Frederick “Fred” G. Schreiner ~ February 2, 2025

Canandaigua: Our dearest Fred left us Sunday, February 2, 2025, 6 days short of his 63rd birthday. His happiest times were spent with his wife, Colleen, his daughter, Brianne, his son-in-law, Dan, and his grandchildren, Abby and Noah. Fred, Colleen, and Brianne traveled many times to the West Coast and back in their beloved RV, visiting every state in between. Later, they began to travel to Europe where they enjoyed renting cars and road-tripping through the country sides. An electric boat gave him a few years of joy on Canandaigua Lake, and a second RV provided a few trips with the grandkids and of course their dogs! Fred was always up for travel as he had a curious mind that loved learning about people and places. He was fortunate to vacation in St. Thomas twice last year, including once with the whole family. He loved watching the grandkids play in the sand.

He could build or fix anything, which Colleen took advantage of as they remodeled several homes. You could often find him on his tractor, driving a Willys Jeep, or tinkering in the garage. Fred became Colleen’s favorite roadie, traveling together and setting up many an art show! He was proud of his Scottish heritage; hosting Robert Burns suppers presenting the haggis, neeps and tatties to his captured guests! Fred donned Hawaiian shirts that his mother made way before they became popular. He had a shirt for every occasion.

Fred thought cooking might be a career after working his teenage years at the Conesus Inn. A year of culinary college in the Catskills gave him the skills to cook for his family and friends, hosting many Memorial Day parties. Instead of becoming a chef, he found his path at Alfred State where he made lifelong friends. Those years brought him to his career in commercial heating sales with Buckpitt & Co. At Buckpitt he found a second family. Fred loved his work. It gave him deep satisfaction. He also taught Boiler Systems at the Applied Technologies Center through MCC for nearly 18 years. He was an active member in the Association for Facility Engineers, serving as their president for a time.

Fred was born on February 8, 1962, in Dansville, NY to the late Robert and Becky (Latimer) Schreiner. He was predeceased by his siblings, Mary Tremblay, Robert “Bud” Schreiner Jr., Frank Schreiner, and Leo Schreiner. Survived by his beloved wife of nearly 30 years, Colleen (Tupper) Schreiner, his daughter, Brianne (Dan) Nichols, his siblings, Jerry (Jean) Schreiner, and Polly (Bill) Bulkley, his grandchildren, Abigail and Noah Nichols, his mother-in-law, Virginia Tupper, brother-in-law, Steven (Mia) Tupper, sister-in-law, Tammy Tupper-Dimmig, along with several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Friends and family are invited to call from 4-6 PM on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home, 21 Big Tree Street in Livonia, where Fred’s Memorial Service will immediately follow at 6 PM. Interment will take place privately at Union Cemetery on Big Tree Street in Livonia.
