Canadice:  On October 21, 2024, at age 94, Mary Ann passed peacefully at her home on Honeoye Lake.  She was predeceased by her husband of almost 70 years, Burdell “Buzz” Geartz and her sister Barbara Mosher.  Survived by children; Gerrett (Melinda) Geartz of Canadice and Nancy (Barry) Nagel also of Canadice; grandchildren, Jennie (Michael) Ott, Tyler (Kala Stein) Nagel, Taber Geartz (Lora Masci), Elisabeth (Robert) Delisanti, Caitlin (Michael) Conklin, Jared Nagel, Todd (Jennifer) Geartz, Catherine (Joel) West, and Jordan Nagel; great-grandchildren, Lia, Abbie, Matthew, Elise, Amelia, Drew, Nora, Griffin, Benjamin, William, Isaac, Theodore, Rexweldt, Eleanor, and one on the way.  Also survived by nieces, nephews, devoted caregivers, and friends.

Mary Ann was born to the late Albert and Jennie (Murrell) Estony in 1930, during the Great Depression. In her early years, her father’s career as a professional golf pro led the family to split their time between New York and Florida. Mary Ann’s love for warm weather and beaches continued throughout her life, eventually leading her and Buzz to divide their time between Honeoye, New York and Marco Island, Florida.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Mary Ann, lovingly referred to as “Gigi,” cared most deeply about her family.  She selflessly supported Buzz in all his endeavors and would tirelessly volunteer along side him during Rotary, Camp Honeoye and church events.

Mary Ann’s children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life.  She modeled the importance of family, ensuring each holiday was filled with genuine love and celebration.  Mary Ann cherished the time she had with her family, often sharing her talents and hobbies, including antiquing, sewing, crafting, cooking and baking.  She loved her beach walks in Florida and taught her grandchildren and great-grandchildren how to hunt for the perfect shell.  A skill that will be passed down for generations to come.

Mary Ann’s humor and love for life on the lake never wavered. In her final year’s she was blessed to be surrounded by caregivers who provided unparalleled love and support.

  1. Sorry, as is everyone that knew Mary Ann for your loss. We, Craig & Darlene, are thankful for the times we have spent together and how much enjoyment we have shared in the times we spent in comunity service involvement. We appreciate that you were able to accept our demented positions, (something we seemed to have in common with certain members of the family which will continue to remain un-named). Love you all. Craig & Darlene

  2. Mary Ann was devoted in so many ways, especially to Buzz and her beautiful, ever growing family. Gratefully, she is in a joyful, peaceful place now. 6. Gerry and Nancy and the rest of the family,

Living so close to Buzz and Mary Ann was a blessing. I related more with Buzz who was always looking for ways to see what was going on and then trying to help. Mary Ann always had an eye for a solution or a planned path to take to make life better. Everyone I knew in the family was the same way.

My son Jordan was accepted by the family as he was growing up and was given the opportunity to share in the Geartz way. Every interaction with any of the family was memorable and fulfilling. Buzz and Mary Ann was the reason for that.

Please accept my condolences for this time in your life to reflect on such a wonderful person.
