Stephen E. Swingle Sr. – March 6, 2025

Springwater – With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Stephen E. Swingle Sr., who departed this life on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Highland Park Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Wellsville, NY. He was 74 years old. Born on November 3, 1950, in Canandaigua, NY, Stephen was the beloved son of the late George and Emily (Bovee) Swingle. A devoted father, brother, grandfather, and friend, he leaves behind a legacy of love, ingenuity, and adventure.

He is survived by his cherished children: Sheila (Christopher) Gibbs, Tina Swingle, Stephen (Christina) Swingle Jr., and George (Lillie) Swingle. He was a proud grandfather to twelve grandchildren and a great-grandfather to five great-grandchildren. Stephen is also survived by his loving siblings: Marilynn Swingle, Judith (Brian) Gibson, James Swingle (late wife Donna) and his partner Bonnie Black, and Timothy (Debbie) Swingle, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

A Life of Innovation and Passion

Stephen was a gifted engineer and designer, known for his expertise in laminating equipment. His ingenuity led to the development of specialized accessories that facilitated the application of magnetic strips to identification card systems used worldwide. His contributions to this industry left a lasting impact, reflecting his intelligence, creativity, and drive for innovation.

Beyond his professional achievements, Stephen embraced life with an adventurous spirit. He found joy in traveling, motorcycling, and snowmobiling, often sharing these experiences with family and friends. He also enjoyed visiting local Legion Halls, engaging in lively discussions about current events and politics, always staying informed and passionate about the world around him.

Those who knew Stephen will remember him as a brilliant and independent thinker with a sharp wit, a kind heart, and a steadfast loyalty to those he loved. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.

  3. I’m so sorry to hear about Steve’s passing! I worked at LEDCO with him for 28 yrs. He was a design engineer with great vision and always had solutions to problems we needed solved. Also, great sense of humor, which we needed every day. It was a pleasure to work with him.
