Thomas G. Kleinhans “TK” ~ May 22, 2025

Henrietta/Lakeville: At age 85, Tom “TK” Kleinhans passed away peacefully on May 22, 2025, at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY. He was born on April 16, 1940 in Rochester to the late John and Mary (Conroy) Kleinhans. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Mark Kleinhans. Survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Donna (Begeny) Kleinhans; loving children; Christine Viscardi of Brockport, Katherine (Timothy) Ackermann of Cincinnati, OH, and Michael (Renee) Kleinhans of Geneseo; and seven much loved grandchildren; McKenna Viscardi, Patrick Viscardi, Jack Ackermann, Reilly Ackermann, Max Ackermann, Reese Kleinhans and Garin Kleinhans; sister Anne Murray of Canandaigua; also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

TK attended McQuaid Jesuit High School as part of their first graduating class, ultimately graduating from West High in 1958. His life of service began after high school. He served his country when he joined the United States Marine Corps and has remained a proud Marine ever since. Semper Fi. His service continued when he became a New York State Trooper in 1962. He worked in several capacities for 26 years, retiring as an investigator with the BCI. After retirement, he worked as a Court Security Officer at the Federal Building and occasionally did private investigative work.

Sports was a way of life for TK. From playing them, to reading about them, to watching them. In his youth, he played football, basketball, and baseball. In his adulthood, he continued playing softball, golfing, and skiing. For decades, he was a ski instructor and a member of the Swain Race crew. We know he was thrilled when, not one, but all three of his children began playing a variety of sports. He rarely missed a game or event, sometimes being on the sidelines/court in his work uniform. Once his grandchildren became involved in sports, he supported them and took in as many of their games as he could.

TK was an Irishman through and through. He loved all things Irish and became a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. He proudly carried the Irish Flag during the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Rochester and he also held several leadership positions within the organization. He also lived and breathed Notre Dame. He subscribed to their magazines, wore ND gear, watched many games on TV, and took multiple trips to see the Fighting Irish. He even had their fight song as his ringtone.

No prior calling will be held. Tom’s Funeral Mass will be held at 11 am on Friday, June 13th, at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 6591 Richmond Mills Road, Rte 20A, Livonia, with military honors. As Tom always liked a get-together, a Celebration of Life Gathering will follow at the Livingston Country Club, Geneseo, NY. Interment will be held privately. Memorial contributions may be made to Signal 30 NYS Troopers Benefit Fund, 20 Century Hill Drive South – Suite 3, Latham, NY 12110, or online at www.signal30.org.
