so I could go to work. He loved the dogs and would sleep over. Julie was more of a friend. We love having a drink at the house or coffee. Loved having her and George over for festivities. We would laugh for hours. Will never forget her and she will never be replaced. Love to all of you and God bless you with strength.
Julie had such a contagious smile and love of life that just flowed around her wherever she went. When she and I worked at Joanns, I always knew it would be a good day when we worked together. She made the long hours and the sometimes difficult people worth being there. I’ll never forget her, she was one of my favorite friends. Fly high my friend!?????
I loved Julie very much. She was my foster sister but always treated me as just another brother. We had lots of fun living on the lake. going out on the “kids boat” we had two, fishing and swimming. our dog was Charlie a blonde lab and was always part of the fun. he could eat a hot dog in one bite. Julie was always kind to me. I already miss her very much. My love goes out to all the family.
I’m heartbroken to hear about Julie’s passing. Her vibrant spirit, infectious laugh, and boundless love for her family and friends touched so many lives. Julie’s warmth and kindness were truly unforgettable. Please know that my thoughts are with you, Christina, George, and all of Julie’s loved ones during this difficult time. Her light will continue to shine through the beautiful memories she created.

She was a good friend, loved working with her at Joanne’s/Viking. She loved sewing and creating her own designs. Hugs and prayers to her family.
Julie was a special person and friend. Unfortunately we only just reconnected a short time ago on FB. I was hoping to visit with her on my trip home this fall. (I am unable to attend due to living so far away but know my heart and hugs are with her family during this time of grief.
Friends & Families Muscular Disorders Foundation sends our heartfelt sympathy and support to Julie’s family at this difficult time.
This was a woman who just made you smile because her smile was contagious. She was always willing and ready with a hug and a kind word. We shared some fun Girl Scout moments together back in the day.
She gave the world three wonderful children who she was so proud of and when I would ask her about how they were doing she would beam from ear to ear . My prayers go out to them and one I am sure she has already met up in heaven. Sending love and hugs to the whole family.
